@@f1reb1rd94 I know lifesteal caps at 10 hp/s which alone is more than cursed torture most of the time but it really does depend on the run, w dex I know a lot of the times he's said he takes those items because it gives the run a definite cap so it doesn't go on forever and ever, he enjoys playing the game of course but when you have runs that stretch into really late waves in endless then it starts to become less enjoyable from what he's said. The other thing is that Dex is still human and does make mistakes in his runs so even without the previous reasons he could just miscalculate how much hp he's getting per second and think that torture is worth it

Had a crazy high roll on axolotl recently. I was playing the druid and swapped my ~1000 luck for my 2 ranged damage and my flutes went insane lol. Got back up to 1000 luck super quickly too. I died with a cursed obliterator in the shop that would have been several million damage per hit

When you have fan, shotguns get a lot worse, relative to ranged weapons that have one projectile. On other weapons the +3 projectiles is x4 damage that shot. On a red shotgun it’s only like +50%

I think Torture is a case of "right now I'm at a risk of dying I'll take it to win the normal mode, but it will haunt me in endless". When I do a first video on a char I only care about wave 20 so that's why I pick it there

So I feel like the optimal curious playstyle is also the default Brotato run (when you're not an optimizing streamer): a bunch of different guns. One SMG. One Shotgun, one Shredder, one Pistol....really good range with weapons of varying spread and coverage. Late outs to miniguns, sniper rifles...whatever. The community "six of one weapon tunnel vision" strategy doesn't seem like it was ever the intended mechanic, and was more of an emergent strategy that Blobfish leaned into.

I just had a similar run, with the Loud, i runned with ghost axes and stacked 564% damage, i got axotl on wave 12 and it swapped the damage with lifesteal, then, in round 14, i got bloody hand, 1722% damage in total and 578 lifesteal

at this point, I just have to ask, is Dex's version of brotato just completely different than the version casual players get? I had to do dozens of runs just to win a single D4 as captain, with focusing as much as possible on survival between healing and attack rate/damage, yet dex constantly takes odd choices like sharpened bullet which is trash for any weapon with multiple piercing like his shotgun, just to totally ignore bandana which. Even throwing around multi piercing javelins with I constantly am stuck having to skirt map edge later on despite having lots of damage. Having to reroll like 3 times in the starting shop just to get a second of weapon I started with, constantly putting around 30-50 into dodge hoping that adrenaline shows up only for it to never show. Like I get he does this game constantly, but it just seems so skewed with him putting out a seemingly effortless d5 with a different build every day to the point where he always goes into endless, where I don't think I would last 1 wave in. Still, nice to see such a swing for you in enjoyment on unintended builds popping in.

Hmmm I think watching the livesteam/s helps see that a video is not reality. Which I assume makes sense, it's 1 run and that run won't be the wave 5 loss. Don't understand the sharpened bullet comment though, the 2 items you mention appear at very different game and price points

@@DexTag fair enough, I get that one would wait till they got a great run to cut and paste the segment as a KZbin video. Brotato seems either drought or monsoon with RNG. As for my dislike of sharpened bullet, is the further drop off of damage, which hurts the point of piercing. Shotgun goes from 1/3 damage drop per pierce to 1/2 damage drop. Just always seems to show up in my run attempts and screams lower the ability to gut crowded enemies in high enemy density waves. I already usually end up having to skirt the map edge if I haven't gotten enough dodge or damage by those points.

I don't know at which point that was and depending on that my answer would change, but if you go for a lot of Bounces then Bandana does nothing anymore since there aren't even enough enemies around for the Bounces to happen - and Bounces happen prior to Pierce
