What an informative video! I have the Dewalt 745 and love it. Its weight makes it very easy for me to move it, so on sunny days I can take it outside my shop and enjoy the weather. The main reason I bought a Job Site saw instead of a cabinet saw was for its smaller size. I miss the high RPM and HP of a cabinet saw and perhaps if I build an extension onto the shop That will be possible. I am embarrassed to admit that I just assumed that the Dewalt 745 had an arbor long enough for my Dado set. The review I read didn't touch on a Dado ability, and that sort of reinforced my assumption. That, of course, was my fault and should have included that on the list of features I was looking for. To make up for its lack of stability to handle a sheet of plywood on its own I have decided to build a work table around it. Thanks for great content!

CrossGrain Wood Products,LTD The Dewalt 745 is a great piece of machinery. It is too bad it will not accept a Dado stack. I think it is something that would be easy for them to correct. Thanks for stopping by and sharing what you're doing with your Dewalt, cheers.

I currently own both the Dewalt and Bosch saws and both versions of the Bosch. I leave the larger Bosch at home. Too damn heavy and bulky to move around efficiently. I just bought the Dewalt cordless last week for jobsite with no power. In the past I have owned two Hitachi saws. Now the things i have found are, the RIP fence system on the dewalt is nicer. It also pulls less power on a circuit as the Bosch is instant on at 5000 rpms and if you have crappy wiring or weak circuit breakers it will test them repeatedly. The Bosh is way more durable and takes a beating. A benefit of the no plastic body system. That is why I no longer own the Hitachi saws. When it's cold outside the plastic becomes very brittle and cracks. Hate having broken hoopty tools. I use the Bosch more than anything because of the ability to haul it in the bed of my truck with a pile of other tools. It also houses all the accessories out of harm's way.

Fine machine, excellent for those who need a table saw that can be moved from one place to another. That is not my case, I have an old Craftsman table saw model 113, strong, very very quiet, does not shake, cuts 2 x 4 's like butter (even if the blade is not so sharp), does not bog down even with hard wood, and it only cost me $ 150. I would never change my Craftsman table saw for any of those new table saws, unless, I needed to move it around. (Mine has wheels and I can move it around the shop if needed.)

Great Comparison! I almost bought a Hitachi C10RJ but beware, its been revamped and was $599. and now is $299.-379. Its now a CR10RJs! It now has plastic bevel gears and seems to have been cheapened up in many other ways! The table was shattered on 1 mans saw when he opened it! Another said his table had terrible grey paint that kept coming off and jamming up his mitre gauge slot and wooden mitre gauge fence cradle he made. Another said his saw table wasn't even flat! I read plenty of reviews from guys who returned their mad at the quality. I am now ordering the Bosch GTS 1031 shown here. I need a small portable saw, (something my heavy cast iron cabinet saw is not), However I don't want a total POS garbage saw. I used a Bosch 4100 with the rising stand but its a bit heavy for me and hard to move out of a truck and setup by myself, but does have good wheels and worked great!. I think this smaller Bosch GTS1031 and a good table or stand will be much better for me. Thanks for the great comparison!

I wonder why the Dewalt can only cut 3 1/8" at 90 and 2 1/8" at 45 deg. The Bosch does 3.5" at 90 and 2 1/4 at 45. That alone sold me on the Bosch. The T slotted mitre gauge is slightly better than the Dewalt too. The Dewalt has a larger capacity extension/fence that has a rotary knob/rack to adjust it if that matters to you. They are so small and light I think just sliding the Bosch extension/fence out by hand is pretty easy tho. The table insert has a nicer adjustment also on the Dewalt but how often do you do that ? The dust collection must work much better on the Bosch having the side skirts that seal the dust collection unit to the bottom of the table. There is nothing but a huge airgap on the Dewalt. (Not good for creating a vacuum). Its nice its dust collector is made of metal I suppose, but its not necessary plastic works fine here and the Bosch is much more accessible with 1 screw at the back vs 4 wing nuts on each corner of the Dewalt. About the only thing the Bosch gives up besides the table insert adjusters, is a smaller rip width but I can fix that, if its gets to be an issue.

I've had the Bosch table saw for a few years now. I can honestly say it it the one tool on my truck that I wish someone would steal or it would fall off of my truck so I would have a reason to buy a real table saw. This saw has one of the loudest, whiniest motors I've ever had on a saw. Additionally the arbor seems to have a bit of play in it. The table insert is an absolute joke. Ryobi table saws have much better table inserts. If you're trying to do narrower rips this table insert will actually start to fold down. The miter gauge is an absolute joke and the first thing to break on this saw was the push stick. It is heavy and about as easy to carry through a house as a full bucket of joint compound. I really don't think you could buy a much worse table saw. i have a Bosch 10" miter saw that is probably 8 years old. The motor is smooth as glass. These two saws were not made by the same Bosch company

I just bought a Bosch 4100-09.. really nice saw, EXCEPT, it spits out sawdust the the front plate and every other place possible.. putting dust all over the operator. what a bummer.. my previous saws were a set of Ryobi precision cutting machines.. they had a more complete sawdust shroud and a better draw when connected to a vacuum system. no dust on operator. I am needing a second saw as I am retiring both the Ryobi's. I have a shop built thien separators on all my dust producing tools.. much cheaper than a tubed vacuum system and more easily readapted as i need to . the dewalt on your video spits dust as well, being the shroud is rather incompletely built on.. I have spent hours researching table top saws that have the best vacuum dust retrieval dust shrouds.. this Bosch GTS1031 number one the other is the Hitachi C10RJ. this Bosch GTS1031 it was my first choice but one was not available when I needed it. at first haste made waste but after your video I am convinced thru further research it my best choice,, thank you very much for your great video. j.

I am also curious about the warranty coverage and dewalt(stanley) customer service can you share any info on that??? ....I tend to go through saws, but I've never actually dealt with dewalt before and it is a big concern of mine. also curious on you thought on the worm drive saws...seem powerful to me(worm gear/screw mechanics)...have you ever used one?

justin barrett Fortunately I have never had to exercise the warranty on any of my power tools and that's probably because I don't use them as much most professionals. I looked at both saws and the lack of being able to use a dado stack on the DeWalt almost had me thinking Bosch. However I rarely use dado's but move the rip fence 50 times a day and the rack and pinion design and never having to measure the distance from the blade proved far more important. The 20 lb lighter weight was an additional benefit. I use the saw a lot and absolutely love it. I hate (hate) having to measure the rip fence distance from the blade (both front and back to insure it's parallel to the blade) and the Dewalt design completely eliminates the need to do this. Dust collection is excellent as well.

Good stuff, thanks ! Having only a crappy cheap Einhell with an all but unusable fence, I would think the rack and pinion of the DeWalt is a major plus, helping immensely to keep the fence firm and parallel to the saw, as well as making it so much easier to adjust. Is that your perception too, or is the more common one-sided construction of the Bosch just as good in practice ? Only DeWalt seems to have the rack and pinion and it's mostly my reason for lusting after this machine.

Bosch is rapidy getting to be a bit of joke in UK markets....... certainly not what it was. DeWalt WAS a highly respected manu of high quality trade quality tools but really really this idea is being lost pretty quickly if you talk to people (tradesmen) A lot of stuff coming over from China. Some very very good stuff. Some also dangerously bad.

Like everybody, i have tried to read reviews and watch reviews. I bought the Bosch but... the Eu version: GTS 10 J (same as the 1031 with a few changes, like slower RPM and soft start) . It was $200 cheaper than the DeWalt. It was not the money difference that made me buy the Bosch. It was the 6 years warranty! and the soft start and the very nice fence which locks so securely. I had almost bought the Makita MLT 100n .... I'm wondering if it's one of the Chinese dangerous saws you mention. The reviews on it are terrible, especially the single ended fence which seems to come loose during cuts! Metabo and Bosch are both well respected in Australia and the companies stand by their tools savagely. DeWalt is a very big player here also.

The blade guard is so different on the Bosch in the UK then the one you have there. Nice video👍🏻

Thanks for the Video clip! Forgive me for butting in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you tried - Schallingora Dexterous Programme Scheme (just google it)? It is a smashing one off product for building any shed in no time with no experience minus the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my mate finally got cool success with it.

Of these two saws I prefer the DeWalt because of the weight. However, my personal saw is a RIDGID R45171. Thanks for stopping by and posting your question. Cheers.

Thanks for the review. I'm trying to choose a table saw and this helps. I've narrowed it down to these two, the Rigid R4516, and the Kobalt KT1015.
@WorkMateGuy
@WorkMateGuy 6 жыл бұрын
huntsville90- You are most certainly welcome. Both of these table saws are an excellent choice, however over the the R4516 is being discontinued and replaced by the R45171. Which has soft start. You may want to go with the R45171 because it has a lifetime service agreement. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Great review @WorkMateGuy - I was almost sold on the Bosch because of its Dado capability (always wanted this) but seeing that it has too much plastic components on the moving mechanisms, I think I will pass. I currently own a Dewalt 7480 (predecessor of the 745) and the lift mechanism no longer works and I don't know if it can be repaired. The main reason I like the Dewalt is because of its rack and pinion fence control. Most compact table saws don't have this and to me it's very important when you are trying to make very precise adjustments. Anyway, before I purchase another Dewalt table saw, has anyone had issues with the lift mechanism on table saws? :-/ (yes, I have cleaned / lubed the gears and stuff many times)

@WorkMateGuy 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I have seen other folks post commented about the lift mech on a variety of saws. I think you are right, it comes down to the quality of the parts. Cheers!

bighands69 Either one of these saws will provide you with more than enough accuracy for a beginners workshop. Always remember, the Craftsman is more important then the tool. Thanks for stopping by and posting.
