Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my selected pokemon in battle

3. No glitches or exploits (the badge boost and marowak skip permitted)

Other Things to Know:
1. Pokeballs (HM Pokemon) are allowed in battle
2. I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
3. My Pokemon have perfect DVs
4. Skipping the bike is not allowed
5. Saving between Elite 4 members is allowed
6. If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter and I still have to reset
Terms:
1. STAB
--- Same Type Attack Bonus - a 1.5x damage multiplier for using a move that shares it's type with the attacker
2. DVs
--- The Gen1 equivalent of IVs (individual values), these range from 0-15
3. Stat XP
--- The Gen1 equivalent of EVs. But unlike EVs, you can reach the limit with every stat

I gotta say, I've noticed a huge change in your commentary style the last couple of videos. You seem more confident and relaxed, and you moved from a somewhat monotone, repetitive style to a more analytical and varying style. This has increased the quality hugely in my opinion! Great job!

This is interesting to hear, I have changed my commentary style starting at vileplume. I wanted to come out with a video weekly, and I would spent an entire 2 days writing a 10,000 word (not exaggerating)script.This left me with less time to do the editing and my daily life. Now I am doing a voice over of the gameplay. It's less deep than my writing was, but it's a lot faster. Clearly it's also allowed more life to come through the audio too. The more I do this, the better I'll be able to do it.

One more thing, your versus format is really good. And regarding which mons should battle each other; choosing two similar moms for comparability of course makes sense, but choosing Mons of different types but who might share other traits is also cool, because the two runs will be executed more differently. E.g. Machamp vs. Alakazam vs. Golem vs. Poliwrath (3rd evolution power houses) Ivysaur vs. Wartortle Golbat vs. Pidgeotto Jynx vs. Elacta Etc. Etc But it's of course a balancing act 😊

I've had some chats with hidden Jim about this actually. It's a difficult topic. My goal initially is to make a race where the two competors are neck and neck and you have no idea who's going to win. But there's also merit for doing matchups where like pokemon face each other, or pokemon with similar Stats but different types. My problem with the different type thing is that what if one finishes at like 49 minutes and the other is like 57, it won't be very fun to watch to the end. It's tough.

I think that the worst starter to face Dewgong is not Bulbasaur's evolution line (weak to STAB Ice) but Squirtle's one.

I think that vaporeon is going to do better, because of that massive HP. Vaporeon has 30 points higher and this will allow vaporeon to tank hits better, especially special moves

Ok so the process is a little complicated, because the guy who made the post doesn't hold your hand and help you do it.

First download the ips file from this post: www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=372328

Then you have to Google ips rom or something along those lines. When that's done, you then select the ips file and the rom file, and it combines the two.

Please note that you cannot use a custom rom (one that you made with a tool). For instance, I manually have to type Steve instead of the name being there like I used to because it uses that space. You can however change the starter with the universal pokemon randomizer without breaking anything. You just have to change the starter before combining the two files.

Funny thing is, I actually thought the opposite. At the end of my bellsprout video I said I was going to do dewgong. I did dewgong and got that crazy good time and after talking with hiddenjim, we tried to find something we believed would give DEWGONG the challenge.
