දුප්පතාගෙ ලෝකාන්තය - Poor Man's World's End ( 2170m )
කළුපහන සිට බඹරකන්ද දිය ඇල්ල පසුකරගෙන යකාගෙ පඩිපෙළ ලෙස හඳුන්වන මාර්ගය හරහා ඔහිය දක්වා සංචාරය ඉතාමත්ම සිත්ගන්නා සුළු එකක්. මෙය ඉතා අසීරු ගමනක් වුනත් කිසිදා අමතක නොවන ගමනක් වනු නොඅනුමානයි. ඔබ සොබාදහමට ඇලුම් කරන්නෙකු නම් මෙය ජීවිතයේ එක් වරක් හෝ යායුතු ගමනක්.
මේ ගමන වාහනයකින් මෙන්ම පයින්ද යා හැකියි. පයින් ඇවිදීමෙන් ගමනෙහි දුෂ්කර රසය සහ මනස්කාන්ක දර්ශන සිත්සේ විඳගත හැකි වුවත්, ගමනේ අවසානය තරමක් වෙහෙසකාරී විය හැකියි. එසේම ප්‍රමාණවත් තරම් ඉන්ධන රැගෙන යාමත් වැදගත්. පයින් ගමන් කරන්නේ නම් ප්‍රමාණවත් වතුර සහ ආහාර රැගෙන යන්න. මේ ගමනේදී ඉතා සංචාරකයෙකු ලෙස ඉතා වගකීමෙන් කටයුතු කරන්න. ප්ලාස්ටික් හෝ වෙනත් දිරානොයන දේවල් දැමීමෙන් මේ බිමනොකිළිටි කරන්න
The trip from Kalupahana to Ohia through the road known as the Devil's Stairs, past the Bambarakanda Falls is a very interesting one. Although this is a very difficult journey, it will undoubtedly be an unforgettable journey. If you are a nature lover this is a once in a lifetime trip.
The start of this journey is from the Kalupahana area on the Colombo-Badulla road. The total distance from there to Ohia is 23 km. But the total distance can be reduced to 14 km by coming to a difficult short cut in the middle of the journey.
This journey can be done by car as well as on foot. If you go by car, you must have a 4WD vehicle. Or trail type motorbikes are suitable for this journey. The road is extremely difficult with steep slopes. Therefore, it is necessary to have a good driver. Because of the dangerous nature of this road, it can be said that this is called the Devil's Stairs. Another problem that occurs when traveling in a vehicle is not being able to give way if a vehicle comes from the opposite direction. There are few places where two vehicles can switch on this road. While trekking can savor the arduous flavor of the journey and the breathtaking views, the end of the journey can be quite tiring. Therefore, the most suitable for this trip is to go with trail type motorcycles.
At the beginning of the trip, the most attractive place of this trip is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, the Bambarakanda waterfall. After passing the Bambarakanda waterfall, there is a concrete road. But this part of the road is very short. Then you will find a slippery road paved only with granite. After passing this section, you will find a naturally located platform. The view from there is indescribable. After that, the difficult parts of the road begin. It is not easy to walk on the Guru Road from here, let alone a vehicle.
After traveling further you can see plantation houses. Poor plantation workers live in these. After passing the estate houses and the temple, the road reaches its final stage. Various side roads are encountered on this journey. The right way is not specified, so there is a possibility of going wrong. By choosing the road with more traffic, you can reduce the possibility of going wrong. Or you can get the help of a guide. The people living in these estates are very innocent and simple people. They will help whenever needed.
If you are traveling by vehicle, definitely use a 4WD jeep with high wheels or a vehicle with similar facilities. It is also important to carry enough fuel. Carry enough water and food if traveling on foot. Also, there are no toilet facilities on the way.
Be very responsible as a tourist on this trip. Make this floor uncontaminated by placing plastic or other non-degradable materials
