There aren’t too many original owner cars around. I try to document them when I get a chance. Her son maintains the car now.

In '69 took a used '68 Charger in that gorgeous metallic turquoise color home to my Mom to see if she wanted it, but Dad said too much $$$$... it had white top and white interior! 318, 2 bbl., automatic... $2595... only thing I didn't like was those '68 seats 02:15 that looked like they had been sliced open by a knife...

actually the opposite is true. cars in the 60's and 70's were worn out by 100k if you were lucky. they rattled, rotted, burned oil and leaked water around the windows, got crappy gas mileage and were death traps. i'm not familiar with the chargers of the era but the camaros, gto's, chevelles, etc were pretty junky after only a few years. they rode and handled pretty poorly and as for performance, todays 6 cylinders would beat a lot of those v8's. but the styling of that era was awesome and you could sleep in the back seat.

In the summer of 1969, fresh out of high school, I nearly bought a used '66 Charger as transportation to my first full-time job. My dad loaned me the money and signed for the car. @@DezzysSpeedShop That speedometer type is most often called a "ribbon speedometer". I just looked it up. Oddly, none of the Chargers had that type. I just looked that up too. Anyway, it makes me wonder what other car I was looking at those many years ago that had that type speedometer. I know I gave consideration to a Charger, and I bought the Corvair. Must have been another car in the mix in that car lot. The Corvair served me fairly faithfully for a couple of years when money was hard to come by.

Thanks for making a nice video here, Dezzy. As I listened to the story of the woman ordering her new car, I was wondering if she might be a gear-head. As the conversation of your questioning continued, sure enough it turned out that she is a gear-head. A sensible gear-head behind the wheel. Another nice part of her story is that she stated of her husband liking the car too. It's a beautiful car, and another that I had admired during my pre-teen youth. And it's hard to really believe in about three and a half years from now, that car will be sixty years old.

My wife has a g37 coupe. Loves it. But I bit you she would trade it in a heartbeat to have this as an everyday driver. One of a kind car.

My daily shopper is a 427 Cobra i keep my Charger R/T in the garage, as it only comes out when the weather is fine. I can see her now, little old lady with a passion for fast motors.

I would have bought one new in 68( was a baby then), because of the looks and having owned one later on, it was a comfortable car to drive. It fit my body perfectly.

I grew up in Buffalo. These cars rusted terribly. The quarter panels at the bottom and around the hood and under the landau material. But, we loved them. I was just a kid at the time.
