Great job figuring out the negative chamber volume increase as the culprit for low ride height! I was going to go comment on that but then you talked about it yourself :) Most people just think that huge negative volume with higher pressure is the key to everything, because thats what the 'industry' is pushing for the medias to hype.. In my opinion you need more compression damping when running less travel, not less. Also agree on the offset being very important, I tested my element with shorter fork which had 51mm offset instead of 44mm and it felt horrible, long offset with slack head angle just does'nt work.

I think with the lower pressure in the main chamber and the ramp-up chamber pressure maxed, it would force the fork deep into its travel. Try reducing the ramp-up chamber pressure and increase your main pressure because I suspect the maxed ramp-up pressure is overpowering the main chamber PSI, and if that doesn't work, put that volume spacer back in. When you look at the sticker on the fork of pressure recommendations for rider weight, the brackets increase both chamber incrementally as rider weight increases, not just the ramp-up chamber only.

Great video, I’m about to pull the trigger on a new boxxer. My demo is 56 offset, I can choose 52 or 48, I’ve been trying to find info from riders who’ve went with a smaller offset number and felt they could weight front end easier. Sounds like I’m gonna go 48!

Have you thought about getting a cascade link for more rear travel/progression?

Yeah, that would probably work well…

how is it compared to a boxxer? I got the ohlins coil and it performs better than any other shock I've ridden

Changing stem doesn't counteract the trail offset in a fork. I tried a 51mm offset fork last month, super light steering and no self centering steering especially when on side knobs. I took the fork off within a week, it was nice on tarmac but even though steering effort went down I had to manually correct so much more
@briancahal Жыл бұрын
It doesn’t counteract it. But it makes it easier to wait the front wheel since the wheel is 10mm out further from you.

You should try a vorsprung smashpot coil kit on one of the single crown forks it’s a pretty great system

I’d love to give it a go. Vorsprung makes awesome stuff and Steve is a rad dude.

Hi a question, how to change travel from 200 to 180?

On this fork it is a different air spring.

what compression valving have you on this fork( C20 ,C30,C40 or more) and what is your weight? I ve ridind single crown RXF38 m2 with C2 compression and it s perfect even if I m 68 kgs

this fork was c20. c40 is stock. Im 82 kgs

hello, I've been riding my dreadnought for a bit over a year now and recently I've been looking into changing my zebs to boxxers as I ride a lot of downhill at fort william in scotland. Do you think this conversion would be worth it, if so would I need a conversion kit to do so.
@briancahal Жыл бұрын
If your riding bike park more then your pedaling and you like the feel of the dreadnought I think the dual crown would be a good option. I think you’d want a 180 or 190mm fork to preserve the geometry.
@JaggedTusk Жыл бұрын
Good timing for this video. I've been thinking of putting a DH38 on a Kavenz. After riding the RXF38 and DH38 do you think it's worth the slight weight penalty to run the dual crown over the RXF38?
@briancahal Жыл бұрын
If your doing full time bike park laps it would be sweet. For standard riding I think it would be a bit overkill.

Awesome video and deep dive! I would be curious to see how a dual crown enduro set up would be against a full downhill bike.
@briancahal Жыл бұрын
In this case I was more comfortable with my single crown. I think with the correct offset and a different tune the dual crown would probably be better on tracks like this
@rewind9536Ай бұрын
Funny that you noticed the fork offset ruining the experience. I am currently using Fox 40 190mm 27.5 with Mojo Morc 40 custom crowns and I think I get 40mm offset. This is a little too low. 42-44mm is the best. If I buy an Ohlins I have to use a 38mm to 40mm adapter and use my Mojo Morc 40 custom crowns to make it usable. I have no idea why the bike industry put so long offsets on DH forks. The companies must be run by complete nitwits that never touch a bicycle.
