Thank you for watching this video of the Resqme The Original Emergency Keychain Car Escape Tool. Here is a link to the Resqme from Amazon. amzn.to/2D44zn5 . I have a many of these in my vehicles on attached to my various bags/kits. They provide peace of mind and the Made In The USA construction is great.

Awesome recently I heard a story of a Doctor who died locked inside of a Tesla and that got me really anxious in case of an emergency like that situation I can have the visor clip and equipment handy so I can quickly hop out like you did lol! Was the window of your car really completely closed shut when you added the visor clip and emergency equipment which busted the window with force so you could hop out safely in the end?

may I suggest as a retired fire fighter that you should ; (1) rest your hand on the door and push the tool with your fingers that way you will not push your hand into the glass. (2) turn your face way (3) hand protection - I see that you are wearing gloves which may not be with in reach but you may be able to use another piece of clothing shirt / sleeve - ( ) one last tidbit you may be able to get the floor mat to cover the broken glass on the door before you climb out great job as always

I love the Resqme! I've kept one on my keys for a few years. True story: I found a bird tangled up in fishing lines at the beach, I didn't have a knife on me because I was wearing swim trunks. But I did have my Resqme on my keys! I used it to free the lines around the bird's feet and body. Window break can also be used to break windows in emergency cases if a pet is locked or left in a vehicle on a hot day. Obviously, contact authorities first and try to find the owner unless the pet is showing severe signs of distress and overheating. Resqme saves animal lives too!

This is an great video. I am a professional rescuer and I can tell you from personal experience that this is a great product. I have used it on multiple windows and seat belts. I have one in my personal vehicles and one at my work. It is also surprisingly easy to use with gloves on. Just one thing to mention more and more newer cars use laminated windows in both the windshield and side windows. This product as great as it is will not work on laminated windows. You have to check the corner of the window on your car near the windows serial number and see if it states that it is laminated. I carry a serrated edge knife that will cut though laminated windows. Cutting through laminated windows takes time,but gives you a way to get out. The resQme is much faster as you can see in the video. I hope this helps and keep up the great videos!!

1:06 I'm not sure if I'm convinced that in a major car crash it will remain in place, especially if the visor was in use. I've seen a lot of crash footage, things inside the car go all over the place in a major accident at freeway speeds. I will say I'm a fan of the tool and we have one in each of our cars. I like the idea of the visor clip a lot! It's common in a major accident to be stuck in place (which is why seatbelt cutters are so useful), but if you're stuck in place you may be physically unable to reach far enough to get to this tool. I like the keychain idea a lot. They keys in the engine (or in your pocket for keyless ignition) are going to be within reach (assuming you can get to your pocket after a major crash). Though, I tend to not leave much of anything on my key ring (personal preference) to lighten them.
@TheUrbanPrepper
@TheUrbanPrepper 9 жыл бұрын
+zero11010 It would be interesting to find a way to test the visor clip performance through violent jolting to see what it would take to make it no longer remain in place. I can't think of a good way to simulate that at this time, but I'll continue to think about a solution.
@zero11010
@zero11010 9 жыл бұрын
TheUrbanPrepper Hah. You sure you don't want to rent time at a crash testing facility to show if this plastic visor clip works? Or, you could buy one for everyone you know. Statistically, wouldn't one of them get into a decent sized accident within the next year or two? Perhaps it would be a little tasteless to ask them while they're in the hospital if the visor clip stayed in place. Totally kidding. This isn't the type of thing people are ever really going to know about unless this product ends up everywhere. I keep mine in a small compartment designed for change. If I'm totally stuck to the back of my seat (with the seat belt totally taut and stuck in place) with zero ability to move forward to reach farther than the steering wheel I'll need to use my pocket knife to cut myself free. But, if I'm in an accident that big I don't think I mind waiting for the fire department to show up. I can totally chill for a bit and bleed in peace.

Most new cars don't have keys in the traditional sense. My "key" is just a device that signals to my car that I'm inside and then I push a button to start the car. I never even take the "key" out of my bag.

I would suggest a third unit in the glove box or an enclosed center console compartment. My aunt was killed in a head-on collision years ago and the force of the impact pulled her wedding band off her finger and flung it into the back of her car. I can see a survivable collision potentially having enough force to fling those clipped on resqme tools into the back of the vehicle where they would then be inaccessible. Love your videos, by the way - well organized, very informative, with great ideas!

One important thing to note, every window in your car doesn't necessarily have tempered glass in the side windows - many newer vehicles have laminated windows which these tools will NOT break. Some cars however, have different types of glass at different locations in the vehicle (i.e. one side window will be tempered) so it is important to research your car's windows if you do buy an emergency escape tool. Windshields and the back window are laminated - don't try to break them.

Excellent review. Thank you. I ordered two in red and the accessories package for both driver and passenger just in case. I will also show any who rides with me how to use it in case of an emergency if I don't, what's sense of having it if they don't know how to use it. One last thing i would suggest to add a drop of oil on the blade to prevent any corrosion. Thank you again and stay safe. 🇺🇲 👍🏼

Awesome demonstration. This is one of the first car edc items I bought. It lives on my wife's keys as she drives the car the most. I'll be updating to keep one in each car soon. But I always have my edc knife, and tactical pen with a glass breaker on the end so I'm at lest a little prepared. My neighbour bought a knock off res q me, and it doesn't work as well. If you test them side by side on a piece of wood, the genuine res q me leaves a far deeper dent and is more consistent. (At least the one I tested was)!

I bought a Resqme after my wife was in a car accident. I thought about buying it with the visor clip, but I was concerned about its ability to stay in place after an impact, so I ended up buying the regular one. I later got a second one, so both of us had one. I know what you mean about it being bulky, but I keep my "prepper bulge" hanging on a carabiner, so if it gets annoying, it can just hang from the belt loops.

I like the visor clip. I just keep one hanging from my review mirror. I started carrying it after I had to pull a lady from a Jeep after multiple rolls. It was difficult to get her out of the seat belt. Upside down and lots of blood and I didn't want to risk doing more damage by trying to cut the belt with my regular pocket knife. Besides this tool, I also now carry a rescue type folding pocket knife with a belt cutter and window breaker.

+TheUrbanPrepper For your convenience I looked it up: It's called Buck 299 Survival Strap Cutter. The sheath is made to be attached to a visor, not only cliped on but even going all around with a velcro strap. What I really like about it is that it's made from one solid piece of Steel and you can hold it like a knife handle. There's even a hole where you can put your pinky through while cutting a strap securely without fumbleing around and no, I am not paid to say all that :D I think aftet all it's not important what specific type of rescue tool you use as long as you put it into your vehicle to protect your loved ones. I'm inclined to agree with zero11010. Occupant kinematics and the dramatic loads during high speed crash events (high speed is defined as any crash >10 mph) frequently see items tossed about in the vehicle. This includes items that you would typically consider secure.I use this same tool, but have elected to put it on my key ring. The ring has only the key, fob and the resqme too. It hangs sufficient low (or high if inverted) that I can reach it with either hand.Just my 2 cents worth.

The newer SOG Trident with the seatbelt cutter now have a glass breaker included. I have the old model in TiNi black with the seatbelt cutter, but no glass breaker that is still very nice. Also the S&W rescue knife has a seatbelt cutter and glass breaker, but is on the too heavy side (so may leave it in the center arm rest). Also at the junk yard with the door open or removed from the car break the window from the inside; you now have two videos of breaking from the outside. Maybe try a buss window from the inside to show you trying to evade the zombies ! Was at a junk yard recently and saw a couple of police cars so you can earn some points by showing the rescue of a PO. Thank you for another great video ! tjl

The hammers work well as long as you're not submerged in water (one of the situations most likely to cause panic/want to get out of the vehicle quickly). You also need a adequate swing distance & force adjacent to the window you're trying to break (something you may not have if the car is crushed or you're injured). The spring-loaded tools work in any scenario where you can reach a window.

I'm surprised how well the glass broke. Someone gave me one of those "rescue me" and I tested it on a rear view mirror : it barely made a dent in the mirror. Now I'm not sure what to think. Maybe I had a chinese knock off or the mirror was too hard or your glass too soft ... I don't know.

+Jean-Michel Nicolas The front rear windows are coated so they won't shatter like that. You have to break the side windows.

+Jean-Michel Nicolas The glass needs to be punctured where the glass is held firmly (in the corner ) so if its just a small mirror & not held firmly within its frame then it won't work.....it may just chip it. It will also not work if the glass is laminated like on the windshield or rear window of a car.

+Jean-Michel Nicolas Needs "tempered glass" to work. If your car doesn't have tempered glass, it won't work. Although most of the cars have tempered glass. www.bonitaglassshoppe.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/tempered-glass.png

I just bought one of these. I don't think you need to buy the visor clip. The zip tie that comes with the basic resqme is fine for attaching it to the rearview mirror.

I keep my ResQMe tied to my steering column with a piece of paracord. If there is ever an accident I just reach under the steering column and pull! I can grab it with either hand, and the passenger can grab it too.

What’s that silver ball on the end do? And will it work on windshields? And can you expect your hand to go through the glass too?
@TheUrbanPrepper
@TheUrbanPrepper 5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what the silver ball is for. It will only work on tempered glass like on the side windows. The windshield is a different glass type. No, your hand wouldn't go through unless you really tried to.

Does the Resqme work if the window is partially open (1/3 down)? Will it work from the outside on a rear side window if a child or dog is left in a hot car? You mentioned you buy them in bulk, do you sell them also or do you suggest just buying from Amazon? Thanks.

So do you have to puncture the glass a few time? Cause seems like you have massive amounts of glass remaining in the window. Also, you said you may not be able to use the hammer to break the window... but somehow you plan on climbing out the window. No hate just thought it didn't quite make sense.

Is it one use only? I've been watching a lot of "Adventures with Purpose" on YT. They are a team of divers who clean up lakes and rivers of old cars on the bottom. They occasionally search for missing person. It's amazing , and sometimes sad, to learn how many people commit suicide that way. What worse is they just disappear and the families have no idea whatever happened to them. Anyway I bought one of these because where I live there are a lot of rivers and lakes and I realized I had no "escape plan" THANK YOU !

On the package (Resqme keychain), it states that the glass breaker is good for several usage. Does anyone know how many times this spring loaded g.breaker will function before it becomes useless? I recently got one and I wanted to test it out (on a partly busted replaced window that's in my garage)... but if it only works few times, I'd rather save it for when it really needs to be deployed.
