Love the Makita 36v rear handle. Dewalt and Milwaukee may have a slight edge in power but the Makita cuts smooth as butter and plenty powerful enough 👍

The dewalt flexvolt saws do have a two part plastic dust extraction chute that screws together over/around the rim of the saw where. You noticed the hole. For some reason they don't come with the saws in the US and Canada but here in the uk they come in the tstak box that the saw comes in even when buying the saws as body only they still come in the deep tstak with all of the accessories such as the dust extraction port, saw guide and they come with a dewalt blade. I understand why certain models of tools are only available in certain countries but I can't get my head around why they would stiff you on the ancillary parts tbh! Thanks for the video doc that was a decent review so I will subscribe.

Iam on the DeWalt 20v platform, but I couldn't pass up that Makita Deal it was an incredible deal. For anyone that doesn't know, H.D. was/is sell that Makita 18v/36v lxt x2 XSR01 71/4 Circular Saw Kit , comes with saw , dual fast charger, and two 5.0ah batteries and lg bag for $245 and you get 2 more 5.0ah batteries for Free , it's a Great Deal. I even went on EBay and bought a New Makita 18v XDT14 3 speed impact driver tool only for $72 just to throw in the bag ....👍🛠🖖

had both. returned the dewalt as it was just too bulky and heavy. the makita is much more ergonomic and smooth to use. power wise dewalt is 10/10, makita is 9/10. i replaced the dewalt with its blade right brother which is nearly half the weight but with similar power.

Those holes on the Dewalt are for a vacuum attachment, sold separately, I bought it but I haven't had to use it, I just taped the hole, then I ended up removing it, I put piece oh duct tape to redirect the saw dust on the Dewalt

I’ve had the XSR01 for a little over a month now and its satisfied more than any other circ saw purchase (we’ll see in a couple years). BUT - Makita is rolling out a 40v line in the very near future called XGT that will not be compatible with the 18v LXT line. They do not have a rear handle in the XGT launch currently, but it is worth considering that a new non-compatible battery line is on the way.

I saw one adapter on a Japanese site that lets you fit 40 volt batteries on the 18X2 tools.

Yeah unfortunately the XGT saw has the blade on the right hand side, so it's pretty much unusable. I bought a saw with the blade on the right hand side by mistake once and lemme tell you, that's not ever ever happening again. I'd rather have a cord.

I used to be a big DEWALT fan and it was about the only brand I would buy. In 2016, DEWALT started to let me down a lot on the job sites and again in 2019 when I decided to try their cordless tools once more. Wasn’t impressed and kept burning brand new impacts and drills doing decks every day. I started switching to makita after that for my cordless tools. Battery life is a whole lot better, the tools are more durable, and they’re lighter and more comfortable to use over the course of the day. Plus makita is easier on the pocket.

Nice demo looking at the makita to change things up currently have the first gen dewalt 7 quarter great strong saw just find 45 mitres cuts not to great and the 165 left hand version great little saw aswell. looked at them today in shop and was surprised that the dewalt rear handle saw has a diamond shaped arbour which limits blade types which was a bit of a turnoff tbh the makita also has way better marking guides on it no crappy guesswork when your busy and need to move fast anyway there's my 2cents 💯

I have the makita, good saw. However no on board blade wrench There is a rubber dust plug for addition dust containment that is pretty nice The slide rail for the depth adjustment seems wobbly- I may be crazy but I feel it should be tighter- checked a few of the same saws to make sure and it seems consistently loose- yet totally tight when locked to desired depth.... Anyhow haven't tried the dewalt but seems nice too

I run the Milwaukee worm drive style with the 12ah battery which I can run all day no problem. It's completely solid. Miter adjustment is kind of basic by comparison.. I like what these two saws have done to address that. Milwaukee shoots dust out the side like the dewalt, but has a plastic attachment to divert dust or hook up to a vac. Dr! I've been a long time user of skilsaw as you have. I bet you're as curious as I am about the cordless Skilsaw, as it's the only true cordless wormdrive available currently. Any chance you'll be testing it? I just hate having multiple platforms. It seems like a beast and with the battery mounted on the rear a lot of reviewers say although it's heavy, it's near perfectly balanced

The DeWalt is much better than the Makita or Milwaukee. I have the DeWalt and several of my coworkers have the other two. I’ve used all three extensively. The biggest difference is power. The DeWalt has WAY more power than the others. Also, it has a higher RPM which really helps when cutting decking for a nicer finish. Edit: I’ve had my DeWalt for 2-3 years now. It’s still going just as strong as ever.

I like the Makita Rear Handle 36V Saw much better than any cordless circular saw. I have the same Makita 36V rear handle saw, otherwise I only have it for Backup framing saw, Full-time Finish Saw and Metal cutting saw, I still trust my old Bosch csw41 corded worm drive saw and my Makita 5377MG Hypoid Saw when it comes to all day Framing and Heavy Carpentry works, while my other corded Makita 5477NB Hypoid Saw converted to beam cutter installed with Prazi Beam cutter is for cutting large and heavy lumbers perhaps beams. At the end of the day I always trust corded circular saw especially The Makita's maintenance free steel Hypoid gear drive saw, and Bosch's Worm drive saw. The Makita 36V rear handle saw that I got only serves as a backup framing saw just in case I run out of carbon brushes to run my corded saws.
