My father was born brought up until the age of 6 in Dhanushkodi. He has fond but short memories of his life there. Anthoniar kovil, post office and playgrounds. My father and grandma were saved on that fateful day as they had left for Madurai a day earlier for xmas vacations. However, my dad lost his elder brother on the train; the boy was 15 and returning home after his final xmas exams. After the cyclone, my grandpa who was a sailor, returned to their railway quarters with his surviving colleagues to find whatever was left in neck-deep water, lost almost everything except for a few certificates and had to rebuild their life from zero @ trichy. Thanks for the footage.

Out of Office 💓 I recall my grandpa saying that during the entirety of the cyclone his ship was docked at Mannar port and because of the waves the ship rose as high as a coconut tree and swayed like a coracle. He was saved only because he was in the ship with other sailors. They survived on biscuits for the next 3-5 days.

Are you sure Indian Ocean meets the Bay of Bengal at Dhanushkodi. Because i am from further south to Tuticorin. Even my own town beach itself Bay of Bengal. Indian Ocean & Bay of Bengal meets at Kanyakumari only as far as i known. Apart from that its a Beautiful & fantastic video.

@kader wavoo's travelogue You are correct, it is Bay of Bengal which surrounds Dhanushkodi. It is only in Kanyakumari where the Bay of Bengal, Indian Ocean and Arabian Sea meet. I wish the person who put this nice video takes the time to makes the correction. Facts are a casualty in the world of new age media.

Is your hotel is in Dhanushkodi or outside it. Its a haunted place, is it really ? My mam said that no one lives in Dhanushkodi.. wanna really want to know !! Pls tell
@OutofOffice15 жыл бұрын
There are no hotels in Dhanushkodi. All the hotels are in Rameswaram. Yes no one lives in Dhanushkodi (apart from few fishermen) as government never tried to rebuild it after cyclone. There is a reason to it a well, this place is near to Sri Lanka and hence there have been multiple smuggling and border crossing cases. To avoid this nobody is allowed after 5 PM to this place. During day time there are lot of tourist and shop keepers hence it doesn't look haunted. But nobody has experienced how it is after 5 PM.
@hemlatagaggar31355 жыл бұрын
@@OutofOffice1 why it then known as haunted place without any evident ? The fishermen are also not allowed after 5 pm?
@OutofOffice15 жыл бұрын
Because everything is destroyed it is called as ghost town. There are no paranormal activities. Only few fishermen live there.

The most worsts tour operator I faced during visited Ramesharam from madurai. They commited us to visit Dhanuskodi. But after reaching Ramsharam - They told that the ramesharam temple is closed on that day. Lately we knew that temple was opened after some time around 1 pm. Also they were not going to Dhanuskodi and told the road is blocked. The the total fake statements one after another after reaching the city of RAM and honorable APJ Abul kalam. I dont know but its makes a total negative sense about the Tour operators of South India. Its a total horrible experience during visiting South india. All are telling lie and earn money for sake of God. Which is unexpected and also keep a negative sense about religious people and holy places in my child's mind.

We hired a taxi and a known tamil lady came with us we told her in beginning we pay only 2000 from rani pet to kanchi ( it is very near)and some 10 temples and vellore sripuram temple and back to vellore bus stand.but in kanchi they behaved exactly like the way y said as it was 12 noon we finished 4 temples and again teme will open at 5 pm the driver and lady demanded rs 900 extra near kanchi kudil.when try to talk to driver he said the lady said only kanchi not vellore.they thought we will agree we just asked him to drop back to vellore and paid 2k which is very high .the driver skipped the evening visit.they want their money.textiles I.e sarees also same full cheat thecquality of tn sarees are not good

Rukmini k.. In this age..two thousand is peanut for sight seeing..u have visited 10 temples ..omg...what about toll charges for road...even for each charges it cost nearly 200.. R u joking..people living there spend around lacs on roads and taxi for travel.. R u living in timbaktu land where everything is free. Madam ..in this young generation who uses filter coffee..it takes 24-48hrs for it to serve.. For your taste.. U should use filter coffee packet rs 350-400 for you 50gm..at your home..not expecting at local restaurantfor rs10-20 .. If you cant afford the tour then why complaining.
