Devil Might Wear Prada, But I Won't!

Guys, you know what? I don’t believe Prada is a luxury brand. Instead, I think it’s an overpriced boring one. There, I finally said it. The reason why I think that way is actually all the real customer comments and complaints I’ve read about the brand. And believe me when I say “There are some horrible comments…” Today I’m here to tell you everything that is wrong with this brand, and share some of the comments with you guys. Prada just like Chanel these days both brands are overpriced and made out of cheap crap Like brass slicer plated etc besides D&G Valentino and Alexander McQueen are wayy better Besides the only reason people buy these brands are for the name when in reality the bags etc from Chanel and Prada are made out of cheap materials

Yeah, prada is ridiculously priced. The Nylon patchwork bag is several times more expensive than the Givenchy bedazzled antigona in all leather... You should look up LV prices over time since the 80s too it actually goes up normally for a while before just RISING way sharper than before.

I completely agree on how Prada looks and their quality. I always found their style cold. I think there are few things going on right now in the fashion luxury world. In the last century all these mass produced brands like Gucci, LV, Prada, Chanel, etc. used to represent true luxury and high society people from new money and old money used to buy from them. These brands used to stand behind the quality of their products and offer exceptional customer service. With the middle class starting to have more discretionary income to splurge and mindset change (thanks to massive media marketing, using celebs), they entered the world of luxury fashion. While before, they would have laughed at the idea of spending crazy amounts (for that time and economy) on luxury products even having the money, now they are encouraged by this mentality shift to acquire luxury goods to show their status and to be perceived as wealthy. Still brands were managing to keep rigurous control on the quality of their products. With the expansion of the global economy to other new continents like Asia, and also expansions in Europe and US, by opening many more boutiques, the quality fell. It was just a matter of time, before the customer started to realize the bag that used to cost $300 back in 1980 is not the same quality as now at £5000. We are not only paying crazy high prices, but we don't even have the quality to feel that those pieces will last us a lifetime. There are obviously the exceptions, where brands have decided to grow organically and slowly to new markets, so they could defend the quality of their products and the brand name. My thoughts are that we are in a luxury fashion bubble, a big one! The middle class is not there sustaining those brands as before like during covid, and these brands rely on this type of consumer to keep their big numbers up. The 1% or better 0.1% is also making adjustments, not all of them are fashion luxury fans, and among those who love fashion there are also the ones who would rather get their products custom made and pay high prices, but without being worn by everyone. I can't wait to see end of 2024 and early 2025 sales figures! They will show us better how the market is really doing 🦒

I love buying Prada....second hand and extremely discounted. I got a pair of super cute pink suede heels for $60 CAD. I ain't touching nylon though, blech.

I love my Prada bags. I love the simple designs. People critique luxury buyers by saying they're paying for the logo but that's obvious, part of the appeal is the pleasing aesthetic of the logo itself. It's just not your style. To each their own.

On point! I grew up with cheap and colorful fashion from Turkey in the 90s and this is what Prada bags remind me of. Cheap stuff. Cheap designs. I almost feel like if it said Prado on them, it would make more sense!😅😅😅

I agree 100% with you. I have been saying a lot of these "design" houses are not designing anything, just recyling centuries old products and sometimes making it a different color. Also a lot of their things look too cheap & juvenile.

I have a Kate Spade bag that was $100 on sale in 2020. It looks just like a Prada and it has survived me. That is an accomplishment . I think back to the late 1990’s when Carolyn Bissette Kennedy wore her Prada. I wonder if she would disappointed to see what Prada has become. It is very sad that luxury brands have become lazy.

I have a Prada iPhone case in saciando leather and it is 1:1 to the iPhone cases from a local brand who specializes in iPhone cases with your initials engraved AND THOSE CASES ARE JUST $35USD! The Prada one is like $300USD! AND WHEN I TELL YOU ITS THE SAME CASE IT IS, JUST WITH A PRADA LOGO AT THE BOTTOM! It’s incredible they get away with such a ripoff

If it's ''luxury'' just because someone told you it is, keep buying. For those of us who know what to look for in a quality item, it's a huge FAIL for the price. And by the way, Coach is great quality in terms of cost per wear. Their hardware is better than most, and far surpasses Prada's.

I was given a coach bag purchased from the coach store. Only a few months later, the handles are hanging by a thread. One handle halfway broke off. It's not just a Prada thing.

These bags aren’t supposed to be the pinnacle of functionality and craftsmanship. You’d go to a leathersmith if that was the desire. You’re buying these bags from these brands for status and nothing more. Look at the Birkin. It’s four leather straps and some hardware that’s clunky and ridiculous to open and close. People pay 5 figures for something that is at this point so easily replicated that most of what you see are replicas(even celebrities). It’s not about the product it’s about the perception of status.

I love my Prada clothes and the prices are pretty well compared to other brands but their accessories are out of this world. I bought a wallet from them 5 years ago for $400 but now they’re selling it for $795, pretty insane. This made me feel better about now wanting to buy their bags anymore. I’ll just stick to their coats and pants for now.

I have a Dooney & Bourke bucket bag that a friend gave me as a birthday gift back in the 1990s. It's been used (and sometimes abused) for literal decades yet still looks terrific! The only issue I've had with it is over time, the tassels on the end of the drawstring eventually got really shabby and tattered looking, to the point I ended up removing them completely. Granted, that was after at least 10 years of use. Modern Dooney & Bourke seems to still be quite good quality to me - definitely better than Prada quality.

My friend really cares about the environment and she buys a lot of re-nylon Prada products. She doesn’t care about luxury or how much it costs as long as it is good for the environment. Many people admire her high ethic standard.

Maybe a naylon bag is worth this price if it's about totally revolutionary process that'll save the planet and the bag is first and one of the kind. It's not. There're many regenerated plastic yarns, Primark uses recycled polyester, too.

i feel that this "ranting" is unfair. why don't you complain about the chanel bags that cost a lot with shoddy craftsmanship, or the overhyped or oversaturated louis vuitton bags, or the now all too common birkins? i happen to like prada and the aesthetics it creates, you don't have to like it, nor do you have to buy it.

It’s sad to hear this quality issues from the brand since I have a Saffiano bag from Prada (also made an unboxing video) and didn’t encounter any issues with it. The leather finish still looks good as new after 2 years even on daily use including getting a little drizzle from rain. Yes, the nylon bags are way overpriced so getting one in leather at discounted or secondhand stores will be a better option.
