Thank you so much for sharing this. It was really nostalgic for me as I used to live in Devon, swim at Spitchwick Common and wild camp on the moors. What's interesting is that now I live elsewhere I want to go back and complete the walk you've done! It's true, you quite often don't appreciate the place you live. Well I didn't it would seem. Thanks again. Your channel is so informative and also an inspiration.

I have the 2 Moors Cicerone book and now your video guide - so there is no excuse not to tackle this one! I only hope my navigation and cow-whispering skills are up to it. Looking at the dates I was walking the Mendip Way at just the same time and looking across at Exmoor in the distance - metaphorical greetings from across the levels.

That was the same book I used, so certainly no excuse now! Yes greeting as we simultaneously endeavour to challenge ourselves across the moors and countryside. Mendips are certainly on my forever growing to do list. So many beautiful trails to do. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the series.

Great video which shows that this is such a fantastic and probably underrated trail. I’ve actually done the trail twice but just recently had to pull out at witheridge as I picked up some nasty stomach bug. I particularly enjoyed walking the old drovers paths across mid devon. Also found it wasn’t easy as there are a lot of hill across Devon 😂. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the trail in another one of your summaries. 👍

Totally agree with all your points, particularly the old drovers paths and as a trail I think it is underrated. Certainly planning to do another trail summary. Thanks for the comment as I really do enjoy receiving them. Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Cheers

Nice one Nigel, I attempted this one back at the start of August during that horrendous heatwave. I got rather awful heatstroke and unfortunately had to pull out in mid Devon. Some of the navigation was difficult and that path of bracken doesn’t bring back fond memories. Also had lunch in the same pub. Great job

I’ve been rather lucky and so managed not to be hiking in the heatwave. It must have been really tough and it’s quite often difficult to pull out when we’ve done all the planning and managed to get half way, but given the conditions I’m sure you did the right thing. Well hopefully, still great memories, the pub was great and you can complete the tour virtually 😁, hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Cheers

We did it last week, and had the benefit of local knowledge on the bracken so went up the road. Probably steeper and maybe longer but definitely worth it.

Yep, wish I'd know that, certainly think it would be worth it. Planning to do another trail summary like the PCP review video, so I might cover this point as well.

@@AmblingTrails Yes it was a very tough decision, not only was i feeling rather unwell but i wasn't quite making up the miles i would've done normally. Excited to see the rest of the trail and what i missed out on!
