it makes sense why, since phones are already so expensive and basically nobody needs that much bass on the dinky phone speakers... but yeah i agree it sucks :(

It’s not how EVERYONE needs to REALLY practice scales, it’s just a way he figured was nice for him. If you practice and practice and practice you will develope your own techniques and tricks

This is the foundation of playing guitar/bass. If you can't do these things at the speed and confidence that he can then you need to practice more

The Mu'tet did a masterclass at my high school, and felix inspired me to set up my 5 string with a high string for more melodic/harmonic stuff instead of the usual low B

And this is one of the reasons why upright bass is more difficult. We often can’t have 3 notes in one position (except in thumb position) so having to shift and coordinate the shift with bow changing strings is really tough. If you want to feel like a real amateur play in slurred.

I'm an electric player but adopting a more horizontal approach has been life changing for me. I think that aspect of upright explains why so many good upright players are so much more facile across the neck than electric players. It was something I immediately noticed when watching Tom Kennedy play with Mike Stern a long time ago. He was so much more creative with articulation as a result of it too.

So what is more important? Impressing your grandma or the hot cookies? Btw. I impressed my grandmas too with playing the piano. No problem. Today I am a very bad boy because I undisguise stupid sqare heads in many fields. Usually it takes three days until the little puppies learn they better avoid a man with good teeth.
