Dowry ചോദിക്കാൻ വയ്യാത്തത്കൊണ്ട് ഇപ്പോൾ pocket money എത്ര കൊടുക്കും എന്നാണ് ചോദിക്കുന്നെ .ഞാൻ ഒരു മിനിറ്റ് ടൈം കൊടുക്കും ഇറങ്ങിപോകാൻ.അത് എന്റെ parents നോട്‌ ഞാൻ പറഞ്ഞിട്ട് ഉണ്ട്‌. എന്റെ parents നും അതുതന്നെ ആണ് അഭിപ്രായം.

Hi Chechi, I faced some issues during my "penkanals." In 2021, I received a proposal through a matrimonial site. On a Sunday evening, the guy's family visited, and after some interview questions, they asked us to talk. While conversing, the mother entered the room and asked peculiar questions about my clothing choices and suggested they needed our money for their daughter's wedding. Despite this, I accepted. They inspected our house and took pictures ( her sister took) and later, they criticized our family and we heard it through a mediator. This angered me and I defended my family's honor. Two years later, I got married into a wonderful family, and God has been merciful. I heard the second daughter's fiancé's family cut ties with them, and I felt sorry for her. It emphasizes the importance of equal upbringing for both sons and daughters.

True😅 I did have same experience. I believe most of the girls face these similar situation. I feel that nowadays boys are taught by their mothers to bring large lump of money as their are boys and once girl is married supposed to take care of the house both financially and household chores. Once married , they shouldn't go to their own house or talk to their relatives. Girl shouldn't go for work and don't have individuality. They are considered as maid but no payment. Maids are treated better. Lot of incidents regarding dowry reported & some are suffering in silence/ some left the toxic relationship ----- still its keep on happening. V need a solution. A stop 🛑 to this mentality. They should be punished severely for breaking a soul. Human life is valuable. Breaking this girl mentally and physically. Like Filipino community, if a girl & boy wants to marry - they should make their own money & organise the marriage function. So that both families don't have a say . Its not just happening in Kottayam but many parts of kerala. Sad to say , its happening in most among so called educated people
