The big annoyance with the old models (which kept me from buying one even though I have bought into the flexvolt battery system) was the oil tank leaking. And yes you heard that right. The actual tank was made with such low standards of fit that it leaks along the plastic mold lines. The recommended solution for this from Dewalt is to drain the saw of bar oil whenever you leave it sitting for a few days. Obviously that's a pain since the tank is not meant to be drained.

Just picked up the new 54v saw yesty. Will give it a crack on the weekend. My neighbour has the old model 54v saw and is pretty happy with it. I will use mine camping and around the home and sometimes at work. Also i am a landscaper hahaha. I got the 15a batteries so will be keen to see how much runtime i get from the 15ah. I would not use the smaller 6ah batteries as my neighbour was using my 12ah and they even got fairly warm and i reckon you would stressing the 6ah pretty bad.

Is this the same saw as the DeWalt 60V Max 20-Inch Chainsaw DCCS677? Is the DCMCS575N just the Australian model number for the DCCS677?

Is the torque still there on the 575 if using the 6 or the 9? I was wondering if the 15 ‘unlocks’ more torque or if it’s a beast with all batteries. Great vid. Cheers!

It shouldn't matter. The Ah rating is a number for how big the charge is not how much power you can draw in a few minutes. That said the voltage might drop off sooner with the 6 Ah battery compared to the 9 Ah, 12 Ah and 15 Ah.

I really wish Dewalt would make a kit with a 12 ah battery for the 18 inch.

I just purchased the DeWalt 20 inch chainsaw but where can you purchase more chainsaw chains? Can seem to find them sold anywhere or details on other brands that would work.
@NedPowell2 жыл бұрын
It’s a good question, specifications on this chain are difficult to find, as are the DeWalt replacements which don’t seem to be listed at the major tool shops. However, once you know the chain specifications, you can purchase a replacement chain from wherever you like with the same specifications. The chain that comes with the DCMCS575 is a 3/8”LP pitch, 0.050”/1.3mm gauge chain with 68 drive links (this is listed on the guide bar, though you have to remove the guide bar from the power head to read it properly). Just ask for those specifications at any saw chain retailer.

Do the 18" & 20" both use LP chain?
@NedPowell2 жыл бұрын
@@MineStrongth I can confirm the 20” does, but I don’t have the 18” so can’t confirm that, but would assume so.

Thanks for the video, it’s good to see the saws in action. I’m interested in getting one but was wondering, do you know why the DCMCS575N-XE isn’t being offered in a kit while the DCMCS574N-XE is? Will it be offered as a kit in the future? I’m also wondering why you haven’t tried/recommended running them with the 12 Ah batteries as well as the 6, 9 and 15 Ah batteries, as the 12 Ah seem to offer the best bang for your buck in terms of $/Ah.
