In this video we compare the Dewalt Powerstack 5.0 vs the Flexvolt 6.0 battery and do a side-by-side drill comparison. Do the few seconds gained per screw or hole justify the cost of the Dewalt Powerstack? If you're drilling thousands of holes a day, this battery might be worth the cost.
We also briefly test the new Bosch GSB18V-1330CN to see where it stacks up against Dewalts Powerstack. Complete Bosch CORE18V vs Dewalt Powerstack drill comparison: • Dewalt DCD999 Powersta...

How long does the charge last vs the Flexvolt?
@TeamDIYNow
@TeamDIYNow 5 ай бұрын
There really isn't any way to measure how long these 2 batteries will last after being fully charged due to many factors. It really depends on the tool, the application, and the temperature. In general, you won't see much difference between a 5ah powerstack and a 6ah flexvolt battery in regard to run time.

@TeamDIYNow

Depending on how fast you want to charge batteries and how much you want to spend you have a few options. Dewalt DCB1106 has 6-amp output (amzn.to/3U4RMri), DCB118 has 8-amp output (amzn.to/3w6wmCe), or Dewalts fastest charger, DCB1112 which has 12-amp output (amzn.to/49OJytl). The only one I probably wouldn't buy (works fine if free in kit tho) is the standard charger DCB115 (amzn.to/44bx7GU) as its rated at 4amps and is about the same price as the 6-amp charger. The one I personally use is the Dewalt DCB1106. Hope this helps.

The 5ah Powerstack definitely was able to complete some of the more demanding test better, however if you notice on the 5/8 auger test the Flexvolt was actually quicker than the Powerstack. I thought that was a fluke because of the wood density, so I tested it a few more times and it was the same result. It really depends on what you're trying to drill if this Powerstack is worth the cost. Also, one of the major considerations is the size as this Flexvolt is a big battery. Thanks for watching and subscribing!

I am curious - it seems, besides the 1ah difference, the 6ah flexvolt uses 18650's compared to the other flexvolt versions 21700's. Would it matter, and if so, how? Is there a single row 4ah flexvolt, and hiw would that one fare against the 5ah superstack in that case ?

Yeah but if you own a Dewalt 60v circular saw (I don't know why any Dewalt user who is looking at performance batteries wouldn't) the Powerstacks are incompatible.

According to Dewalt, they claim these Powerstack batteries will have a 2x lifespan vs the regular XR batteries. With that said they don't make any claims vs the Flexvolt so I can't say for sure as I haven't had either fail.

The power output of an DC electric motor is only the voltage times the amperage the battery can only effect the power output is it is suffering from voltage drop under a load. What I am saying is if all three batteries are outputting 20 Volts open circuit voltage with no load the amperage draw will be determined by the load placed on the motor and that has nothing to do with the battery other than the battery must be able to provide the amperage required without suffering from a voltage drop. In theory there shouldn't be any difference in the performance because of the battery used. The higher amp hour batteries only have the advantage that they will run longer before suffering from a dropping voltage and needing to be recharged. In practice the quality of the cells and the battery management system used inside the battery probably do have some effect on the performance of the tools though this probably varies a lot even among he same tool brands or models.

I don’t disagree, exactly as I said if your putting in thousands of screws a day then a few seconds adds up. The other half of people who don’t I’m just being honest as the cheap XR 5.0 is right there.

@Lee-lb9qh
@Lee-lb9qh 5 ай бұрын
It won't overheat if it's got more power, it overheats when it's over worked bro, it won't get over worked with the extra power, the battery won't burn up anything unless it's providing more than 20 volts, usually the tool is drawing more power than the battery can provide so the battery gets hot and burns up eventually, they are just now making the battery able to keep up with the tool, remember that electric motor technology and power has advanced a lot faster than battery technology
