I have this inflator as well. With the AC corded adapter DeWalt N557514 power supply. Works amazing. However with any computer pressure regulated system. My concern is if the module ever fails there are no replacement parts listings for these units. This system should have some kind heat protection setup. Or they should have built it like a regular compressor but compact and same size. I also agree that they should have made the dial a bit more robust rather than all the sloppy play in it. Other than that it works amazing. Only time will tell how long these units will last through constant use.

Some Safety Tips Ensure your air compressor is only used with outlets that have the proper grounding. If you plug an air compressor into an incorrectly grounded outlet, it could damage the machine’s electrical circuitry and even cause a fire. When using either type of portable compressor it is a good idea to keep the vehicle running. This will keep the battery from discharging and provide a more consistent 13.5 volts DC to the compressor’s motor. 10A current draw for 10minutes - what does that do to your cars wiring?

I bought one of these and was disappointed in the performance. For bike, motorcycle, ATV and wheelbarrow tires, this unit does the job. But on car and light truck tires, you'd better have lots of time on your hands. It took 8 minutes to bring a 16" F250 standard size tire from 40 to 55 psi. The 3 amp-hour battery barely had enough juice to top off all four tires (ran out shortly after). Today I bought the Bostich portable 1 gallon 2.8 SCFM@90psi compressor (120VAC) for about the same money and it's probably at least 5 times faster than the Dewalt. The Dewalt, just like any battery powered device (air pumps, leaf blowers, weed wackers, extrication tools, etc), they are limited in power because of the limitations of lithium batteries having lower voltage and current ratings than 120VAC equipment. Last year I bought a $30 12 volt mini compressor that plugs into a car cigarette lighter and it's about the same speed as the Dewalt. Needless to say I'll be returning the Dewalt inflator -- I just can't justify the cost for the convenience of having a cordless unit that is more or less a novelty that takes forever to inflate full sized auto, truck or trailer tires. If you're only using it for garden tractors, bicycles, motorcycles and the like, it may be worth the price for some.
@WorkshopAddict5 жыл бұрын
So.... While this unit is not a speed demon, there are a few things wrong here. A standard F250 tire holds 70-80 PSI of air. Only oversized tires would hold 55... Next, there is no one gallon compressor that will fill a car tire faster than this inflator. Once you drain the one gallon tank down to the psi of the tire, you will sit there for an eternity as the compressor runs and very little happens.
@sideskraft5 жыл бұрын
@@WorkshopAddict The standard F250 tire has a maximum pressure of 80 psi, but that's only required when hauling the maximum weight load -- only a fool would drive around his unloaded F250 with rock hard tires inflated to 80 psi. Next, if you think a 20V lithium battery powered tire inflator provides more air flow than ANY SIZE 2.8 SCFM @ 90 psi 120VAC powered compressor, then I encourage you to spend some time learning about simple physics and Ohm's Law. Better yet, do a comparison test yourself.
@WorkshopAddict5 жыл бұрын
@@sideskraft Lol. Only a fool would drive around a load range E tire at 40 psi. Mins on that tire is 60. I did compare this inflator to a one gallon compressor. I know exactly what happens. No math needed.
@sideskraft5 жыл бұрын
@@WorkshopAddict I agree -- it's a vehicle that's only driven maybe 4 times per year and remains garaged otherwise, hence the pump up to 60 psi (that also helps to eliminate flat spots). I just found a website that rates the 20V Dewalt inflator's "high pressure" airflow at 0.5 SCFM. You're saying that this will inflate a tire faster than a 120V compressor rated at 2.8 SCFM at 90 psi? As the saying goes "you can lead a horse to water" -- anyway, good luck!

what if your driving in the rain and have to pull over because of a flat tire. i hooked this up to inflate the tire and sit in my car out of the rain and wait till its filled. will the rain ruin the compressor?
@WorkshopAddict3 жыл бұрын
Chances are, you will not have a completely flat tire in that situation. If you did, an inflator will not help you anyway due to the size of hole. If you use it over the duty cycle once, it probably wont hurt it. If you do it over and over, it will shorten the life of the inflator.

Disappointing that the AC ability is optional. l have to buy more stuff in order for it to be a true three-way inflation tool. Also, how do you charge the battery?

HELP NEEDED PLEASE!! I purchased this unit a few days ago to inflate my flat tire and it works great! I understand that it has three different ways to power the unit. 1.) with the included 12v DC cord 2.) with flexvolt battery sold separately. 3.) with 120v AC cord sold separately. I am having trouble with number 3 I can't seem to find the correct cord/part I need to power it using the 120v AC cord. any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
