One of the best moves of the new regime was getting ready of McCoy and his hefty contract and drafting Singletary
@54GARYBOY4 жыл бұрын
Smart because they saw it was McCoy who had lost it all by the end of his last season. When he went to a great SB team he was barely a contributor and sat as season ended and Reid realized he was done. They wouldnt even give him 1 play in the Super Bowl-thats how done he was. He says he wants to play 2 more years? Good luck to whoever takes him-He was great but he was burnt out by time we released him.

@@SeatBill I have to admit, I hated the pick at first. I wanted Darnold. With him and Mayfield (who I didn't really want) off the board, I wanted Josh Rosen!! Not Allen or Lamar Jackson. It's safe to say I don't have much of a future in QB scouting 😂. Anyway, Josh won me over pretty quickly in interviews, OTAs, training camp and, of course, being thrown into the fire early in his rookie year and performing pretty well. I hope he continues his progression because I now I completely fuckin love the kid.
@SeatBill4 жыл бұрын
@@davep4211 I would have been happy with Darnold; I have great respect for his abilities. But that arm of Allen's.... that doesn't come around often, and when it does - you gotta take a very, VERY close look! Buffalo would have treated Darnold FAR better than the Jets have - and he would have had a lot of success with the Bills; of that I have no doubt. But Darnold isn't the pure athlete Josh Allen is; he's a pure pocket passer, and I don't think that's THE skill the NFL works on these days! Look at Mahomes, Look at Lamar Jackson. Look at Kyler Murray. Look at Russell Wilson. If this were 10 years ago; guys like Darnold would be running the place (as they did). But this is a different league, with different types of offenses; and, for the first time, you're seeing college-type offensive sets in the pros - like the run/pass option. You gonna run RPOs with Jared Goff, or San Darnold, or Kirk Cousins? Or, heck - Tom Brady? I'm not saying "if you can't run RPOs, you can't make it in the NFL" - but, you'd better have a damn good offensive line (and the Jets haven't had one for years)! Buffalo is building one, with a VERY athletic QB who has quite possibly the strongest arm in the NFL... and who has been getting 8-9 rushing TDs a year since he entered the league! If you're the defense, and you have to account for all of that, PLUS Stephon Diggs, PLUS Cole Beasley, PLUS John Brown, PLUS Devin Singletary - well, you'd better be REAL good! On to Josh Rosen - I think the Cardinals ruined him for all time! He's a guy who needs to be in the right system, behind a good offensive line... to really have a chance to develop - and he never got that in Arizona. He was also sacked about 3 billion times; for a rookie QB that has his slim physique, that's a HUGE negative! If he'd gone to, say, the Raiders, or Carolina, or even Tampa Bay - he would have been in the best environment for him, around guys who know QBs. But he didn't... and I don't think he's ever coming back. Lamar Jackson - hmm. *Well, first off, NO ONE THOUGHT he'd be the type of player he's turned into! Not even Ozzie Newsome could have predicted it!* In some ways, he had more questions than any other guy taken that year - which is why he lasted so long. He was a long shot, to me... but Baltimore turned him into someone special. If HE'D been taken by the Cardinals, or the Browns - do you really think he'd still do what he's done? Somehow, I doubt it. I love watching him play football (except when the Ravens play the Bills, of course), *but I would not have taken him in the 1st round during the draft.* Suffice to say, it's hard to figure QBs out; it really is. Running backs and wide receivers are a LOT easier; and THEY'RE no walk in the park! But I think things played out for the Bills exactly as they should have. Would I have been happy with Mayfield? Probably not; he was a headcase in college, and that's a dangerous trait for QBs to me! Darnold? Yes; I would have liked that pick. Rosen? No - I've never been convinced someone with his physique, and apparent lack of a real competitive streak, would have a good chance in the NFL. Jackson? I'd have taken him... AFTER I'd taken Josh Allen, and been able to sit Jackson for a year or two... until I figured out which one had the stuff! Like you, i was wowed by Josh's love of the game, his level-headedness, his lack of a huge ego, and his PASSION TO ALWAYS WORK AND GET BETTER! He's a blue-collar, hard-working type of guy; exactly what Buffalo is! In terms of makeup and personality, he fits the city like a GLOVE! So, knowing what I now know about these guys, *I'd STILL have taken Josh Allen - because, at the end of the day, I think he's going to end up having the best career out of all of them, except maybe Lamar Jackson!*

@@sgerovac My prediction? After the draft, and things settle down more in the country... I suspect that Brandon Beane will start talking to Tre'Davious White's people on a long-term deal. He'd want to get White signed before he has to work on Josh Allen's next deal. The problem will be that there are some corners out there who are earning way more money than they're worth - and if White's people want him ABOVE those guys, then it's not going to end well. We'll just have to see.
@jmaria5864 жыл бұрын
@@SeatBill gotta extend matt milano too. possibly dion dawkins. and at least pick up the 5th year option and then work out a long term deal for tre white
@SeatBill4 жыл бұрын
@@jmaria586 Good points. Personally, I'd like to get Tre White's deal done sooner rather than later; as we saw with Dallas and Dak Prescott, if you drag these things out too long, they tend to turn into holy messes pretty fast! Once I knew what the money for White's deal was going to be, then I'd have a better idea how much of the remaining pie Milano and Dawkins (and, later, Josh Allen) might get. The other thing that's sitting out there in the near future, and that you don't hear a lot about, is a new stadium for the Bills. You can't just keep upgrading New Era Field; at some point (and I'm thinking this will need to happen within the next 4-5 years), you're going to have to build a new stadium. Now, I know the Pegulas have commissioned an architectural study to see what the best solution might be (downtown vs suburbs, etc.), but the BIG sticking point is going to be: *who's going to pay for it?* My guess would be we're looking at a billion dollar project here; that's what new NFL stadiums are generally costing. Then you've got the questions of domed vs open-air, capacity, new ticket prices, naming rights, and so on. I don't think the Pegulas can pay for this themselves; so it will likely be a public/private partnership with the county and state (and most likely the league, too). Given the state of the economy, and the mess New York State itself is in right now - it's not a pretty picture! The tie in with paying players is this: a new stadium will let the Bills generate new streams of income (merchandise, parking, etc.) which will then make it easier to pay players. BUT - Buffalo is a small-market city; so you can't pass a point where ticket prices are too high for the region, or the seating capacity is too small, or the location makes it harder for some people to get to games, etc. These are all things you have to plan for - and whatever you decide to do will directly impact the financial stability of the franchise for the next 20 years - so, you've gotta do it right. As the Bills get better and better as a team, the finances will change accordingly.... and all of that is interconnected in ways fans don't usually think about.

There is truth to their schedule being very favorable and it surely helped but the team was growing and getting better by the end of the year before. They are not overrated this year-its the turning point for AFCE and its quite possible thats the way it was heading before Brady left. The 2 games vs Patriots were 2 of Bradys toughest and he had enough of them- you could see it in his face. He was beat up and tossing balls just to avoid hits. They didnt win-they got by. If youre a Patriots fan you guys had a great record breaking run but sorry- its our time now.
