I've just finished chemotherapy recently and started driving lessons again. I've been trying to learn and pass since 2020 but I've had to cancel and delay several times. I'm not a confident driver. I didn't consider myself a good driver. I spent WEEKS sweating about it. Then I've managed to pass first time, with one minor. If I can do it, anyone can. Regarding mini roundabouts, another instructor says they are not "overabouts". The number of drivers that go straight over is unbelieveable.

I was a full licence motorcyclist before passing my car test. And agree that we have good observation skills and overall become good drivers. My only struggle at the very beginning was using my feet to control the gas pedal/clutch rather than my right and left hands, and the overall wider dimensions, heavier weight and not being able to judge the corners of the vehicle. I got to test standard very quickly and passed.

Then why do most filter and swerve in front of car drivers? I've had to hit the breaks real hard when a rider thinks they've left enough space but haven't. And probably think they're really good when in reality it's other road users reacting to their danger. This happens on a daily basis both in a car and in a lorry. Utter organ donors what seems in over 75% of situations I encounter

@@annabaker12 I felt the nerves when the test started! I just kept myself calm and took it step by step and made sure I listened to the examiners instructions. I failed my first test so my advice would be if you make any mistakes don't dwell on them and keep focusing on what's next. Good luck in your test!

I also drove a motorcycle for about 3 years (from Norway), and have been told im a good car driver. My only issue is reversing, which is a bit weird to me still. That's the only problem I had on my drivers test also, I reversed back into a street and came a little too close to the curb. Passed my driving today first time with only 2 minors. Thank you so much for your videos definitely helped me. For anyone preparing for their test don’t worry too much, it’s not that bad. The 2 minors I got were I drove forward after my parallel parking because I was too far from the curb, and the second one was I turned left on a mini roundabout when he said go straight. Don’t stress too much if you haven’t got your parking nailed down because I still passed even though I didn’t do it right. The most important thing is be alert, check your mirrors all the time and move your head when you check mirrors too. Good luck

You can't get a fault for going the wrong direction, you must have done something else, or the examiner gave you a fault unfairly, not that it matters if you passed, however going the wrong way is NOT a fault!

I have never been taught that not checking my mirrors when stopped in traffic can result in a minor, only that I can check them for cylists etc anyways while I wait so I'm not just sat there. So after watching im going to make sure I always do! Thank you :) Edit: At one point he has to take the third exit on a roundabout which is the last exit - I've been taught that if it is the last exit you should always go in the right lane, but he went in the middle lane. I noticed the road marking said you could use either lane though. My question is: would you recommend the middle lane or right lane in this case?

Succeeded in passing my test today, second attempt, three minors, Friday the 4th of November 2022, definitely helpful to watch these videos! Anyone out there still yet to pass or take a test, DON'T let nerves get the better of you, do your best to stay calm, pay attention to the road, check your mirrors, and most importantly DO NOT give up, you WILL overcome and pass, it's not extremely difficult, you'll only make it harder on yourself by letting nerves stress you into making mistakes! Hi! I' m from Romania and watched this to see how the driving test is carried on in other parts of the world. I failed my first test for mounting a kerb. The test here takes place in busy cities with narrow streets and many intersections and roundabouts and it lasts at least 30 minutes. I had to go through that in heavy traffic, do parallel back parking, reverse parking, start from a ramp, turn the vehicle, went through 3 roundabouts with 5 exits and whatnot. I was so mentally tired and nervous that at the end i mounted a kerb at a 90 degrees turning right in a ramp and that was it. The examiners here are police officers and they are not very nice so to say. They give instructions in a high tone and rush you all the way. I will take the test again on December 9. Please wish me luck!

I rode motorcycles for 4 years before learning to drive only needed under 30 hours to pass first time with 1 minor. I think riding bikes makes you a better rider as on a motorcycle you are forced to stay switched on as any little mistake can kill you. I was also better at understanding lane positing and using the limit of vision to corner and judge speed, I was also used to speed, which is essential as it's all fast country roads in my area. I think also motorcyclists tend to be more practical people and less flappable due to the kind of people riding a bike attracts. I know longer ride now as couldn't afford a car and a bike but will definitely go back to it.

@dgn driving school As a Swedish driver (not an instructor) can I ask why every drive keeps pulling the handbrake when stopped? For me it just seems excessive, I understand if you are standing still for a while and are going to shut off the engine due to lines building up etc. But to keep yanking it at every stop just seems unnecessary, cars have brake-pedals for a reason and if you keep your foot on the break you won´t need the handbrake. Beyond that I find that strange, love the content.

Swede in the UK here. Most all cars here are manual. If you're on a slight hill, pulling the hand brake makes it easier to get moving again. I think it's also a different culture regarding lights - if you're holding down the brake pedal, your break lights will shine, and that can be annoying for those behind, as well as occasionally misleading.

They will range in price. It depends on the area and competition. Where I am it’s around £25 per lesson.

@@leannekelsey9983 That's awesome! Which city are you from? I believe the fuel prices, insurance rates, and food prices are the same all over the UK. I don't think accommodation in Sheffield is more expensive than the national average either. But, the driving instructors here have collectively decided to skyrocket their prices citing inflation. Learning to drive has become a very expensive affair.
