Dewalt battery in Bostitch nailer!

Simple mod anyone can do. I wanted a cordless straight nail finish gun but Dewalt doesnt make it. Fortunately Bostitch and Dewalt cordless guns are very close to the same and this simple mod makes dewalt batteries work.

I run dewalt and I can confirm this. Did it and it works perfectly. Saved myself over $100 on the finish nailer with a coupon. And as far as the bostitch batteries, there's a nub you can sand down and can now run your dewalt tools. Chargers as well. Just sand the nub

In case anyone is interested, a Bostich 20v battery can be modded with a dremel (very little has to be done) to fit a DeWalt 20v application. The DeWalt chargers as well. Same company owns both, why reinvent the wheel, just change it a little.

Very cool ! I have an old bostitch pneumatic that uses 28 degree wire weld collated nails and see that bostitch offers a 28 degree cordless but dewalt does not. I refuse to buy another battery and charger system especially since both companies are the same corporate ownership.

yeah thats awesome. i watched a few vids on different batteries from other platforms working on each others tools if you modify it slightly. i personally tried it with porter cable 20v battery in a black and decker charger for a friend because his porter cable charger wouldnt work. cool man

I was wondering the same thing, Stanley makes Bostitch and now owns DeWalt which now makes Craftsman and ALL of them look very similar. I don't have a battery nailer yet but I plan to stick with the DeWalt batteries simply for convienece, but if they become interchangeable I'll be stoked. Perfect. Just found a deal at Lowe's for the 18ga, carrying bag, charger, 2.0ah battery AND a free 4.0ah battery for the same price that the DeWalt (tool only) cost at Home Depot

Dan Sal l still haven’t seen it at a local home center here. I’ve seen them on Amazon. This Bostich lasted only a month and stopped firing them ended up giving me another one. If it breaks again I’ll try the Dewalt version of it. I’ve went through 3 of the angled nailers by Dewalt and at type 11 now l think they have a good gun. Getting these units as soon as they come out has not worked out for me at all. It seems like it takes them a year or 2 to get all the bugs worked out

@@toolman101476 I had no idea they were on type 11. I guess they left a lot of room for improvement with the original design. I use pnuematics, but have been loosing sleep over not having a cordless for those small jobs. My entire crew uses straight 16ga so the angled version was a no go. I might bite the bullet and hope it breaks before the warranty is up.

Yea so every upgrade or ever adjustment they make on the guns result in a type 2,3,4 and up. I trim houses and I need a gun that will shoot a lot of nails and not break down. Mainly I use the cordless to set doors and for punch lists it’s great. I still use pneumatics. They still seem to be more durable and faster for production type work

Hey so I'm currently in the exact opposite situation I have a 20v Bostitch battery and charger, and a 20v max DeWalt 16 gauge finish nailer can I do the same thing

No, there's a part that would have to be removed on the battery. I'm probably going to try to remove it to see if it's possible

Can I use the dewalt charger to charge the BOSTITCH battery??

M Samir l tried but it never worked. The Bostitch batteries would cause the charger to block like it was a bad pack
