a) Devin's use of reverb, in concert, is both the deepest-layered (since Tangerine Dream) and the most rhythmic/melodic since primal man first screamed into the Grand Canyon.... while falling off the edge (simulateous w/the discovery of gravity) b) best pinky-raised-sip-of-water-pre-scream, ever. (get ready, England.. here it comes). c) god-level-guitar-chorus is another use reverb and soft-attack'd echo repeats... also, Devin's guitars are almost always tuned in Open C, which gives the players a lot of very simple options within 4 frets (and across 3 octaves) so voicings can be GREAT fun. ... and no... not happy... yet. Plz do Higher/Plovdiv

He has something like 24 albums. They range from atmospheric lushness to full on crushing death metal. Leave aside the reactions, you could spend weeks and not hear his whole catalog. But it is so worth the dive. The guy "paints" with music. He actually sees notes as colors - and that translates. He is not everyone's cup of tea as you say, but I believe every word the man sings. He just moves the emotions. He just does. You can do the official song for those of us surviving COVID lockdown -- "Spirits will Collide" the official video is remarkable.

Devin typically plays in Open C or Open B. He has developed a hand stretch that is almost unrivaled. I’ve been playing for years and still can not make the 3 to 8 stretch in the middle of this song.

Yes finally! One of my all time favorite songs. Devin Townsend is a real genius. You should definitely listen to other songs like Kingdom, LOVE or Failure. Great video as always 🖤🤘🏼

Thanks a lot, but We’re not done yet! 😂 Please do Failure performed at Plovdiv. It will show you yet another level of Devin’s guitar and singing skills. Frikin’ amazing stuff!

There isn't a vocalist like him or who comes close in terms of sheer improvisational ability. His cleans and fry are so beautifully delineated. He's so effortless and brilliant. Watching his live performances is incredible.

Look out some of his acoustic stuff - Funeral reduced to his voice and a guitar is wrenching.

Happy to donate to your channel for a Devin Townsend request. The discovery for me, has been so special. I was in a dark spot - to the point that I questioned the value of mm own life. A lovely community member turned me on to Ghost. His beautiful album that really helped me. Getting to know him more, the harder I lean on his vibes of empathy, spirituality and inspiration. Cheers

Hey Nerd, been subbed since around 400 people(i think... its been a bit). Its been fun watching you grow. I'd be ok with you doing Freebird... but I can't imagine you not having heard it before... many times no doubt. couple of cool songs by Devin to check, ill just rattle off like 5. Genesis Why Evermore Juular March of the Poozers Personal favorite is Why's official video. I feel like I'm the space man. He also did Why, but of him solo in lockdown and an octopus plushie... Yea.

I think the reason you’ll see the same songs requested repeatedly is because people want to request something that others will back them up on, and that will hopefully get you some views. Devin has hundreds of songs in various styles, but you will likely get requests for Funeral/Bastard/Death of Music from Royal Albert and Why? from his quarantine concert. There’s a pattern to these things. Since you mentioned solos, you’ll probably also hear Deep Peace and Failure from Plovdiv. All of these are great next steps, don’t get me wrong.

@@OldSkuleNerd - I'm sorry to hear that. I usually reply with a warning that Deadhead at RAH has a high chance to get blocked :( Which one is still blocked? There's some tricks in editing that could get you out. That's why I usually pick songs in my requests that are deemed pretty safe, although I totally get it if you don't want to keep swimming upstream. I'd be just as happy knowing you had a nice time checking him out and will continue doing do in your personal time instead of yT. Here's some songs that do far seemed safe: * Higher! Plovdiv - great example of crowd participation + a choir and orchestra * Failure Plovdiv - got a guitar solo * Why quarantine - just him, keeping his fans entertained in lockdown * Love/Life CBC - acoustic, rewrote some of his songs for a solo tour. Quite entertaining. Oh and if you want to see the skullet I referred to: * Strapping Young Lad - Love? * Strapping Young Lad - Wrong Side For some quintessential HevyDevy

I just hope you don't have to worry about copyright issues. There've been a few people who had to take down their Deadhead reactions for some copyright thing. Probably Sony related somehow, wouldn't surprise me.

Amazing vocals, so incredible good. Soundwise and in the parts with Devins softer vocals, it reminded me a little of Roger Waters and Pink Floyd.

One of the problems with the Albert Hall is that it's a rotunda - if some of the system is off, even with a drummer, you can't pick a tempo.

I believe the guitar is made by Framus... You know that doubleneck Marco Hietala uses? Same company that makes the guitar part. Owned by Warwick basses.
