This substory must hit _hard_ for Kiryu considering this is a few years after 5 and a few years he had to distance himself from his kids for their own safety. He raised Haruka as his daughter and he's listening to a kid talk about his first child. It's got a ton of melancholy in the subtext because I'm almost certain that Kiryu feels he's failed in being a good dad to her and the rest of the Sunshine Orphanage kids in some fashion. Hearing about how his daughter has been a good influence in her brief stint in the idol scene was probably the kind of reassurance Kiryu needed to say "No, I didn't fail as a dad. I did well." That and if you did play 5 and did the handshake events, it's a way to see that outside of the perverts and creeps that hounded you in those events, there were some good people you helped along the way. Yakuza, despite its popularity, is underappreciated for just how emotional and well-woven the narratives are.

Agreed, the thematic content of the series is often overlooked. I'd say as a whole Yakuza/LAD is a great example of engaging storytelling triumphing over good storytelling/narrative. By making thr characters relatable and nailing certain interactions the devs ensure that, for the most part, the audience are interested to see how the characters develop. Now, the biggest flaw I'd level at the creatives is that the writers are overreliant on the redemptive arc to the point of parody but I can't blame them wholly in this regard. A character redemption is emotionally powerful and is a "quick and easy" way of engaging the audience. I wonder how many Judgment players for example truly liked Hamura before his redemptive turn towards the game's conclusion? I'd speculate that most would've considered him an unlikeable character prior to those moments.

I love how when kiryu got the drawing he establishes it as "drawing of haruka" rather than "Fan's drawing",it adds more of a deeper psychological meaning saying kiryu doesn't really care how people thinks of him or haruka but rather is happy for the people who are huge fans of haruka while being also caring for her more than anything else

Irsyadi Aryadiva it's Japan. If Persona 5 and many if those courtroom drama taught us is that Japan treasure reputation and tradition above anything. One mistake (regardless of you are proven innocent) or if you haven't been raised in an ideal family environment will forever outcast you by the public. This is why lawyers are frown upon and why Majima said it was better to have Captain Grab Ass pay for the drinks instead of turning him in.

That is pretty much why people like Kiryu are the protagonists. He cares not for his reputation and status. He only cares about it if it affects the lives of the people he loves. Kiryu spits in the face of all the prejudice and judgment and can literally punch any asshole that wants to hurt his family. That's what makes him a hero.

This little sidequest speaks of how unfair life is to Kiryu: Even a kid could figure out easily that Kiryu is nothing more a loving father of a girl who loves singing. Not an evil Yakuza sending her daughter to idol industry for bad purposes. Too bad Kiryu and Haruka had to give up that much in their lives just to clear out the suspensions being pinned from adult world.

Mukuro Ikusaba Yeah, the doll girl story was simple and make sence. Haruka biggest fan have some mistake like, Why the mother suddenly just leave her, just because she still like Haruka. The girl didn't have real reason to trust Kazuma. In doll girl Majima warm her to go home and save her from thugs. It kinda goofy for a pawn shop sell an old poster of Haruka, maybe it's because I'm never seen a real life pawn shop. It's nice to make little connection for this game theme, fatherhood (in my case). Come on just make Kazuma have sex with Anri Okita the former porn star. Anri was quit because she wanted to have a better life.

If you don't buy the picture from the pawn shop right away, you can wander around a bit, get into a few random street fights, maybe go for a meal. I'm not sure exactly what triggers it. But if you leave it a bit and go back to the pawn shop the owner will tell you he just sold the Haruka picture to someone else. When you leave the shop, go left back out onto Nakamichi Street, where you'll see some thugs bullying a guy wearing green who bought it. Kick their butts and the guy will give you the picture as a reward. Nice way to save 50k if your strapped for yen in the early game :)
