Have a look at Ross Edgley. Notable accomplishments include a marathon pulling a 1.4 ton car, running 1,000 miles barefoot with a 50kg bag, swimming across the Caribbean pulling a 45kg tree, and lastly.. completed a 1,792 mile swim around Great Britain.

When I was a Marine I think the longest force marches I've been on is over 32 KM with about an 85 pound pack and weapon, canteens, body armor etc... my feet were cooked by the end. My skillset was always better at running. But It was much harder to march with speed than to run a marathon.

Hes super human if he pulls it off, even path finders would think that shit is crazy.. Ive seen people quit and throw themselves into ditches to get out of heavy rucks after 10km. Ive also seen guys complete them with stress fractures in their legs from the weight. So I guess anything is possible, but 100kg is whole entire new level, I dont know how his shoulders will survive, the mental battle is going to be real, never mind if his feet and legs survive. He better have some good ass boots. Itd be more impressive if he did it in mk4's with the hockey puck soles.

Brutal, I'm already following him on his IG. If it wasn't for the fact that it's an ultra marathon for a charity, I would think it was one of the most fucked up and unimaginable forms of mental and physical torture. As an athlete, I can't stop thinking about how his spinal discs, knees and feet would withstand all the possible wear and damage and all the pain that completing such an unparalleled feat would entail. (And achieving it without any sequelae, considering he's been preparing for a while). Mind and fighting spirit over matter put to the test. If he succeeds, it will be correct to call him a superhuman. Insane feat.

I can't imagine what jogging or even walking with a 60-pound pack for 40 miles a day for 10 straight days will do. If he comes out of that without injury, the dude is Iron Man himself...

Definitely sounds nuts, and I don't have your experience with heavy bags. I do have some experience with small weight over distance, and it's pretty wild how much of an effect it has on performance. Did a self supported marathon with 3L or water + food and it added about 20 min to what I could do not carrying the weight, plus put enough strain on my knees that I hit a big wall at 20 miles. I also used to do a self supported 40 mile hike on the Appalachian Trail every year with a buddy who was into Triathlons, which ended up being 3-4L of water plus food and emergency gear that totalled about 12-14lb. It would take us 12-16 hours depending on how fit we were that year, and we always walked funny / slow for a couple days after that. Weighted long distance at pace is no joke. I wish this nutjob luck! There are some real specimens out there, so hopefully this guy is one of them!

He needs to find some ways to put extra support on his knees and ankles I suppose. The 100 kg marathon is probably toughest part. 40 miles for 8 days doesn't sound fun either. It's doable, I guess, if your body doesn't break down too bad. You need to always be wearing dry socks to avoid blisters. Also he needs to find a way to get a lot of calories into his body. If he can avoid an injury and he can keep his mind hard, it can be done, but holy moly will it be a hell to go through.

When I was in the millitary, near the end of our 14 months training, we had a week in which we walked around 30km each night, and i was carrying 103 pounds on me. We were in really good shape leading up to that week so it wasnt that hard. I mean, of course it sucked and hurt but no one was breaking mentally or something. I had like 20 more weight than everybody because I had the Negev. Today if ill do it itll be EXTREMELY hard. You get used to walking with weight. So those 10 days sound reasonable to me. BUT the first day is absolutely insane. 100 kgs is just an enormous amount of weight, the most ive seen someone carry is around 60 for long distance walks. Tldr: The first day is absolutely insane, which makes the rest of the days insane also. If it werent for the first day - hard, but doable for a fit and determined army guy.

Now as a lawn technician(not mower), i carry a 50lbs backpack, pull a 75lbs hose and push up to 100lbs all day, every day on all terrains and in every weather situation wearing PVC boots. 13k that's it were you in the Infantry because I was in Airborne infantry tried to go to the Rangers but I didn't realize every single person in the Infantry wants to be a ranger so the odds of being able to get there are almost impossible I made it all the way through to the end and it came down to just physical fitness and my weakness was sit-ups I just I can barely do 60 sit-ups in 2 minutes where people are doing freaking 100 100 120 sit-ups and 2 minutes and freaking 95 push-ups I wasn't so bad I could do like 85 88 I ran my 2 mi on average of 10 minutes and 35 seconds 14k that's not even that far it's like what I can't do the math right now I'm a little hammered but a kilometer a clicks 0.6 of a mi so 6 * 14 is what 8 miles when we did our tests like that we did 20/25 MI and I think we would have it done within 11 hours and no I wasn't freaking using my rucksack to put air balloons or water balloons in there and stuff it so it's super light cuz they would only wear your bag very very occasionally if ever because they're counting on your fortitude to make the right decision so I'm guessing you weren't in the Infantry does 14k that's nothing I guarantee you this generation 1819 year olds couldn't freaking do it but I mean are rucksack way in between 60 to 8090 lb and if you're doing long-distance patrolling you would take quite a bit of stuff out of there that wasn't necessarily important to lighten your load because full combat rucksack infantry depending on what you're doing like I was in weapon Squad so that means heavier rucksack because you're either carrying a bunch of rounds or you're carrying the tripod or you're carrying the freaking 240 I want to multiple schools but one of them was for the javelin that was super cool I was top of my class so I actually got to fire that round missile whatever out of the class and back then never costing like 250,000 but that was in 2000 to 2004 when I was deployed in the 82nd Airborne Infantry since I didn't make it through rip to get into the ranger battalion because I just had no clue I was in good health I just couldn't do those sit-ups in 2 minutes I mean sometimes I'd be as low as like 55 when people are cranking out damn near 120 in 2 minutes but luckily I joined the force right before they went super freaking woke and all the BS even though that really didn't filter down to the Infantry we still did all the hazngs cuz it's part of earning your right to even call yourself a soldier that's the first thing after you pass your first 8 weeks you can earn the right to be called a soldier and then you got to go through AIT and they wrapped it all up in one so I was in boot camp for freaking 20 weeks hadn't seen a woman in Forever those black big fat nasty cooks are starting to look good LOL and blood wings and all the good traditional stuff you want to go through as being in the army😅 my boot camp class was the last to do the 25 mile road March for your whole week or whatever to earn your right to be called a soldier now leave lowered it down to like I think 1415 K which is just ridiculous and are drill sergeant still hit us and what do you think that people nowadays would freak out about but that's part of being in the Infantry if you can't handle somebody freaking smacking around or hitting you in your stomach if you can't handle that they go be a non infantry Pogue like somebody that writes our checks every month and does paperwork outside of that we're preparing soldiers for freaking war in combat which means if the enemy Works harder than you are you're going to die anyways sorry for the rant but I just thought I'd get my two cents out there since you're talking about the Army and I didn't know you were in there pretty cool bro more respect but I am guessing that you went on inventory which if I would have been smart I would have done because all I get now is a better bar story than you that's about it luckily I didn't really injure my body or cause any problems from doing f****** 20 mi runs and carrying 80 90 100 lb on my back for freaking 15 MI anyways I hope to God you get Brian Shaw going full blast we need him in America he's the Great American hope anyways have a nice day brother or I guess I can call you a soldier

2003 10th Mt division light infantry, even a basic soldier has to qualify twice a year 12.5 miles under 4 hours which is easy but that's almost 21 km if I'm right?

I got tired listening to this video. I would rather be a stillborn baby than have to do this. 😆
