Just sharing but folks should know that the MDF sacrificial fence is an extra 21$ on top of the 50 for the new aluminum extrusion. First portion of the video sorta came off as it was included for the 50$.

Great video. I been wanting something like this, so I was disappointed when you showed it couldn't be use with a feather board, but I just check my DWE7491RS that I bought in 2020 and the fence does now lock down tight to the table. Good news for me. Thanks!

Thanks for checking yours! I had a suspicion DeWALT might have improved on that first gen design. Thanks for watching!!
@Oops-IMeantToDoThat2 ай бұрын
Feather boards aren't meant to push (hard). They're meant to prevent lift or drift by slight pressure. So, I think you can use a father with this, as long as it's adjusted correctly before cutting.

Rock solid, Mike. Like Balmy's 7491 in an earlier comment, my fence locks down solidly. Furthermore, I can't tell you how happy I am to see this video, because I was just looking at how I could make the fence longer with some sort of extension, while building it to carry hold-down hardware. Well, this TSO jobbie provides exactly what I needed in way of provision for attachment and augmentation. Great work, and in my case timely. Thanks, Mike.

I also had issues with me dewalt table saw fence and got the same tso rip fence. I had too much movement and I it was not square to the table. To fix all of that, I had to shim and screw down the fence to the aluminum rail it attaches to. I also had to shave a little of the plastic off where is slides into the new tso fence to get it square. Some of the other commenters are saying the new fences don't have these issues, but if you have an older saw it is possible to tune it up. I takes some shimming and modifying.

yeah that's cool. Although the sacrificial fence was not designed correctly. The sacrifice part will be at the bottom for dados etc, so it would've been nice if they allowed slots at the top for feather boards at least. You can always add your own I guess.

I have one of the new Dewalt 7491RS that I bought last month a Lowes and the fence does NOT have any lift like yours on cuts about 12 to 16 inches wide. Out beyond that I get a very tiny amount. At max rip width maybe a couple mm is about it. Certainly not enough to make it a concern in regards to accuracy for 99.9% of woodworking cuts I'll be making. So...THANK YOU for finding this awesome product! I've been thinking about how to improve the fence to allow various jigs to be used, and now I know just how I'll do that! :D

Very cool - but do I need it.. Btw a new 10" Skil will be out later this year, with 12" wheels and soft start, two strong features, I need the wheels, not as strong any more. I have 12" wheels on my miter saw, no problem going up and down stairs. (workshop in the basement)

Mike, what could be better for me than a DeWalt fence upgrade? Love the wife's screwdriver. Since you are a real man, you have no problem pulling that pink look off ( I can rock it, too). Should have checked square with the sacrificial fence attached, jut out of curiosity. You've made a nice upgrade there. Impressive how you were manhandling that sheet of 3/4. Those days are over for this old dog.

This fence is killer Meat, I'd be shocked if TSO doesn't release one for every popular saw on the market. Thats actually my Moms screwdriver. She asked for one for mother's day after using my orange one. Snappy just happened to have pink. After mom passed I took it back. Funny thing is the wife wanted one after seeing my moms so we actually have two. I get a kick out of throwing it in videos, occasionally I get a funny comment about it. Thanks for watching!

I've got a couple of DW744 saws. A type 2 and a Type 6. Not sure how they made it better as these are great saws. Someone commented on anther video this fence will fit my saws if you cut them shorter. Not sure if I can afford to get the fence though as the last thing I ordered from the US was 4 times the cost by the time I got it in my hands. I might try one off Temu.
@randolphscudder2372Ай бұрын
I love the saw and somewhat hate the fence system. Even after installing the TSO upgrade, I'm working on squaring the fence to the table. It would be a simple issue if it were leaning away from the blade, but it's leaning toward the blade, at around 20 thousand with a 2-inch square. That will mess a little with accuracy but also put more stress on the top of the blade, especially with harder material.

The title identifies the saw as being great, I had one I recently got rid of. I didn’t find it so good. My old $50 delta is fairly equal, but certainly no more than a typical saw. My Dewalt saw was about the only Dewalt tool I was truly unimpressed with. Many saws in the price range are far better than this saw, In my opinion. But don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad saw, just a typical throw it in the back of the truck, job site grade saw.

I don't think the lift problem you menyion is a major problem. Your roller guides are meant to keep the stock on the table, not to push it down. They're adjusted to the correct height on each cut or stock change So, normally the fence won't get a significant upward force short of a kickback.
@ProjectsForAllReviews2 ай бұрын
I don’t disagree with you. My biggest issue I guess would be it’s near impossible to adjust the rollers to the correct height to hold the stock down without overly putting pressure downward. Do I pull up on the fence when setting the height. Otherwise the rollers really aren’t holding the stock. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

The fence moving up is a design flaw on TSOs part. Testing it should have revealed the flaw and they could have added a simple bracket to clamp down onto the fence track.The way it is now, its only good for adding a sacrificial fence to, which you could have done before by drilling a couple holes in the original fence.
@ProjectsForAllReviews2 ай бұрын
All the comments so far say the newer DeWALTs do not flex like that. Must be a first gen problem? Could explain why TSO didn't allow for a fix. The saw in the vids probably 12 years old which doesn't help I guess. Thanks for watching MAGA!
