@@DisgruntledHippo you missed everything I said. The government can build machines, it cannot build organs. I'm not sure why you refuse to comprehend this. It doesn't matter how much is spent in health care because there will still be limited organs. This means it will be hard to get the organs to everyone needing them. The military budget has absolutely nothing to do with the number of organs that exist. I'm not sure why you think it does. Guess what, in free heath care systems, they still don't have enough organs either. Surprised?

Damn, D. You got me. I haven't watched this since before my kids were born. In September of last year my youngest (15 mos at the time) was hospitalized with that latest "tridemic" virus. He ended up getting pneumonia. At the same time the Pediatric ICU was flooded with children. To the point that they had to reroute cases to other hospitals. I saw little ones getting put on respirators. Heard families screaming because their kid didn't make it. It was the damn scariest thing I've ever been through. I would have easily given my life for him in that moment. I don't think there's a movie that better expresses that love than John Q. It pisses me off that Denzel won for Training Day, but not John Q.

I saw this movie when it first came out and the lengths this father went to in order to save his son's life is absolutely incredible and touched the very depths of my heart. I know this is a true story and don't think this father should've gotten any flack for doing what any loving parent would do. I cannot believe this childs parents would have to pay so much money coming up with 75,000 in order to put a child on a recipient list etc and He did the right thing. I'd walk across fire, glass and to the end of earth for my sons.

I'm glad you loved John Q as well. It is one of my top two favorite Denzel Washington movies (the other one is Inside Man) Fun Fact: Denzel Washington was the first choice to play John Archibald, if he had said "no" they would have gone for Tom Hanks, but Denzel Washington loved the script, said, "yes" and the rest is history. Another Fun Fact: Kimberly Elise's (Denise Archibald) father is one of the jurors in court. As a Canadian I was surprised that the Americans did not adopt the same kind of healthcare system that my country has after this movie came out.

I feel where those medical execs are coming from. In my job working the finances for International patients at the largest hospital in the US sometimes it is my job to tell people no, they can't have that treatment because it's financially infeasible. As a person it kills me and I've found it's easier for me and honestly for the patient to just be matter of fact about it. Inside I just wish I had an option to get them what they wanted but we can't be everything for everybody. It's one of those 90/10 situations where 90% of my job it fine and I enjoy the interactions with people but man that 10% hits real hard.

That's dope asf that you reacted to this movie. In my early 20s I worked with school age kids. I actually worked with Daniel Smith at a before and after school program when he was a kid filming this movie. Him and his mom had moved to LA for him to shoot the film and his father and brother still lived in Az. His brother continued going to the before and after school program and every once in a while Daniel and his mom would come back to visit. I've seen the real full script of this movie and had the picture of Daniel, Denzel and the woman who played his mom that's pinned to the wall during the scene where Denzel is sitting in his room.

There's a reason people recommend these movies, they're very well done and very touching and connect with people on a lot of levels. Not every movie connects with every person, but when you're watching so many good ones that handle so many subjects you come across some that just resonate. It's part of what's great about reaction content is seeing what touches which person, a movie you might cry at another person won't feel anything and a movie that didn't touch you at all could have someone else in tears. You always are able to empathize with movies that show love and sacrifice and loss and that tells us about who you are, what you've been through, what you value, and how you see the world.

You continue to surprise me with your choices Devin! Another good, emotional kind of film that's kind of overlooked, I think. Denzel was excellent as always in this, as was the rest of the cast, a lot of legendary actors like James Woods and Robert Duvall. It's crazy to me that it received mostly negative reviews from most critics when it came out, yet did fairly well at the box office. I guess the critics weren't able to put themselves in John's shoes and think about what they may have done in this situation. Another crazy thing is that it was at least partly inspired by a true event, something very similar happened in Toronto a few years before this came out, a man held an ER hostage when they wouldn't give his infant son immediate care on New Years Eve. When he exited the ER he was shot and killed by police only to be found to have been carrying a simple pellet gun that wasn't even loaded. Tragic. Regardless, enjoyed your reaction, and I still have my fingers crossed that you may react to Lord of War(2005) with Nicholas Cage one of these days, just gonna keep on asking til you do. Until then, peace out, my dude!😁

I saw this movie after I was in a very terrible motorcycle accident, I spent months in the hospital a underwent many surgeries. Then came years in a wheelchair and more years of therapy. The entire time I was fighting for my life and to a lesser extent worried about losing .y limbs ,I had to go through hell worrying about and fighting over the money the hospital was trying to squeeze out of me!!! I fortunately had an attorney that assured me we had an open and shut case. But the heartless hospital would not let the whole money situation go. I even assured them along with my attorney that the hospital bills would be the first bills paid. They still made my life a living hell for the entire time. So this movie really hit a nerve with me ,understanding exactly how heartless and money hungry hospitals can be....thank goodness the settlement was indeed open and shut in record time. And the hospital bills were indeed the first bills paid....I hope they were happy about that.

that bedside scene with his boy messes me up every time. There is an entire generation of grown men (and women) who will bawl like babies when Denzel dies. He and the characters he brought to life, filled in the gaps for a lot of us who either didn't have dads, had part-time dads, or just have very flawed dads. In two hour blocks of movies, he was our mentor and role model.

Bro, You are my favorite reactor on KZbin. My lady says you and me sound so alike that when I'm watching one of your reactions, she thinks I'm downstairs watching a movie!

@DevinG I am a gold star mother/gold star grandmother. I would deeply appreciate you doing a reaction to the movie “Taking chance.“ If you ever see this just know that I truly respect your service and thoroughly enjoy your reactions.

I'm sorry for your losses. It may not seem like it, but a grateful nation appreciates it. That movie makes me bawl every time too, watch it every Memorial Day. It just so happened i was deployed to Iraq when this happened. Although in no way do i know Chance, just a coincidence.

What a great movie to react to. Thank u!!! One of my sons favorites. I wanted to name my son Denzel. I gave in. He's Steven Alexander. He admires Denzel so much. Kinda freaked when I told him that's what I wanted to name him. I've always been a fan ever since Carbon Copy.

This movie is criminally underrated. You should watch Out of Time, it's another one of Denzel's underrated gems.

I'm right there with you I'm 6 ft not as big as u but I'm a bit muscular & have tattoos & as many times as I've seen this i never not cried. Even when watching reactions I mean when he says I'm not gonna bury my son my son is gonna bury me even just now typing it im starting to tear up. I'm damn proud of it too I'm glad I got the empathy to cry even when its just a movie. That just shows how good the acting, writing & directing is in a film.

There are men, there are fathers, and then you have fathers of sons. This movie hits you on so many levels words fail to do it justice. Quick trivia info, the next actor thought of for the role after Denzel was Tom Hanks.

16:10) i believe that line about being a vampire is actually a joke towards a movie that James Woods (the doctor) was the lead role, which was "(John Carpenter's) Vampires" (1999). This movie was 2002.
