I have this bike, it's just a quintessential "trail" hardtail bike. I really love it.

Nicely spec'd for the price. Perfect for the eastern rockies, and well invested in the things to provide confidence (tires/brakes), which using good performing mid-spec (Deore XD based). Seems like its built to a point that upgrades are really only for weight than anything (Wheels/hubs)

My first new mountain bike, bought one 2 years ago. Couldnt afford a full sus bike then. I updated the fork travel to 140mm. I rode the hell out of this in dozens of bike parks and other trail centers and local bomb trails. It took all of it without missing a beat. I just got a new bike but I think this will always be my first true love.

same, got a 2021 model when it got a new generation, got the SLX variant (which was discontinued after the first year for some reason, the highest spec available is now Deore), it's a good bike although I think I got it in a size too large for me. I don't understand when you say you upgraded the fork to a Bomber Z2, it literally comes from the factory with a Z2

@@oliviersavard8676 I mean I added travel from 130 to 140. I'll edit to make more sense. I have the SLX build too. I really love it. Gonna keep it and keep riding it even tho I just got a 170/170 travel enduro ebike thats a total killer

It's a good thing at this level to have external routing, saves a lot of bike shop trips for new users, as a long time neighborhood cyclist I've been mandated quite a lot to urgently cut, connect & bleed sos much rear brake upgrades 😂

I love my kobain, bought it last year. Since then I've done some upgrades like a short stem with high rise bars, new saddle, xt shifter/derailleur and 203mm rotors with 4piston caliper brakes.

first real bike for me, i got a 2021 model back in august of '21 when they were still only available in very limited quantity (i was supposed only to get one in spring of '22 but i was called by the bike shop in august to tell me they had one available), and it's a SLX variant (which was discontinued after one year for some reason, now the best available kobain is the deore variant). i live like 45 minutes away from the factory and the closest trails to me are the ones a few minutes away from the factory where they test all their bikes, so going with devinci was a no brainer. i'd have picked it up from the factory if it was possible but it isn't. i love the bike, it looks good, works well and it's made locally with locally-produced aluminium.

How does Devinci make frames in Canada and still offers better value than many of the big brands?

to be fair they don't make all their frames in chicoutimi, they make the chainsaw (and chainsaw dh), the marshall, the e-troy, the kobain and the minus here, the other bikes are made elsewhere (although they are designed here). i don't think they have the capability to make their own carbon frames.

@@oliviersavard8676 I did read that, but the fact that they make bikes like this and the Marshall in Canada and yet they're still competitively priced is just very impressive to me.

If it's an mt410 brake, wouldn't that make it a 4 pot? The MT200s is their 2-pot brakes.

Did you have any rattle with the Z2 and their bushings that have issues with premature wear?

no they don't sell the frame by itself, nor do they do it for the other lower end models

@@oliviersavard8676 Seems like such a waste. The British brands are good at making both frames and complete builds available, even with less expensive bikes. I can think of at least two Canadian value hardtails that would shine with better components and the only way to do this us to buy the lowest price spec and junk stuff, which isn't cool.

@@numbers7905they used to sell the frame for the sabbath (their dirt jumper) a while back, but they discontinued it in 2022 and it was only available as a complete bike. to be honest they don't offer as much stuff as they used to, especially in the road segment. they used to offer a ton of road models and city models, now they only sell one road bike and one gravel bike and they're literally the same frame (they have the same name), they're just specced a bit differently. they have one "fitness" bike and one city bike in two variants each, that's it. they have one road/gravel frame, one hybrid frane, one city frame. nothing else.
