Thanks for the reviews and updates. It's great to hear how responsive the devs are. Really looking forward to when this game releases on Steam.

I watched an interview with the devs made in 2014 (it's in russian, ofc) in which they told about getting tired of working for some1 else, who doesnt even listen to their ideas, so they decided to create their own company and make games which they would enjoy playing. They also emphasized the importance of listening to players. So yeah, listening and making good games is basically their main philosophy. They also give every person on the team a certain % of sales, so that every1 working on a game would be motivated to make it good.

That's really good to hear. It definitely feels that way. Do you know where this interview is? I would love to listen if there are subtitles available.

OK... about three days in (maybe 4 hours total) following the new patch. Things I noticed: 1) The focus of the game, tactical land battles, has been drastically improved. In previous battles, there was just enough room to form a line, and hammer away. In most cases I would be hitting triple fast forward and there wasn't a ton of thought to it. Now, the additional space drastically changes that concept. The Brits still head to the flanks, but now, getting your line in order, especially if there is significant distance between Regiments, is more of a challenge. This additional space also seems to give you better opportunity to catch fleeing units. Your Skirmishers are MUCH more important now with this added opportunity space. It is also possible to slip a few companies behind the enemy. You also seem to get slightly better weapon and ammo recovery following a battle. 2) On the Naval side, the devs went the historical route. It seems that it has been seriously nerfed. I'm actually OK with it because I am a fan of historical correctness. What I have noticed is, you have to take more chances. For most of the opening months, there is a Third Rate lurking in the Newport sea zone. However, while I'm not 100% about this, ships don't seem to "jump" anymore... and that used to make me furious. A British ship would engage a merchant ship, you would slip out of port and head to a new sea zone, and suddenly that British ship would "jump" across the sea zone to engage you. I will have to test this further. But if that's a fix... its a big one! With all that said, your days of making a living off of snagging and selling British ships... is kinda over. The bonus for selling captured ships has been MASSIVELY reduced. Have not gone far enough to see if making and selling is now the better option. 3) Managing the economy is still a mystery, I'll be honest... However, the added building slots for cities is a drastic change in the game. It seems that the additional slots exist in higher pop cities. It simply makes sense, and it seems to have been implemented well. Early on though, without that boost of selling of ships for cash, I feel I'm constantly struggling to stay above zero. Now, historically, that's accurate, so I'm not gonna complain to hard... but it really limits your options. 4) On the strategic map, and I would love to hear the experience of others, the AI seems WAY more active. Regiments will immediately pop out if GW is scouting. That may actually be able to be used as a trap because they do it so often. It seems like there are constantly British regiments on the move. They came out hard against me and took Leister early on, which I don't ever recall seeing before. They loaded it up as well, and made progress in capturing Ft. Rice and Hubbarton very tricky. Overall, the game continues to evolve, which always makes a purchase worthwhile based on the fact that the game doesn't become stale and predictable, a massive problem when always playing against AI. The Devs are clearly listening, while also attempting, I think, to make the game as historically accurate as possible, which I truly respect. Excited to see how the rest of the campaign plays out. Thank you for continuing to post the updates! It seems some of the other Gaming You Tubers may have moved off this game to a degree and seem to be waiting for the Steam release. Thanks for staying right on top of it!

Yeah there have been a lot of great changes in the patch and hotfixes. I definitely agree on all of your points. I make the update videos because a lot of people don't have access to the discord, or even if they do they seem to miss everything that Sterner posts. I'm also very active there so I feel like I can adequately explain the changes. I see some big KZbinrs try to talk about the game still, and it is clear they don't keep up with it, nor have they played it recently as the things they talk about are outdated.

I also totally agree with you about this game. I want it to be great. I enjoyed the whole 20 ep playthrough!

I hope the recouping of weapons gets to be like UGCW some, in the aspect of recouping some of your own weapons after a battle.

I dont wanna join their discord (I just dont have one), so could you ask them to think about some ideas? Like increasing the number of building slots when population reached a certain threshold (like in Rome, Medieval TW)? Town economy growth like in Empire, Napoleon and Shogun 2 TW would be really cool. And also I'd like to see more importance of population (I'd like taxes to depend on it), and slaves (their impotance for the economy, slave trade with Africa, slave unrest, ability to ban slavery), and POV. After all, it's always about people. I'd like to see plantations, native villages (and colonist villages that could become towns like in Empire TW), tensions between north and south (and that states are not a single country) and that kind of stuff. What do you think about it? Could you give them my ideas?
@Quickslvr_Gaming6 ай бұрын
You might have to elaborate on some. They already did the building slot change. I don't know if they will tie it in with population growth like total war does, mainly because the timeline of the game is much smaller. The economic side of it could definitely use some work though and I think I understand what you mean in that regard.
