I wouldn't really consider inaccuracy a luck based mechanic. Every weapon in cs go is inaccurate to some degree over long range. Spraying would be a luck based mechanic.
@Chipplez9 жыл бұрын
Slayback16 eh, i see what you mean, but I still think scout should be more accurate since barely any use at close range, and it's fairly unreliable at long range.
@Slayback169 жыл бұрын
If valve ever increase the long range accuracy of the scout they might have to reduce the damage over range as well. Either that or increase the price, but the scout is still a great weapon as it is. I know people who got to global using scout and pistol only.

Well, in the same way that people don't like realistic driving in video games (an 'arcade-y' feel is preferred), making the weapon 100% accurate will take some of the 'fun' from it. There is a reason there is only a really small portion of gamers play CPMA (playmorepromode.org) or competitive tf2. I play both, and I prefer when the player with the better movement and accuracy wins, but that is not friendly to the general public.

+Spriteyy b back bby A skill based game doesn't have to be 100% skill 0% luck. Both competitors experience a degree randomness, while preforming a wide range of skill. (Not just aiming) In any competition, one trial cannot properly determine which is "better," and the more random elements are involved, the more trials are needed to determine which is "better," hence best of 30 rounds in CS:GO comp. Even Poker, a game with a much higher degree of random elements, has players who more often succeed than others over a long period of time. One or two hands of poker will never determine a players skill, but 4,000-10,000 hands of poker can better determine said skill. (Yes, Poker is considered a game of skill, overall)

@EvsEntps2 жыл бұрын
It's deliberate because Valve aren't interested in rewarding aim-excellence but rather want an unpredictable spectacle. They've tailored the RNG to prevent consistency while still giving enough accuracy to convince the player to come back and play the slot machine some more. Another reason is that it's a cheap way to solve the problem of highly experienced players learning maps so well that they can pre-aim any angle and perfectly insta-headshot enemies as they come around the corner. Valve's approach is essentially capping the skill-ceiling of the game when it comes to aim.

It's really questionable that you can be on someone's head and still miss. What place does a random bullet deviation have in cs go? We do not want any random factors in a game like cs go, if you aim on the head, you should hit the headshot, nothing else should happen. And no, balancing weapons by making them inaccurate at range isn't a way to balance a gun, you can balance guns many other ways that wont affect the integrity of the game.
@Disconnected669 жыл бұрын
+ZiZou idk man doesn't seem to affect pro players negatively. Because they took the time to learn it, enabling them to balance certain engagements as worth/notworth. You don't see a pro player push into pit with an ak and base their sole push off picking people with the AK on A site. Because each gun has strengths and weaknesses. Damage and accuracy falloff with certain guns means you need to manipulate your positioning and the enemies positioning to create a favorable situation for yourself. The game isn't supposed to be realistic, it's supposed to be balanced. It's not like if you're on CT side you have less falloff distance with guns. That's what I'll never understand why people will blame shit like 64 tick because EVERYONE on the server is dealing with the same thing, learning how to play with what is available is how you get better at the game. It's the same mentality here, there has to be a level of risk/reward with your economical purchases and your positioning whilst holding/pushing sites etc. The randomness is within reason. Even when spraying a gun like the AK-47, you have to understand that having a slight variation in the spray pattern while it still maintains the same course is not unbalanced. If you still control the spray the way it's done, you will still hit your shots. I really don't understand all this complaining about the game mechanics. There are other factors in the game that are way more detrimental that WEREN'T intended and need to be fixed. But Valve is a business not a professional tailor. Can't make it fit for every single person :)
@Raptorftw9 жыл бұрын
too long didn't read. What do you mean it doesn't seem to affect pro players negatively? It affects everyone that plays the game. Everyone misses shots that they should hit because of this. You play hours and hours of DM to perfect your aim but still even if you manage to put the crosshair on opponent's head, you might miss. You can do everything perfectly and still miss your shot. That is retarded. Stuff like this doesn't have any place in the biggest competitive shooter.
@Disconnected669 жыл бұрын
***** okay well don't respond about how you didn't read and then try to counter my argument. And even if you were jut saying that, you obviously didn't read it. So go back, read through it because I already answered that question. Thinking that you should be able to 1tap someone across the map just because it's an AK-47 is you not understanding how video games work.
@Raptorftw9 жыл бұрын
+TeamAlibi These comments you're making are just straight up retarded. " If you still control the spray the way it's done, you will still hit your shots" Well that is clearly not possible. You've trained your muscle memory to control the spray as the spray should go. You can't predict if the spray is going to deviate from what it should be as it happens randomly. How can you hit your shots if everything that you've practiced goes out of the window because of randomness? You can't. Randomness doesn't have ANY place in a competitive shooter. If you need luck to be on your side as well when you're doing everything perfectly, then something is wrong with the game.
@Disconnected669 жыл бұрын
***** ok but are you trying to say that when you practiced the spray it was not random, but now it is? I mean.. I don't follow. If it doesn't have any place, it wouldn't work.

@jhesntles81108 жыл бұрын
No it does not. The timer is what changed. At the time of the video the timer was different, and DevinDTV properly accounted for the timer. This means that each shot was shot with the maximum accuracy. IF DevinDTV were to repeat the experiment now using the same timings as before, then his results would be off. The timing, once properly accounted for, has no relevance to the topic of the video.

Where you aim on the head at 2000 units of range doesn't matter. Imagine the head being circular-shaped. The radius of the spread circle (i.e the area where your shots can land) is about 61% larger*. So now, draw the small circle within the bigger one. You will see that if you move the smaller circle around, it will still be covered by the larger circle even if they do not share center in the same point. Only if a part of the smaller circle "leaves" the bigger circle are you more likely to miss. If the head had a circular shape, you could nearly shoot at the left or right end of it and still have the same chance to hit. Now, because of the cylinder shape of the hitbox you can definitely shoot at the very end of it. Just not as much above or below. * πr^2 where r is the head's radius. πR^2 where R is the radius of the spread circle. πr^2/(πR^2)=0.386 R=1.61r

This is true for every weapon except the spread from a shotgun which is a cone, although inaccuracy and spread are two different things and I haven't 100% tested the shotguns' actual inaccuracy and I'd rekken that that's also a square.

and such is also the case in real life gunfights. in real life, sometimes guns jam when you need them to fire most. They overheat with rapid fire which lowers accuracy, they get dirty which causes more malfunctions, when you reload, you don't miraculously find all the cartridges from the half empty magazine conveniently loaded up into the next. In real life there is no bright colored green crosshair that indicates the exact center of your point of aim. You have to look down the sights and line them up to even think about hitting something further than 10 yards away. But this is CS:GO. it's fine. None of the guns make any sense at all. SMGs are the only ones that behave as they should. A 12 gauge shotgun will kill or incapacitate in 1 shot, 92% of the time. That is a statistical fact, yet 9 pellets of 00 buck, the same size as 9mm rounds each, won't kill an enemy, even at point blank range unless you hit their head. But I'm sure you can kill them with less than 9 shots with any pistol. AK-47s are terribly inaccurate and even less consistent about it. They are good out to about 300m in real life with a scope, and only if it's Russian made and in good condition. A given AK-pattern rifle you might find in the world would serve you well to put all of it's shots within 6 inches of each other at only 100m. I think i've made my point abundantly clear. CS isn't realistic at all, it never has been, but it's fun.

And another one. Great stuff ^^ This removes so much "skill" from the game ... wish they would remove this, rewarding players who actually have good aim. I find myself watching demos and being 100% on head, yet missing all my shots while both myself and my opponent are standing still / crouching. Triggers me xD

You can increase your chances of headshots on AK47 by aiming with your closest to the center of screen lower right pixel. Why? Because ak47 spread is moved to the right side a bit even for first 2 bullets(testes myself just like you did but to determine where first bullets go: to the bottom side of the crosshair or to the upper side of the crosshair, to the left side or to the right side... The answer is: For AK47 first bullets go to the bottom right side.

No gun should have RNG bullet bloom (besides unscoped snipers.) It's so stupid that this randomness is in a competitive arcade shooter like CSGO/2.

But you have to realize that the AK 1 shots the head, the M4 dosen't. So with that fact it kind of equalize the weapons?
@Frikgeek8 жыл бұрын
+Rasmus Nielsen Except the SG553 exists and is also a 1hit headshot, kills much faster to the body than any CT rifle(0.13s faster than the AK too), and is pretty much perfectly accurate for almost any range you'll encounter on official maps. And it's super unfair in modes where CTs don't have an advantage by camping(like deathmatch for example).

I agree that CS GO guns should be very accurate when standing still and shooting your first bullet, however, I do think that it is good that there is a bit of inaccuracy with the guns depending on what the style of the gun is. I think they should up the accuracy from long range with the snipers a bit more (especially the scout) and the assault rifles (M4's, AK's, etc.), but still have that "cone of where the first bullet goes," just make the cone smaller for those guns. I assume that pistols are extremely inaccurate from long range which I think is good. Short version: If there wasn't that small inaccuracy (which is too large right now), then spraying would probably be useless and everyone would be instantly headshotted and nothing interesting will happen (or at least for professional play it will be like that).

are there any good shots in cs? what is skill in an fps game, when the bullets dont hit? also, what is the emotional impact on gameplay from peekers advantage? does it ruin the fun?

what about when sidestepping, dosen't that give you a more accurate stop?
this coment is a year old but the sg553 unscoped has almost the half the inaccuracy of the ak47 and a little more accuracy than both m4 if you want to know more or less by your own experience the accuracy of the sg standing is about the same as the m4 accuracy crouch
