2019 was not an easy year for Twice when JYP himself wrote the lyrics of FEEL SPECIAL after speaking with them. The girls had gone through a lot of controversaries and rumors that year, -Jihyo involvement in Seungri's scandal -Jihyo dating news -Sana Controversary on commenting about the then current Japanese era -Members' Injuries and health problems (Mina's hiatus) You got the meaning of the song On Point Bro!

Of course, normal people will thiink it was just an opinion, nothing hurtful. Trolls hyped it up making Sana apologize and sad for a few weeks which is visbly seen when she was on shows.

Feel Special is a self-dedicated song, from TWICE to TWICE. 2019 was such successful year for them but so hard and cruel for their mental health... They wanted to thanks each other with this song. The MV is full of symbolisms and references as well. The members wrote all the bsides for this album and 21:29 is the song they dedicated to ONCEs. It's such a beautiful song, I hope you check out their bsides some day, they're incredible! :) Thank you sm for sharing your thoughts about this special song and your appreciation. I'm not really a positive person but in my case TWICE is my "comfort group", these girls got the power to shut my brain and distract me from life, you know... In my brain they're magical and their music has healing properties. Hehe Also, I know saying 'sorry for your loss' won't heal your soul... Feel Special came to me at the right time. I had just developed a serious case of anxiety due to some problems at school and I usually cried myself to sleep. When I heard this song for the first time I cried so much, so much that I was glad that no one was at home because I couldn't explain what was going on. It remains my favorite TWICE song and I am so grateful for the smile that it put on my face.💚

I've struggled with a hard depression and thought of ending it all, my mind found rest because of twice. i am 44 years old, people laugh with me cause i love twice and kpop in general. but they really saved me and i still cry with some songs cause of the importance it means for me. music can really save people

TWICE literally saved me from deep depression. I was in the brink of committing s*icide. I was in rock bottom. But I discovered TWICE. Bcoz of them, I wanna live.. Just to support them, to attend their concert again, I just wanna live bcoz of them.. I stanned alot Kpop groups since 2009.. But there's something really different in TWICE. One is I can feel that they sincerely love us, their fans. They're the best girls I've ever known.

This is an appropriate song to listen to if you are feeling down bc this song is special for real! Mina was on hiatus with anxiety and this song, although wasn't her official comeback, was a sort of comeback for her with them and about how when they feel down they have each other and Onces and they remember how special they are. So great! Plus the visuals and the choreo and pink haired Sana you just can't not love it. And Dahyun's rap and dropping it low moment 😱 You choked me up a bit there at the end I'm sorry to hear that 🥺

Also, there's a symbolism with the umbrella. The fact that the design represents a lollypop, it symbolises the fandom too (even Twice's lightstick is a lollypop), so it's like saying that the fandom (the umbrella) protects them from all that rain

I'd resisted liking Twice for years until this song came out, then I couldn't lie to myself any longer :p I think so many of us fans have used kpop as a crutch through difficult times so this song really is special to a lot of people. This song always make me feel with so much emotion and I cant just pick one because this song is so touching, so moving. This song was made by JYP for the Twice members for their hard work because at that time 1 of Twice member Mina was on a break or hiatus because of Anxiety. She took a break because she cant see herself going forward with her current state of mind at that time. This song was the SONG that Mina came back and Twice performed as 9 members again. Mate, you really got the core of the message (even without the context), which is probably more than most reactors achieve. Worth mentioning that aside Sana's scandal (and Tzuyu's early on), Mina/Jeongyeon depression, Jihyo not only got her relationship outed (along with Momo's), Jihyo also had an injury and - more importantly - she actually had severe anxiety attacks in public for almost a year, given all the attacks she sadly has received since day 1. But contrary to others, she decided not to stop working, as she is both the main vocalist and leader. She released an open letter on early 2020 about it, and thankfully seems to be in a much better place now.

6:23 as I think here is the ultimate point of the song. Mina has been struggling with anxiety disorder for some time atm, to the point where she'd cry on stage from overwhelming emotions, and JYP wrote this song and paired her with her closest friend in the group, Chaeyoung, to show her that she isn't alone and there are others to offer her a shoulder to move on from struggles. This comeback will forever stay as 'the special one' in our hearts for sure.

9:40 Yes, you are right, and I am one of those people who was saved by music. Not to be overdramatic, but I am really thankful that I got to know Twice. Their music saved me from committing su*c*de, and they are still one of the reasons why I am still here. They are motivating me to fight my own problems. They are all so kindhearted and down to earth. They are my inspiration in life. I really am thankful to them. Maybe I wouldn't be here if it hadn't been for Twice. I still remember the day when they released "Feel Special" and I was crying and streaming it all day. The lyrics are just a chef's kiss, and my bias is Mina, so when I learned that she would be on hiatus, I wailed so hard. I adore Twice and I am grateful that I was born in the same epoch as them.

Something that most people forget to pinpoint with TWICE are how amazing & lyrical their chorographies! (maybe because they dont easily catch it because of the language barrier) but if you watch the details of their dances you will find how they express the lyrics & story through their routines; they have such beautiful images & formations too; Plus the fact that they are all excellent dancers& performers make it even better; Their synchronization, details & musicality are insane . I hope you can check out some performances in the future because TWICE execute another type of charm & magical when they perform on stage!

At that time or before Mina was also having troubles and how I picture the song is made for Mina. But then again also others that are dealing with mental issues and feeling alone. I loved the reaction and I felt so similar when I heard Feel Special for the first time… 2019 was really hard for the Twice members and this is a song wrote by their producer JYP to give them the love and appreciation they deserved. Twice really was impacted (in a good way) by this song and it is iconic in all of the songs they ever made. 2019 was twice and once worst year because theres a lot happening to members specially for Mina, i also remember after their MAMA performance JYPE said jihyo aren't feeling well thats why she aren't present on getting awards because of depression but in terms of music releases 2019 twice was literally masterpiece.

Hi Daniel! I have been watching your reactions to Twice these past few days and I just want to say I absolutely love hearing your thoughts and interpretations, especially in this video. I am actually doing well right now and watching this video made me tear up and reminded me of how this song literally saved me way back in 2019 when it was released. Take note, this is also when Mina was diagnosed with anxiety making this song more special. It made me realize I had way more people who care about me but the white space I created myself failed me to notice that. This song made me come to my senses to also reach out. Sad, lonely, painful moments are part of our lives. Twice accompanied me through tough and happy days and I am glad you found their music and I hope it can also comfort you. Hearing quite a bit of your story, it must have been a tough journey. Now I am recommending some Twice comforting songs, mostly b-side tracks, you can listen to on your own time. when this was released mina wasn't present bc of her anxiety, and I cried a lot when I saw her in the mv and when I read the lyrics. in the beginning of 2020 before everything stopped, they performed this song with all 9 members and I cried so so so much...
