Being American, this is a new take and very refreshing when you hear Devlin's voice when he raps. Its whole lot better than some of the pitchy rappers over here. Its actually real like BBC1 intended for it to be.

Have a feeling a lot of the negativity towards Devlin is based on the fact that people aren't used to this style of rap, or are comparing it to the mainstream American style rap. You really can't compare the two. British rap is its own style, own genre and is quite different to American rap. Same goes for other European rap, South African and Aussie rap, to name a few. All completely different styles. I personally like British rap, the flow is different but it works so well, and the accent is refreshing :-)

The top three comments are about each artists strange expressions during the video... musical artists shouldn't be worried about what they look like when they're totally focused on the delivery of vocals or instrumentation... usually the most heartfelt performances have the performers making some weird faces and movements. It's all natural.
