Since I saw your review I purchased the square quarter sheet sander, but I got the corded version. I am very happy with it. So much quieter than my old one and the dust pickup is great.

If you are on a budget and will not be getting other Dewalt battery tools, I say buy both in electric, if you will have outlets close by. The difference to me is that the orbital does a large piece faster. The sheet (square) gets in corners and better for smaller jobs. Home Depot has this one with a free battery and charger for $139 plus tax, for all. Feb 12, 2022 You can get a mouse sander for corners also.
@MarkThomasBuilder2 жыл бұрын
Good point there. I seem to use the orbital sander 80 percent of the time and this one 20 percent. I've precut my square pieces of sandpaper ahead of time, making my workflow go smooth.

You should make & sell those sandpaper cutters. Great idea. The review is good too. I was wondering about the clamp. That one looks pretty good. The paper clamp is the weak point of most pad sanders IMHO. Thanks.

This clamp seems to be a great design. It's holding up well. Thanks, for your support on the sandpaper cutter👍

You should definitely look into getting a patent for the cutter.
@LeyLey41 Жыл бұрын
Of course, after a while, the plastic starts to get worn down on both sides I've noticed. However, there are screws on both sides of the springs where the push button is to open the clamp. That in itself does keep the clamp a little tighter if it should start weakening.

I'll go with the quarter sheet palm sander. I have a Bosch circular random orbital sander and the hook and loop system on the sanding pad wears out so fast and the sanding pad costs about 20% of the sander.
@promo1303 жыл бұрын
bosch is junk, the pads on the dewalt holds way longer no more bosch for me all dewalt and milwaukee much better
@adamthewoodworker25713 жыл бұрын
Hey, how many times can you reuse the sandpaper before you need to replace it?
@MarkThomasBuilder3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I can't say a specific amount of time because it depends on many variables. I mostly watch for the sandpaper to stop working. I then will stop sanding for a minute and run my finger across the sandpaper and compare it to a new one. If the grit is gone, I'll replace the sandpaper.
@michealsmith48594 жыл бұрын
@markthomasbuilder did you make a post detailing how you made that sandpaper “cutter” ?

No, I need to do that still. Thanks for the reminder.
@andre1987eph2 жыл бұрын
A guy who makes wooden signs here on KZbin says that this type of sanders are good for finishing delicate raised letters, because the tool oscillates and doesn’t damage the letters like a random orbital sander which spins.
@MarkThomasBuilder2 жыл бұрын
That's a good point, thanks for sharing.

what do you mean? one is a finishing sander and one is a random orbiting sander. they do different things so you need both.

This sander isn't as aggressive as the orbital sander and better for the finishing rounds. I use the orbital sander the most and this one on occasion. It also works well if you have to sand an inside corner, like a kitchen cabinet door.
