Devon's usual strategy: round one - 90% effort, feel opponent's hand weakness or strength, and let them win (if opponent can) round two - 110% effort, attacks the weakness or avoids the strength and tire them out round three - 100%, more of the same and drain their muscle further more round four, five, six - easy money short matches is harder for Devon endurance is always better for him, except the first title match against Michael Todd which he lost his hand and tired himself out Match against John Brzenk, John's biggest weapon are holding backpressure, hand control and side pressure. Devon took the hand but had to go with king's move to counter John's side pressure. Against Levan, It'll probably the similar strategy against Pushkar in a strap, high knuckle backpressure attacking the fingers, or a surprise deep inside hook like Genndi did. Levan strategy: Needs to Control center, Devon's hand, and Quick pins less that 10 seconds. Go with Flash and Quick pins and mix them up. Flash Hook pin, Flash Top roll, Flash Shoulder press, Flash Side pin, Don't mess with Devon's hand the first 4 rounds so he won't have enough time to feel out the weakness. If Levan can curl his wrest like Denis did to Devon's hand, Devon is toasted.

You'll have to use the Devon versus Michael Todd match, but unfortunately that doesn't give us much data either because of Michael's current record. Unfortunately, Devon level today is a bit of a mystery.

Completely agree. I think Devon looks insanely strong right now but Michael Todd's losing streak has been a bit sad to see. I think Hutching's comments on Devon's current state is probably the most interesting. I think Devon will use the Vitali match as his blueprint for a strategy. Probably the one advantage (other than tactics) Devon has over Levan is lever length, and Vitali seemed to have at least been able to weather the onslaught even if just for a few seconds. If anyone can find a way to use that more effectively, it's Devon. Again though, I won't risk predicting a winner. I believe, I hope, that it's going to be a fight.

With the vitaly match what I noticed was that vitaly, in the start of the first couple rounds at least, really was matched quite closely with levan. And on my 7th or 8th time watching the match I also noticed that vitaly was going for a low hand toproll but Levan was going for a high hand one. The King of the hill technical chart puts the high hand toproll as the technically ideal counter to the low hand top roll. I really think if vitaly had fought high hand to high hand against Levan, that match would’ve gone differently because vitaly also got pretty psychologically deflated after the first pin.

I don't believe that will be the case. Not every round. Did you see what Devon did to Brzenk? First round he used Kings move but his shoulder never dropped below the table unlike Michael Todd. Second round onwards he just straight up out muscled John and even flash pinned him. I believe this match could be similar in so much as Devon may lose two or three rounds but will make enough of a fight of it to tire Levan just enough to make it even from the centre. Then it will be a different fight. Levan does not have good endurance. Regardless it will be interesting.

John has pulled much stronger since that loss and I think would have had a better shot at pinning Devon if had waiting another six months. Personally I dont think any version of Devon, no matter his condition, beats Dave without using kingsmove - and that says alot. Dave had no chance vs Levan, couldnt move him out of center even once. So clearly the difference in power and hand control is huge between Devon and Levan. The obvious prediction is 6-0 Levan, but I hope we will see a war maybe in round 5 or 6. He pushes the limits of the rules in that aspect sure, but ask any great in any sport, they all do it. Devon very obviously has been much of the cause of the recent popularity of armwrestling. And you can tell he just wants to grow the sport. If he wins it will push the sport to new heights. I think his odds are slim to none tho.

Actually it’s the opposite… See how much stronger Dave Chafee was in that match and Devon Still beat him. Devon probably has 40 pounds extra lean muscle than he had back then. Current Devon would smash Dave Chafee relatively easily on that day. It all depends on the strength gap. In my honest yet probably controversial opinion in that the KINGS MOVE isn't really armwrestling. It's more of a tug of war bully move. It's a balance of instead of standing and pulling with ARMS you go to leaning the whole body back pulling with your body and arm while trying to stay on the pad. I just don't like im sorry. I'm old school and over the top was my movie. I'm use to seeing monsters stand at each other and unleashing the beast at the table. I scan DVT patients all day long. As serious and potentially life-threatening as it it is, it doesn't kill most people. But your right in saying that it can really affect someone's long term health. Having said that, most people who have it are unhealthy anyway (obese, poor cardiovascular system, poor diet, clotting issues etc), they aren't ex special forces ironman-winning arm wrestlers, so I think that's why Devon has jumped back from it so well.

Did you watch Travis baigant conference with Engin? Travis is confident that Devon will use an illegal kings. Move the first couple rounds to bleed Levon out. Devon will use the illegal Kings move even if he gets fouled, as long as and whatever it takes to bleed levon. He's willing to take the risk of getting a few fouls in order to win the later arounds. It kind of makes sense when Devon said in an older video that he's going to win in a way that will not be popular or what people will be expecting. It's going to be an interesting match, but Devon is training specifically for Levon.

Devons beaten John Brzenk the same year in 2008 in his prime, when John brzenk beat denis in his prime. And devon faced john after he beat Denis. And Devon beat John making him #1 in the world. The left handed match with denis was also the same year devon had surgery so he wasnt 100%. He said he only took the match because it was an opportunity to pull one if the greatests and he didnt wanna pass that up. But Devon himself said hes stronger than hes ever been. Just look at his newest measurements video, he has gotten bigger and stronger like never before.

Looking at the footage of Levan, I would think that his strategy would be to hit hard fast though that's not really his style. If he doesn't do that, Devon will be in a great position. I haven't seen much tape of guys moving Devon if they don't hit fast. Personally, judging from what I see, Levan doesn't do that. I'm not an arm wrestler, but this video made me feel better for Devon. It will be interesting regardless. Can't wait.

Devon has mastered the strap technique “king’s move.” They are masters of the twist they can get against your thumb and wrist. Bagent couldn’t pin crazy George…you can’t muscle against that technique. No doubt, Levon will have to give a little wrist away 1” from the pad by instinct to finish….that’s exactly what Devon wants! He did that to John and gassed his thumb and ligaments and then Devon could hold center. Todd and crazy George do it differently with a fast start to get the wrist give…Devon knows that’s not what he’s good at. If Devon has his thumb on top 1” from the pad you know Levan’s wrist is back.

You can't compare both men on how they handled guys like Dave that they both faced and beat. Devon and Levan have a different mentality, Levan wants to finish you as fast as possible where as Devon, in Dave's own words, likes to play with his food and try to embarrass his opponents. Dave says that is why people who hate Devon hate him, they see it as disrespectful whereas the fans see it as entertaining.

Levan won 4 of his 6 matches against Dave on fouls (Not Pins) yet 6-0 looks real nice to Levan's fans but under different rules like the ones Devon typically competes under, as does Dave, they would have had warnings and the strap. With all that going on there is a good chance Levan would have lost some of his strength. Verse Devon, that can hurt Levan's game plan big time and is exactly why Levan wants the strap to start to prevent the foul game from starting. Dave fights more like Levan than he does Devon with brute strength and that's what the outcome and how they got there can't be compared.

It’s not critically sound to compare them against Dave Chaffee because that was a much older, pre-pancake era. Devon has been a totally different arm wrestler since his life-threatening embolism. No one is considering what Hutchings has said about Devon. Hutchings is not given to exaggeration or speaking from emotion. If Hutchings says Devon has a chance I believe him.
