Someone once told me, where you have feathers you have rats......I had over 40 cockerels many years ago......we made a concrete pad filled with broken glass.....Wooden bird house with wire mess on every inch of the inside......Rats killed them all......If you keep birds, do daily checks on their housing.......Sadly I never....

Hi from Boston, MA, USA..Your birds, both the budgies and the love birds are the most bright and beautiful colors I’ve ever seen on these species. They also look and act like healthy birds, clean beaks and feathers, and eating enthusiastically as you pointed out. Raising birds and fish seems like a wonderful way to provide for yourself and your family. Good wishes!

Dex the dykes will be walked upon regularly especially during harvest. I would suggest planting deep and wide spread rooting vegetation that will help to hold the dykes together making them stronger. Maybe even a low grass species or reed. Larger vegetation may create too much weight causing the dykes to collapse.

Your birds are happy, you are happy, what a wonderful life. Your commentary is so fluid... and works just like therapy... Though your native language is not English (mine neither). Just this model and mode can be termed as "life". All the best from US.

Hello Dexter Sir. This is great progress. Your birds are also very beautiful. I used to raise cockatiel and I was giving them watercress and stale bread. You put the bread in the oven and then let it cool down. It will harden and you just have to put it whole in the cage. They will love it. Good luck and courage to you all for the completion of the project. God bless.

Dexter, you have to make sure your catfish do not escape into your natural waterways as you saw they breed very fast and will take over and kill off your natural fish. They can hide dormant for a long time if there is no water, they can also move from one water source to the next. Love your fish and bird farming.

The joy of watching you Sir while feeding your kois and birds reminds me of my favorite past time bonding with my late Father seven years ago I remember feeding our koi in my mini pond when he was still alive, we also have a pair of local birds before that we cherish. I'm getting emotional. Thank you always for making these videos. PS. I suggest po to plant papayas or any fruit trees or any tree that could hold the dike up and prevent soil erosions. Kudos DW!

I love your birds and little oasis you have created. I would plant bamboo for erosion control on your levee. Bamboo grows fast and would be useful as trellises and perches and all kinds of things. In addition to your erosion control. Also, rolling out chicken wire over your levee will prevent erosion too.

The multiple colors is a result of ancestors that were exotically colorful. Even if the birds you started out with looked like wild Australian budgerigars, they carry the genes of so-called “fancy” budgies. My beautiful sky-blue male and lovely green female produced a variety of chicks, blue and green. Two of the greens had startling turquoise jowl-patches that neither parent had. The other greens had wild-type coloration, but if they had been given opportunity to reproduce, the color of their young would have been unpredictable.

Your birds are beautiful, and I love that you have a large open aviary. But a few budgies have scaly face and foot mites (2:50 is a good example). It's something that needs to be treated - it's very contagious, and can be deadly over time.

Most of the fish pond owners in our area in Bulacan are tilapia growers but there're a few that grows catfish as well. The way they prepare the pond is almost the same. First they remove most of the water from the pond, then they use sodium cyanide to kill waterborne predators that could eat the fries (you just have to be careful in using it because it releases toxic hydrogen cyanide gas when it comes in contact with water). It could be bought in agricultural supply stores but it is regulated because it is also being used by poachers in natural waterways. They then put water in the pond and put chicken manure and urea to induce the growth of algae (it is more economical for them doing it this way because they will use less fish feeds but you could skip this step if you'll solely use fish feeds). When there's already a good algae growth, they add more fresh water before releasing the fish fries.
