I love QWER and hope they get more attention, especially with My Name Is Malguem being written by Soyeon from (G)I-DLE (and to an extent promoted in shorts/reels by her). I've known of them for a while, they have streamer/cosplayer origins, in fact Magenta still streams every now and then! I believe it was a project that sort of caught on so they've been doing music now. Hope you'll react to more of their music, maybe even some of their live performances, they all seem like really cool ladies who are just having fun each time they perform 😊

Finally DG 🔥 QWER start as one time project band ( concept theme : anime oshi no ko ) by Egg Kim for a concert at the end 2023. due to the high interest and appreciation from fans, it evolved into a real band with concept growth rock band and influenced by jpop.

For more context Egg Kim is a major Korean fitness youtuber, the girls making up QWER are 3 streamers and a jpop idol who was burning out on the low end of the jpop group NMB48. Jpop idol groups like NMB48 or AKB48 are more like parasocial cabarets where they sell meet and greet time with every CD and the hope you buy a lot so you can interact with the idol. Streamers are people who entertain on a streaming service like twitch. Chodan and Magenta were twitch streamers. Hina was a tiktok cosplayer. Siyeon was the jpop idol who was burning out on shaking hands. Egg Kim recruited them for a series of videos but they got popular enough to be self sustaining. During 2024 they hear (G)i-dle fate and really beleived in it so they covered it, this may be where they met Jeon Soyeon. She took a liking to them and produced a song and appeared in a MV with them which is the Malguem song. She allegedly had creative input into the MV as well. In the last week it rocket up the charts and is floating at #3/#4 which is amazing for a group with no major company support.

Always love hearing your deep dive into the symbolism. You are one of the few KZbinrs who goes deep into analysis. The staffs all thanked her for that through the post. By jeon soyeons work I meant it's her team consisting of herself, poptime, daily and likey for composition, lyrics and arrangement.

QWER is a fun project band that has grown quite a bit in the last year with a couple members just learning their instruments but they are working hard and it shows. If you want to expand to some J-Rock, try some NEK!, another young female 4 piece band who really rocks and has top tier musicians.

Omg DG. I'm glad QWER was caught in your radar their songs are really good they are a group to watch oit for, but My Name is Malgeum has so much theories right now you'll like it even more. There's a lot of possible symbolism like the ones you noticed in the lyrics of the song but the video seems too creepy. So this might be a Ditto situation where a cheerful song has a grim entirely unrelated narrative for the MV. Not just Hina (the guitarist/mc of this mv) dragging what seem to be a body at the end, but how she seem to be tracing the steps of another member. How her pictures were found underneath the desk with injuries. And how the other two members that arranges the flowers with her stares at her creepily. These are hours concocted theories but as it stands, strongest theory seems to be that the vocalist was unalived by the other two members and Hina either avenged her or suffered the same fate at the end? Am I going crazy i dont even know if I'm just tweaking.

One of the theories some people have running is Hina is a Yandere, cause the song seem to be about unrequited love, and then it seems like Hina killed Siyeon, so I see some people saying it looks like a Yandere plot where if she can't have her she'll be her, and thus doing everything she regularly did like working at the flower shop

I respect the deep analysis, I may also add that Discord was about their job roots being a Cosplayer (Hina), TikToker (Hina & Magenta), Twitch Streamer (Magenta & Chodan), and an ex-NMB48 member (Siyeon) coming from different environments that are also why the other song that was released along 'Discord' is titled 'Harmony of Stars' to them becoming as a group. Fun fact Siyeon (Vocalist) - she is ex-member of NMB48 (A part of 48Groups - a famous Japanese idol group) that's why she's singing like anime song. Magenta (Bassist) - She is KZbinr and Streamer on Twitch. Hina (Guitarist) - She is Tiktoker and Cosplayer. Chodan (Drummer) - She is KZbinr. 13:32 - that scene make me a bit laugh because they inspired from Japanese TV Programmes (I can't remember what a name) they will go to school and find someone want to confess about liking or loving someone else and make like this.

not to nerd out but pay attention to how malguem uses color to code certain stuff. hina first entered the studio in siyeon's signature color despite the other two girls being completly in white. the symbolism of the blue flower blooming again after hina.. khm got rid of the two possible criminal khm... signals her finally being at peace especially bc thats her own signature color. siyeon wearing a black top to show her being diseased and polaroids that chodan and magenta took being white and pink ALSO to show their signature colors is so neat. i loved this mv !

she dragged both chodan and magenta, as you see there is some clips where siyeon being chased by chodan and magenta, and when hina finds out the truth, both chodan and magenta chased by hina.. you can see that both of them like being chased by someone.. hina avenged siyeon and she is smile because she already avenged her best friend and she feeling relieved that both of the problem already get rid which you can see in the first of video hina said "my name is sunny, but today is rain" can be symbolize as this day is a bad day but when i get rid of the problem the day become sunny again

In Korea, it is very common for women to show light affection between women. For example, holding hands, hugging, light kisses on the cheek, etc., mainly between the ages of 10 and early 30. From a Korean perspective, unless it is sexual behavior, it is not considered homosexual. Don't think of it by Western standards.
