Cooker ka ek simple theory hai, Close the lid when the water is boiling. Tej anch me ek siti, then kam anch me 2 siti(if dalmis not soaked) If soaked then tej anch me ek siti, kam anch me 1 siti. Let the pressure release on its own. Use the bigget burner in the gas. Also, put at least two drops of oil(preferably mustard oil) so that dal ka pani bahar na aye. Yeh hostel wali theory hai apna

Perfectly explained..i follow the same to same..add a small spoon of ghee daal will not come out while boiling..lid will be easy to wash afterwards 😃nd daal will smell nd taste better

I tried yesterday and it’s really amazing and specially it’s without tomatoes love it because my father in law who is 86 years and glaucoma patient can not see,this Dal is his favourite but he can not take tomatoes in his diet so first time I tried without tomatoes and he became very happy to have it because I am in Toronto and it’s hard to find without tomatoes from outside but I love your recipes I tried so many different things thank you for teaching us how to cook delicious food at home , one more thank you from my father in law

Awesome recipe Ranveer. Being a Punjabi, I just added a tomato during first tempering as I grew up eating Toor Daal with tamarind or dry mango powder. My wife tasted it and simply loved it. Thanks!!

I always fry the onions, ginger, garlic with turmeric, cumin and red chilli first then add the dal and saute it for few minutes then adding salt and water I let pressure cook it for 2 whistle. After the pressure releases itself then adding little warm water to adjust the consistency i add fresh coriander and serve it. And I only use mustard oil for the dish, because in North East India and specially in Assam majority uses mustard oil for every dish. And we don't use hing that often in our every day dishes because we always like foods to be light and simple.

Very nicely explained the concept of tadka, after years of using pressure cookers, I have switched to instant pot- just set the timer no hassle about whistles and dal is perfectly cooked. Also just need a plug point so the stove is free for other cooking. Thank you this simple recipe for most favorite comfort food. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Actually he is not telling the whole recepie. Tomato takes the dal into another level. Plus add some dhaniya powder and garam masala after putting Onion. Then add tomato and let it seperate oil and then add daal . After this go for the second tadka. Garnish with dhaniya.
