The Bears that year were something really special. But as soon as both Mike Brown and Tommie Harris went down, that defense never looked the same again. the offense could never stay on the field long enough too against the Colts in the Super Bowl that year

Sometimes it's worth remembering that life can be really unfair to some...and a lot of the very best in the game also had a lot of luck on their side too in terms of staying healthy

Finding a 3 technique DT who can rush the passer like that is so rare but those players have such an impact on the game. It’s a real shame he was never able to fully recover from that injury

Looking back, Tommie Harris for sure was on his way to being something great. Your words on Aaron Donald are nothing short of facts. A lot has changed the last 15 years or so involving kicking. Field goal kickers, the goal posts shrinking in width, kick offs from the 30 instead of 25. Accuracy and the rate of kickers moving around the league seems to be at an all time high.

Before 1974 when the goalposts were moved back to the end line, and the touchback rules were changed, a lot more missed FGs were returned. Its a rare play now. This is an unusual occurrence because its not an end of half or game return. That's almost always the only time you see a missed long FG return now, because a missed kick gets restarted at the spot of the kick since they changed the rules (originally it was changed from a touchback to putting it on the scrimmage line but is now the spot of the missed kick)

I remember this game. The week before The Bears got upset by the Dolphins at home and Rex Grossman looked awful. People forget before that Arizona Game Rex was playing awesome. Then, as underdogs at Giants, Rex looked like Pre-Arizona Game Rex, Bears Defense looked dominant again, and Hester and Bears Special Teams were doing their thing. 2006 Bears Special Teams=Greatest Single Season Special Teams Group Ever.
