Sad to see, but testament to how well built it was, it appears there was no collapse of any structural walls. Relive macks master piece

So sad, this is on the same level of destruction as Norte Dame! Tragic

Well the second fine finished what the first one started. This is criminal. There should be an investigation. Someone should go to jail for this.

Painful to watch, on so many levels. What was so interesting about the northeast corner anyway? Is that where the fire originated?
@fanwangfujian8 ай бұрын
"Painful to watch" Indeed. I am a lecturer and i have seen so many times the projectors were left on after use in classrooms. those lights are strong heat sources, hence such carelessness is a high risk.

Interesting footage. The building looks to be a total loss.

Two fires in the space of a few years. I wonder if anyone will face repercussions this time? Nah, probably not.

Interesting footage. Shame we didn't get more of the ABC.

Yep not seen any footage of fire damage to the O2 ABC apart from the collapsed roof ...BUT reading things a few yrs on in 2023 it's NOT looking good for it even though its a class C-listed building (Category C Buildings of local importance, lesser examples of any period, style, or building type, as originally constructed or moderately altered; and simple traditional buildings which group well with others in Categories A and B.) as After the fire it was just left open to the Elements and nothing was done as all the concentration went on to the GSoA ( obv as it's a renown structure by Mackintosh ...love his stuff by the way😉) this article is from 2020 so not sure what is going on with the ABC but it did look like it was going to be demolished as the damage was far greater than thought even though it looks structurally sound from the outside apparently it isn't! im currently looking on line for updates as of 2023 but found little news yet about the ABC and its Fate! www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/o2-abc-demolition-vermin-sewage-18175997

Now get the remains demolished and cleared away so some multinational company with no ties to Scotland can move in and build a block of expensive flats on the site.

But in the style of MackIntosh, right ?
@JohnSmith-pd1fz6 жыл бұрын
++ Kenny Little ++ No reason at all not to emulate the Mackintosh style in any new build on the site. The principals are well known and people have been copying original pieces for years. Even the terraced house in Northampton, whilst claimed locally to be an original is in fact more than half replacement and restoration which was carried out in the 1980's when the house was 'rediscovered'

william butler Only the English Art Establishment could allow this masterpiece to be condemned to die by NOT updating vulnerable service ducts and installing a sprinkler system. The best that can be done now (to honour Mackintosh) is to ONLY restore the 6 story West Wing Tower with an exact replica of the library behind it to be enjoyed by Glasgow's visitors for eternity. On the rest of the site build a sympathetic MODERN Art School.
