The new DeWalt Powerstack and 15aH Flexvolt battery battle it out on the DCF840 and DCF850 Atomic impact drivers! We also throw the 21700 cell 4aH slim battery pack in the mix to take on the 18650 cells in the Flexvolt and lithium pouch cells in the Powerstack.

Well, for the size it's a beast. Think about it, a 1.7aH battery drove a 1/2" lag without timing out or overheating. Others have found it to be comparable to the 5aH with 18650's. But, $119 is still too much for 1.7aH. New adopter tax!

Just a thought... Whenever I watch these comparison videos there always seems to be the issue of not being able to know when the lag screw is fully seated because of the socket blocking the view. Maybe a big fender washer would help in these tests. You could see the washer seat and then you would know the test is done. 🤔
@PhillyFixed
@PhillyFixed 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm, that's not a bad idea! The only trick would be keeping the socket from bottoming out on the workpiece, otherwise it would be hard to tell if it was the socket pressing down on the washer or the fastener. I'll mess around with it a bit!

@@bossmanz28 i am using a 20” chainsaw and was cutting up a maple tree. The charger that came with the kit is the dcb115. Do they make a better one? Awful small looking charger for such a huge battery. My greenworks 80-volt charger is about twice as big as the dewalt and will charge my 80-volt battery in one hour and give me almost an hour of nonstop push mowing and it is only a 4 amp battery. My 56volt 12 ampEGO charges in one hour also. Unless the chainsaw just uses that much juice. I have no flashlight to test with as my carpentry stuff is all milwaukee M12 and M 18. I bought the dewalt line of outdoor tools as it seemed better than stihl and echo.

@@sacredcowtipper1378 ive heard the 20" chainsaw really eats batteries even the 15ah via workshop addict. Thats how i got mine but i havent pushed the chainsaw like crazy yet. And yes there are a few better chargers. Yellow chargers are the fastest. The more common yellow charger charges the 15ah in think 2 hours but i could be mistaken and then there is an even faster 1 but im not sure how much faster that is. 1 is rated as an 8amp charge output rate while the other is a 12amp charge output rate. The 8amp one charges a 6ah in 1 hour but a 12ah in an 1 hr and 40. Not sure how it works but those are the specs. The outdoor power tools all come with normal chargers cuz compared to construction tools dewalt does give you a better value on the battery purchase so they give you a crappier charger. The main reason i got the 20" chainsaw was jus for the 15ah. Got a discount deal and got it for 475 with the 15ah while the bare tool of the saw and the charger are lile 380 to 400 each Edit theres also a 4 port yellow rapid charger all at the same time that is the 8 amp output. Thats what i have. And its the only yellow charger that will also charge 12v if thay matters to you. All black chargers do 12 and 20v tho

@@bossmanz28 thanks. I am no longer in construction but have a bunch of Milwaukee M18 for that around the farm and my old dewalt nicad and nimh cordless. Yeah, i got the saw kit for that reason too to get the 15Ah battery as to buy the chainsaw and battery separate was around $800. Got it for $470 delivered tax and all through ACME. I bought 6 tools from acme but four boxes looked like they were opened and resealed and they were pretending these were brand new. I think that is illegal to not let the customer know you are getting open box. Anyhow i took pictures and contacted them already. I could have bought those four tools open box for much less on ebay. The chainsaw kit and edger attachment came in sealed boxes untampered. But the 600cfm blower, 15’ pole saw, pole saw attachment and brush cutter were not sealed right so I know they are open box. Most wouldnt complain but I sale surplus laser toners and fusers and if it is open box you get less than half of the retail price and if the boxes are damaged or have writing on them you might only get $100 for a brand new $400 laser cartridge. Very disappointed with Acme. I feel that was deceptive. Lets see if they make it right. Do you have the dcb118 or dcb1112 charger? 4 hour charging time is okay probably for me being i am not using it for business use and i do have the string trimmer kit coming in tomorrow from tool up so will have a 9Ah battery and another junky charger added to my outdoor equipment.

@@PhillyFixed I stopped buying Strap-On. I have s Strap-On tool box, off set wrenches and a 14.4 and 18 volt impact that is grossly weak. I got the 1/2 Atomic impact drivers and wrenches. They kill Strap-On. The Atlantic impact wrench I've used to pull transmissions our of big rigs. I also got my wife one with a 5 Amp battery incase she has a flat. Incase I can't get to her fast. The Atomic impact drivers is great for valve covers. I wouldn't change a tire with the impact driver but I did test it and it did torque to 100 ft lbs easy . I went back and hit the one wheel I tested with my 1/2 Atomic even though the lugs were OK. My truck lugs torque at 100 to 110 ft lbs. I was surprised the Atomic impact drivers took the lugs off like butter.

18650s were expected in the 15ah, because 5ah is 2 rows of 5 such cells, then you need 3 of those in paralell to get to 15ah, and the same 3 groups in series to get 60 volts. No disassembly required, myself and mr Spock will deduce it instantly to an accuracy of 99.9999872%.

First let’s recognize that intro! Inspired editing to match up the ID4 devastation with that dramatic soundtrack. Now, my real question is, why on earth would these two batteries be developed and released at essentially the same time? If you have cracked the code on the smaller, lighter, stronger, faster, and more long lasting, why then develop a battery that goes from a flexvolt brick to a cinder block?
@PhillyFixed

I think the 15aH is targeting outdoor power equipment and probably some forthcoming demo hammers etc. But it's fun to put a brick on a tiny tool! 😅

You're definitely not a highschool math graduate if you don't understand that where the 15Ah battery excels is how many of those 1/2"x10" lag bolts can be driven on a single charge compared to your other examples. 15Ah batteries are marketed for an actual construction worksite advantage of needing less spare batteries, extension cords, generator outlets and chargers for each driver when you're packing the trailer in the morning and staying on task instead of the laborer finding a valid excuse to leave the task to get another battery and cup of coffee and Dunkin donut.

I always voltage makes/dictates the power with amperage just increasing run time?
@PhillyFixed
@PhillyFixed Жыл бұрын
The amp-hours rating is a measure of overall battery capacity and runtime. However, larger capacity batteries tend to have 2 or 3 rows of cells in parallel, and that increases the pack's maximum current output. So indirectly, larger Ah batteries tend to have higher output. In this vid, though, all of the extra 18650 cells still couldn't surpass a single row of 21700 cells in the 4ah pack. Voltage can make a difference, but in practice I've not seen where 24V tools (Flex, Kobalt) have much of an advantage over 18V/20VMax tools just by virtue of the voltage.

The Powerstack is 1.7aH so it won't last as long as a 5aH. Not sure what you mean by 18v -- outside the United States, DeWalt's tools and batteries are labeled "18V" rather than "20V Max" but they are the same. Is that what you mean?
