You should just say spoiler warning or something at the start of each cast and not try to avoid spoilers in the discussions. It’s kinda pointless to have deep conversations about the games and skirt around spoilers. If you’re talking about the details of recent RGG games, it should be assumed that you will be talking about the stories. People shouldn’t be listening to deep dives from series veterans about the newest games if they aren’t caught up. I mean even the existence of a Majima game in 2025 implies that none of his fake deaths/arrests mean much in the previous games. Same for all Kiryu’s fake deaths in every game when he’s on the cover in IW…

One thing i would love to see from the story is Majima having some sort of flashbacks and being scared of who he was and what he went through, embracing the life at sea even more to run away from his past. But near the end, he has to decide if he wants to continue to live a carefree life as a pirate with no past or embrace who he was, with all the traumas he went trought. I belive this is a good way to balance the undeniable silly premise of the game with some of the more serious moments this series is known for, showing that Majima isn't just a wacky funny eyepatch man, but someone who as been through a lot and is brave enough to still accept himself and all that happened in his life.

I Think we are getting a game for all of our fishermen yakuzas. Kiryu got closure in Gaiden and infinite wealth so they are now doing the same for majima in the pirate game. The saejima and daigo game will probably be stored in a Glass Box: "Break in case of no yearly release".

Am I the only one who interpreted the Infinite Wealth ending as a showing that Kiryu isn't done yet? Like throughout the entire game Kiryu is constantly being told that he shouldn't just give up and die and instead keep living and in the end we see how he finally gets treatment for his cancer while at the same time reclaiming his name. The Daidoji still need to be taken care of and Ichiban doesn't feel like the right guy to do it because he has no horse in that race. I seriously believe we are gonna get more Kiryu games.

I was someone who didn't really want a Majima Gaiden as I felt like they expanded his character as much as they could but the premise alone has me interested amd I'm definitely looking forward to it Though i am surprised this is a canon game and not a Kenzan/Ishin type thing

to be completely honest I wonder why this idea went as out there as it did (not that I'm complaining) for a game set in the mainline. It's 2024/2023 (idk exact timeline), why are old timey pirates even a thing? Shouldn't they at least be modernised even by a little bit? It feels like the setting somehow got flanderised by Majima's character though it's probably fair if he was the one telling the story or if there was an adequate reason.

Prior to the Summit, I thought that RGG was only gonna talk about the upcoming live action show. A Majima Gaiden game was something I did not see coming. I know RGG usually releases a beat em up game after a JRPG game whenever they debut a new map, but I kinda expected said beat em up game to be Judgment 3. Pirate Yakuza looks awesome though and I can't wait to play it.

One thing I want from this game is to confirm that Kazuma and Kaoru have reunited and are happily ever after in Okinawa at Sunflower. The game should end with Majima arriving at the beach on his pirate ship where he witnesses a wedding preparations and he remembers that what he forgot was to be a ring bearer for Kazuma and Kaoru. Peak plot.

To correct what Froob said in 44:00 (Unless it was clarified later), it didn't get condensed. Yokoyama brought up in a recent Famitsu article that it will be live action and in-game CGs. "By the way, the Minato Ward girls will appear not only in live action, but also as CG in the game. After communicating with Majima, Masaru says he wants to drink with the Minato Ward girls, so Majima takes them with him. Masaru is a difficult person (laughs)."

As you said, JE3 can come out or not depends on right timing. Because Yagami’s actor is so famous in Asia and he doesn’t have time to do the voice acting in this year. Kimura enjoys acting Yagami and loves Judgment stories when he first sees the scripts. The most problem is between RGG and Yokoyama. They may not want to continue Nagoshi and his team’s works. After Nagoshi-san has left, RGG deleted Nagoshi-san’s name so quickly.

It just amazes me how much people complain about stuff. Not you guys of course but how you guys were talking about people complaining about asset reuse and stuff like that. Thats what lets us get the games so quick. Does it get kinda slightly old sometimes? Maybe but if the game is fun who gives a shit? The Kiryu gaiden game (wild that we have to differentiate that now 😂) completely reused Sotenbori but the game was fantastic so it was fine. Also the person that Froob talked about who complained about there being a majima game needs to be smacked upside the head. We havent played as Majima properly since the Majima saga and lets face it that doesnt even count. The last time we got to play as majima properly was YAKUZA ZERO. By the time this game comes out it will be almost 10 years exactly since Zero came out. People will complain about literally anything nowadays

I really was not too invested in the idea of a Majima Gaiden prior to this. I would have been okay with pirate Majima if it was either an Ishin/Kenzan situation where the story takes place in a different time period, or how they did it with Kiryu in IW where the others games (Ishin, Kenzan, Dead Souls) are explained as dreams he had. As of now I am not sold on the story and tbh I just really don’t like Hawaii as a setting (and map, way too big). Yakuza games that take place outside of Japan just feels wrong. Hearing people speaking English within the game still doesn’t feel right (I’m currently on my second IW playthrough). I hope RGG doesn’t take the Ubisoft Asssassins Creed route and loses focus completely on what the games were supposed to be. That being said I have pre ordered the game because it’s Majima and I hope we’ll get a good amount Daigo and Saejima content. If I have to put up with Hawaii than at least I want these two in Hawaiian outfits. Also Samoa Joe, yay.

My hot take is that this game is the last possible game I could possibly want. RGG is at its best story/writing wise, when it is a somewhat grounded human drama. The premise of the game and the style of the combat verges on being a full on cartoon, and I worry they'll forget that Majima is a deeply tramatized character and won't touch on that much at all. That being said, i think at worst it will be a fun pirate game, Samoa Joe is going to kill it as a villain, and if the story does weird things to the cannon I'll just say i don't like it and move on with my life.

I hate to be the doomer but it feeeeels like a cashgrab from a studio trying to recapture some magic, dont get me wrong i love what yakuza created along the way but i think i heard somewhere that nagoshi had stopped working as a creative director and SEGA doesnt have the best track-record for those in general, nagoshi really was special in some ways, but the game realistically could pull it off, it just comes back down to how much work SEGA is willing to let the developper do on it because meshing drama and ridicule isnt as easy as making the Yakuza series just like that... theres a lot of thoughts that goes into making an emotional moment properly break into comedy without feeling forced

I don't know if they confirmed this, but why does it feel like mad dog and sea dog seems location locked. Only seen sea dog on an island and pirate ship, and mad dog only on honolulu. As well the pirate outfit not being shown with mad dog and vice-versa as well as no style switch animation, which, if this is true, would how the final boss fight work and other things.

It was probably just for the trailer to show off the styles. I'd assume you have the mad dog style off rip then majima gets an idea like in zero and then comes up with the style. There's a 99.99% chance they won't be locked

I have a prediction, they try to redeem Majima from what he did in 5, wasnt he abusive to Park? Hes gonna feel guilt or something and explore that aspect. Like Gaiden emphasized Yakuza 3

That's totally fair, it's your money, but 40 hours is not "short" lmao. Maybe less than the average rgg game, but compared to the industry 40 hours is a pretty lengthy runtime

Its gonna be slighly longer so around 15hr same as previous yakuza games 1, 2, 3, 6 without the padding of gaiden

Sony sold the Miles Morales game for 40$ and that was around 20 hours to 100% If this is 40+ that’s already great.

Imagine saying 40 hours is short. It's a gaiden game for one thing. If you were expecting 80 hours then there's no helping your lack of common sense. Plus the game won't even be "full price" anyways. It'll probably be 50 or something. If you're struggling to pay that then maybe gaming just isn't for you
