I work in HVAC and cut ductwork everyday. I have about 3 different versions from different brands with my favorite being from malco. Has a separate handle for you to hold on to so you can guide it better, get more leverage and most importantly can twist the drill around while keeping the cutters in the same orientation to get into tight places. That dewalt version looks to me like its more for occasional or just straight cuts due it design. Seems great for the small cuts you did but anything more and I would get one with a handle.

I bought this shear attachment to break down old metal roofing. It easily sliced through everything. I will say that it's got a learner's curve for how to manipulate the longer metal pieces and the tool itself, to keep the cut going continuously. For the price and the time saved it was definitely worth it for me. Smart thinking by DeWalt. This will save you a headache and your hands will thank you.

Thanks for the video Vince. I don't have that DeWalt attachment however I do have two different Malco drill attachments when is the Malco ts1 the other is the Malco tscm. The ts1 is Turbo shear first edition this is for your run-of-the-mill sheet metal and the tscm is Turbo Shear corrugated metal. Both are top-notch high quality tools. I have been running both of them for years ,and when I say years yeah I'm talking since I first started air conditioning back in 1999 is when I first got the ts1.. I got the tscm some years later. I highly recommend both malco products. although just the ts1 by itself is highly versatile and can also do the corrugated metal , just not as effectively meaning it is little more difficult than the dedicated tool but for Sheet Metal work it is top-notch. Malco makes a version of the ts1 that is very similar almost identical to that DeWalt that you have. I don't know the model because I don't have it but I've seen it and I have used it and to tell you the truth I don't like it as much as the ts1. I find it somewhat limiting in usefulness and efficiency because of the fact that it does not swivel independently of the drill or impact that is attached to.

Sheet metal is one of those things me as a homeowner only works on every few years when I see something where it might work as a fix or on a roof. Then I go hunt down the hand shears and usually end up slicing my hand somehow in some way and try to remember the last time I had a tetanus shot and then find out my idea didn't work anyway in terms of a sheet metal fix... So, if this ONLY makes it so I don't have to hunt down those old manual shears AND reduces the odds of me cutting my hand/finger every few years, then I'm good to go for 43 bucks. You may feel the same...when you finally bust it open... AND HEY, you get to use a power tool in a new way. Doesn't get much better than that.

I opened every one of my kids Christmas gifts on Christmas morning with one of these. Then I trimmed the (fake) Christmas tree with it. Then I went over the neighbors house and asked them "hey do you guys need anything sheared off over here?". I was like a mad man I just couldn't stop shearing. I ended up in shearing anonymous. 3 months now shear free now.

@vcg construction, I just learned about this tool this week... not because of this video but because I was helping my mom install a metal roof on her cabin... I will say, this saved hours of work... if we didn't find this at the local big box store, we would have had to use tin snips... or maybe a rip saw.... but honestly, I wouldn't want to use a rip saw because they have chickens and ducks and other animals that would have loved to taste the metal. Worked like a charm.

I’ve cut lots of metal with hand shears and snips but if I’d had a tool like this I’d used it in a second. Those snips gave me big strong forearms and hands when I was a young man but now that I’m older I’ve got arthritis in my hands.

I just finished a job with this tool and it cut my cutting time in half of better. I wasn't sold when I seen it initially. But it proved it's worth to go in my toolbox. I used it on my Makita Drill. The Makita as you know, has 2 gears. In 2nd, it was plenty fast enough. Would rip through it with an impact, I didn't try though. I used it to cut roofing metal. It cuts straight as you let it, in the ribs can be tricky but you get used to it. I wouldn't recommend speeding through it. Even though it will.

As someone who does a lot of framing with metal studs I’m very interested. This would work great especially for cutting metal studs off where someone wants a door somewhere in an existing wall. Also would work great when you only have to cut a handful of studs and don’t feel like dragging a heavy ass chop saw in for that few of cuts.

I use a tool I call a nibbler, it's basically a hole punch which presses out lots of little half moons (they are sharp and horrible put a magnetic on the metal near the cut, top tip), it leaves a really good edge and doesn't deform the metal at all and it makes great corners...👍👌👍 Mine is air powered!
