Now I know how to properly use it I'm going to show to my 11 year old, who rides with my 17 year old niece to school, this video as well. They have to cross 3 large lakes on the way to school & even though they can all swim like a fish, as a mom & auntie, it just worries me them not being able to get out in time should an accident happen. Do I have the key chain out before using the window breaker. Why does nobody explain this window breaking part of this thing. Just press the black part against the window?

I have had the same style of window breaker as the guys for several years. I paid £1 for each of them as I bought one each for my sons. Except mine has a whistle at the opposite end to the window breaking part. Perfect if you are somewhere and need to let people know where you are.

It would be helpful to film at an angle where the device is visible instead of a hand completely blocking the view of the device. It would also be helpful to show how to remove the black safety guard from the blade area. After repeated attempts, we are unable to remove it, thus rendering the blade portion useless. Thank you.

I agree. Is there a trigger to pull to activate the spring action? Something to push? I ordered one and would like to know how to use the glass breaking mechanism

To activate all you have to do is push it against the glass. That’s it

I bought one of these and the seatbelt counter is awesome, but to use the window breaker feature. Do you have to set it or does it click into place or did I get a faulty one? I don’t understand how to actually make it work. I don’t wanna be in a situation where the window won’t break because the machine isn’t working correctly, so how do we test it?

You didn't explain how you broke the window. Did you hit the glass with it? Did you touch it to the glass and then press something? How do you use it?

Just posh the device to the glass. There is a spring plunger that activates when you push it to the glass.

"Works as designed"...YES, but the problem is all these glass breakers were developed when cars had TEMPERED glass. In 2017, all automakers were required to employ LAMINATED glass which makes it much tougher for many glass breakers to work, if they work at all.

Lap belt will be opened as soon as you cut the cheast belt. It’s all one piece and cutting it at lap or check it will break you loose either way.

Oh yes I didn’t take it a part to show but yes it does have a sharp pointy tip that basically has a spring in back so when you push on it it releases the pin with a hard strike.

Yes any glass it should work except it may not work on impact windows but I haven’t tested it so can’t say for sure.

when on land and you want to rescue anyone then none of that matters. When someone’s life is in danger you are not going to worry about getting their hand injured with glass. You will be more focused to save their life. Just FYI the automotive glass don’t cut hands. They are designed to shatter into small pieces and don’t hurt or cut human skin

This is designed to be used inside the vehicle for driver or passengers. The glass will break either way you use from inside or outside.

It’s reusable. No test needed. They are tested after manufacturing. Hope you never have to use it
