The 'B' as in 805B just stands for 'bare tool'- i.e. one sold without a battery or anything. No difference between that and just the same number without a B at the end. Same exact tool. I recently bought a 7 tool combo, and it included the 805- I love it! It's a beast in a small package! So glad I paid a little more and went with DeWAlt instead of DIY/mid-grade...absolutely no regrets. Helps me get jobs done SO much faster, and all the power I need; and the batteries last a long time between charges. Well worth the extra money.

Is it the 7 combo kit from Lowe’s? How much did you pay if you don’t mind me asking? Reason I am wondering because I am looking at that kit and I have seen someone get it for $245 on a great clearance deal couple of weeks ago.
@bobbylibertini

@@patricmason9091 I paid $580 for mine, on sale and with a special discount. Best price now is around $649. You're NOT going to get this kit for $245 unless something's seriously wrong with it. When I got mine I had to drive a ways because everyone was out of stock, even online. They go fast 'cause they're a good deal. All the good stuff- no junk/filler- a good 5Ah batt. + a powerstack batt. Grab one if you can before they're gone again, 'cause it's hard to find a good kit like this that includes all the good stuff.

With DeWalt drills, after you tighten as hard as you can to the right, you click it to the left to lock it.
@reuben-rt
@reuben-rt 4 ай бұрын
This isn't true, the click you hear is actually the chuck unlocking the pawls. If this was true then they'd mention it in the manual. Direct quote from manual: 'tighten securely by grasping and rotating the chuck sleeve 7 clockwise with one hand while holding the tool with the other. When the chuck is nearly tightened you will hear a clicking sound. After 8-12 clicks the chuck is securely tightened around the accessory.'

Just an fyi these chucks lock the bit but tightening down then screwing the opposite direction. You’ll call a distinct click or clunk and it won’t come undone.

Thanks for sharing the know&how! What’s your opinion on impact drivers? The DCD805 can be had as set with one impact driver (no price advantage), and I wonder why you’d need both.

@@DiligentDave1966 Thanks Dave. 10 months later I have a rotary hammer, drill, impact, and dedicated driver. ;-) Also, in Germany, most people have just one item. We don't work as much with wood. So it's also a "cultural" thing, imitating friends.

If it twist your wrist, you are holding it wrong. Frame the grip against your forearm so you can feel the torque, but protect yourself against breaking your wrist when hitting a knot. Especially when working overhead.

First time deck rebuilder here (I am not redoing my framing, but redoing decking, railing and short run of stairs). I had heard that having too powerful a drill is bad because I will drive screws in beyond flush. For a person with no practice, do you think I should be fine on speed 1 and not rushing? I am using Azek decking. But I also need to attach railing posts and stairs. Thanks for this review!

For the most part, a powerful drill will have a clutch and you can use the clutch to keep the drill from over driving the screws and bolts. Choose a low clutch setting to allow you to set the screws close to the desired height.

I would go for a impact driver, that’s what they are made for, always get the right tool for the job and you won’t go wrong, drills where never made to be drivers, but they can double as one.

Looks like you are not a big fan of bitholders.😁 The drill was actually a SDS plus drill bit. I never put one of these into my DCD, since you could damage the drill for the usage in a hammer drill like the DCH172.

Is there any reason why you wouldn't use the hammer mode when driving in the fastener? Doesn't it work as an impact driver in that mode?
@aicisha
@aicisha Жыл бұрын
No, it's not similar, the combi drill has rotational impact type and the impact driver has straight impact type.
@WhiteVaille
@WhiteVaille 11 ай бұрын
The hammer mode is more like tapping the back of the drill with a hammer, which helps chisel apart stone-like materials. An impact driver or impact gun instead applies that hammering motion to progressively twist the fastener, more like hitting or kicking a tire iron to break a lugnut loose. So basically the only time you ever want to use hammer mode is for concrete, tile, or brick. Otherwise it's best to use the drill mode (with or without the clutch).

Love your videos. I think they are great but to properly lock the chuck you tighten my hand like you demonstrated, then you have to move the chuck back one click. This fully locks in your bits. Hope this makes sense, all love, keep going man.

Is dcd800 able to drill on wall, brick, or even concrete??
@senolkaratas3170
@senolkaratas3170 Ай бұрын
You can drill bricks and soft materials, but it has difficulty in drilling columns and concrete. 805 also has impact, but such products should not be used for drilling columns. You must have a rotary hammer to drill columns. Even though 805 has an impact hammer feature, it is not effective and screams a lot. work of column drilling pneumatic breakers

The 800 will cut out and get hot if you push it a little. At least mine did, and that’s why I returned it. The power is a little overrated, and the body is a little too small to dissipate heat properly.
@haydenjohnson1520
@haydenjohnson1520 4 ай бұрын
I got the hammer drill one (not that that means anything) and I drill through studs and top plates with it all the time. After 20-30 mins of drilling with an auger bit and then I let it rest when it’s hot. But I do cover up the airflow with my hand for more leverage which heats it up really fast
@DiligentDave1966
@DiligentDave1966 4 ай бұрын
@@haydenjohnson1520 It's possible that I got a bad unit. Personally, I would get the 996 if I was looking for something in that power range. It's not as powerful as the 998, but it's also smaller and lighter. The body is bigger than the 805, so it dissipates heat better. I know a lot of people like the 800 and 805, though, so I won't talk trash about them. It's too bad that I had a bad experience with the 800 because Home Depot had the 805 on clearance for about $80, as a bare tool, a while ago.
