I bought one and took it to OBX to re-inflate my tires after driving on the beach. It took 5 minutes to inflate from 17 psi to 37 psi. So 20 minutes and I was back on the road. I am very pleased!

I have used this Dewalt tire inflators many times due to the wife loved to drive the car over the nail all the time. I did use this Dewalt tire inflator to pump up the tire before I can drive to Costco tire to repair.

what advantages does this bring you that a 12 volt inflator does not? you have to remember to periodically keep the battery charged and it comes at a hefty price point for something that is well covered in the marketplace by other appliances that are a lot cheaper. I am sorry, I just don't see the point in a 24 volt tire charger

Thanks for doing the review. I have one of these and it is accurate and turns off when it gets to the right pressure.👍 I bungee strapped an N557514 AC adapter to it, for use at home. 👍 On the road I have found it may not work with the 12v outlet. 👎 You have to run the engine or it draws too much current - starts and shuts off immediately. On a mazda cx-5, I could not get it to run even with the engine running 👎👎 That means I would need to invest in a dewalt battery & charger as my B&D battery won't fit. $$$$$ Sometimes a dual cylinder foot pump (with a good frame) can get you out of a hole. 😄

I just bought one from EBAY what battery and charger do you recommend for it?
@DirtFarmerJay Жыл бұрын
Glad you got one! If you can afford it, I'd still with the genuine DeWalt batteries, 20V, at least 4 amp hours. If you can, get two, so you have one on the charger and one on the unit. As for the charger, their basic models work fine. Lower priced chargers charge the battery slower, but do fine overnight or having one on the base. I hope this helps! Best, DFJ

I bought one and am very pleased with it but the reading on mine is in bar. How can I change it to psi?
@DirtFarmerJay4 жыл бұрын
DJ Acid - sorry for the delayed response! Making the change from one unit of measurement to another is built in, but not very intuitive. To make the change from Bar to PSI, push the two right-hand black buttons down simultaneously while rotating the black dial selector (the one used for setting the desired tire pressure). You'll see the display toggle to each available measurement. Thanks for watching our video and taking time to write! Best Regards, DFJ

I'm gonna buy one of these and then watch as everyone I know talks about how 'that's way, way, way, too much money for a portable compressor.' Of course it looks like it works much better than a cheap portable unit to me and I think it'd be a worth the current $99 price.

@DirtFarmerJay3 жыл бұрын
This unit can be powered by using Dewalt's optional AC Power adapter. This converts 110V AC to 12 V DC. This should be part number DCC0201B. You should expect to spend about $25. Best, DFJ

Game Ops, thanks for writing. I'm not familiar with the Craftsman model, so I can't advise you on that. John, it looks well made overall. Although, I did have the little nubs that hold the blower hose onto the output side chip off. It still works, but think they should have beefed that up. Other than that, the case, controls and accessories all look good. The maximum it will inflate up to is 160 psi. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching our video! Best , DFJ

I don't really understand how so many electric powertool makers are not including battery or charger. I saw an electric chain-saw in the h/ware store being sold with no battery. If you cannot use it without a battery, what's the point of selling it like that? I'd rather the manufacturer of these products just included everything in one package and charged whatever extra price a battery/charger etc would cost, instead of farting around with separate purchases.
@DirtFarmerJay4 жыл бұрын
John, thanks for watching and taking the time to write! I've seen both approaches from cordless tool companies. In my case, I have several chargers already, as well as a strong supply of batteries (although you almost can't have too many!), so I will look for "bare tool" offers - the ones that do only offer the tool with no other accessories. I have my eye on a DeWalt Cordless chucked drill. Because tool companies want you to get "addicted" to their toolset, they will run irresistible deals to get you to get a full complement of batteries and chargers for their system. Such is the case for that drill I want. The drill alone is $149. The drill with two batteries, charger, canvas bag AND the drill is $99. I know what they are up to, but I'm already committed to this series of tools, so I'll play their game. The best to you and yours - DFJ
@woodstream61374 жыл бұрын
Is about saving money. If most projects only require a couple cordless power tools, it doesn't make sense having batteries and chargers for every single tool; Especially when adding a battery and or charger typically raises the price $50-100 for each tool.

This is way too much money for an inflator! I paid $30 for an inflator that plugs into the cigarette lighter and just as effective. Inflates my tire in 10-15 minutes. Plus it needs no battery and is small enough and compact to keep in my car.

Ed, I use this to keep full sized vehicle tires maintained rather than filling them from being empty. For this purpose, it works really well. I'd say the average "top off" is about a minute. Thanks for writing! Best, DFJ

Don't buy DeWalt. When working for a large manufacturer about 15 years ago, a former DeWalt / Black & Decker VP told us that DeWalt tools were actually Black & Decker mechanisms with flashy DeWalt molding and then marketed for a higher price. Similar to changing the destination retailer's label during the same production run with different prices, e.g. Lowes and Dollar General.
@DirtFarmerJay4 жыл бұрын
David, sorry for the delayed response. I suspect that a lot more of this practice goes on across many brands than any of us are comfortable with. There are many brands within brands in tooling, manufacturing and even food brands. Thanks for writing and sharing your thoughts. Best Regards, DFJ

It’s not just Dewalt that does this. Ryobi and Milwaukee are the same family
@insertnamehere51464 жыл бұрын
Pointless and expensive. anything around the home can be run off a mains powered pump that is a fraction of the price of this "bare" unit. Anything for the car can be run off 12 volts. The only scenario i could see this being useful is if you had a flat battery and tire. in which case this unit would only solve the tire issue.
@DirtFarmerJay4 жыл бұрын
insert name here - thanks for watching and taking time to express your opinion. Indeed, this machine also comes with the capability to run from 12V outlets in the vehicle. Even so, I've found this inflator to be incredibly handy in helping another motorist, or quickly inflating tires, balls, and small volume tires for garden carts and trailers. It's been a good investment for us. Best Regards, DFJ
