This is an absolutely lovely introduction to forgiveness meditation-easy to listen and meditate to, with clear, gentle instructions.

Wow. Just... What was that? I didn't realize I needed this that much. I became very intelligent and analytical over time and just didn't realize I lacked the habit to forgive myself whenever I made a mistake or didn't understand something or... thought about something I didn't like. Or felt sad. Hating to not know wasn't helping. Always trying to be the best in school/college - and even managing to do it - but becoming burdened. Overthinking philosophical thoughts. That sort of nasty stuff I said was just an example, haha. You guys definitely teach very rational and logical instructions there. Thanks a lot.

This meditation is truly powerful! It greatly helps me move on from the grief of losing my cat. I had been so numb and stuck from that event, until I tried this meditation again this evening. This meditation wows me every single time! Thanks David for pointing me here during this time! David is really experienced, and he knows what he is talking about!

Hi David, thanks so much for this. I was fired a couple days ago from one of the best jobs I've ever had. I've been beating myself up, hating myself for screwing up such a great opportunity. All a waste of time. I discovered your excellent meditation, and it brought me such relief. Forgiveness of myself and anyone else is so magical and NECESSARY. Thank you so much. I love you and Bhante and the brill work you do.

Six R’s: Recognize: any thought that stops your intention to forgive. Release: minds attention to that thought. Take your foot of the gas. Relax: any tightness/ tension pulling you to think about this thought, especially in your head. Soften into them. Resmile: keep that Buddha smile back on your lips. Return: to the intention to forgive. Keep forgiving. Repeat: when you get off track. 8:25

The more I practice these guided meditations, the more I realize my mind is slowly letting go of old misconceptions on reality (that I kind of knew were wrong and always wanted to abandon!). I'm successfully discarding thoughts that tried to block correct reasoning. Hm. I feel I'm getting rid of some nasty negative doubts on things I've studied and understood, on my daily life, school, all of it. Hehe this is very nice. And when I stay with what I know is right - with whatever knowledge we gain that has been proven to be right, be it by scientists, by philosophers, by buddhism - with ideas that fit reality and set you free from what is false - there's no conflict. Social taboos that they taught me are falling and giving complete space to an open mind. Misconceptions (lies that other people believe and impose on you with utmost certainty) are not bothering me. Self doubt when I've structured a mostly or perfectly logical thought is weakening. I feel this is working as it should. Oh, and I'm also developing forgiveness by the way. It's just that a lot of my difficulties existed elsewhere and started "surfacing from the unconscious mind" ;)

One last compliment for this video: it's very well told. Whoever recorded the instructions got it right with their soft and low pitched voice. The rythm of the phrases and the decision of what types of instructions should go first or after one another has been well thought out as well. This creates a sense of trust that the narrator/instructor knows what he's doing and can guide you correctly. And we know it's a reliable method because of... well... results.

I'm cutting the cycle as soon as an undesireable feeling comes up and it's working like magic. My mind suddenly becomes calm/stable and then I'm able to think correctly on almost anything I wish (or anything that comes up). It's so much easier than wasting half or more of your brain power trying to process stress.

oh my...i had just posted this on Facebook seconds before seeing this: Today's Ramblings: History is a fascinating topic, we never really know if what we are learning is truth, as there are so many different perspectives. I've heard it said that history is written by the victors. Who really knows, we all are probably fettered by filters of our own beliefs, conditioning, past experience, non-reliable sources and systemic frameworks that may not be conducive to right perception. As humans we are all imperfect, and our senses and our cognitive abilities my not be capable of understanding true objective reality when viewed from a higher perspective. God help us to be mindful of this and forgiving of both ourselves and others and help us to be peaceful and loving towards each other. ❤️✌🏼

As meditation goes deeper of.mind and body gets more relaxed, maditator goes deeper, so how to return to normal state of mind to end sitting of forgiveness meditation and same for Metta bhavana sitting?
@davidjohnson82183 жыл бұрын
Just return - You don't enter into any special state. Forgiveness meditation is just a contemplation of the past and forgiving it.

After listening intensively I have a question about the walking meditation, more precisely the "you forgive me" part. As opposed to everything else you described this part feels not "right". What is the exact intention or purpose? I cannnot know if someone will forgive me so this statement might just be not true (or in the vain of "positive thinking", telling myself things like "I am happy" when I'm not and thus lying to myself)! Wouldn't it be more helpful to be ok with them not forgiving me or not caring about it while focusing on my own forgiving? I had read about this "you forgive me" in B. V.'s book and this keeps nagging at me.
@davidjohnson821810 ай бұрын
I asked Bhante about this and said the same thing and he said the purpose of the walking is to shake out the things you need to forgive. Its shaking your mind to say "Ok , what do you want to let go of?"

@davidjohnson82189 ай бұрын
@@wolfgang4468 Hello- So don't worry so much about the "Feeling" of forgiveness but let's make it the WISH of forgiveness. Its just the sincere forgiving and LETTING GO AT THE SAME TIME that unpleasant story or feeling. That's all it is. Its like telling someone "I'm sorry, please forgive me, or I forgive you" That's all. Not a trying to stir up a feeling of forgivness into some cosmic state. Just sit with the phrases and forgive what ever comes up for not understanding.

@@davidjohnson8218 Thank you very much again, David. That's helpful. I listened to that guided meditation by Delson Armstrong and he spoke of that "warm feeling" in the heart I could not detect or evoke. I will definitely go on with this. Best to you!

I'm thinking a bit here... This actually improves the action of justice. It's possible to be a judge and apply a fair sentence to someone without getting involved in negative thoughts/concepts/ignorant social values/ and bad emotions. A magistrate or political leader training with this sort of mental development will create/cause a lot of benefits for society as a whole.
@gabrielrock58563 жыл бұрын
Oh, I got it. It's not that the person will necessairly forgive you in real life - this is not a prayer. It's more of a technique, isn't it? For you to let go of painful memories and past experiences? And maybe know that is possible (but not mandatory) that you are "forgiven back" someday and somehow...? Hehehe this helped me much. Especially on the "forgive myself" part. The best part is that it doesn't erase the truth of what happened, because maybe something really horrible was done to you on purpose, or you intentionally did something to hurt someone else.
@DhammasukhaOrg3 жыл бұрын
Just forgive and relax any tightness that follows - don't go into the story. Don't worry about them forgiving you. We are working on ourselves here and then we can change the world. :-)
