Today even, I failed a test on a part of algebra that I’m good at. Thankfully we have assessments were they affect your grade more than a test. And I got a 100% in the same part of algebra. My grade went back up, but it did give me a scare.

As someone who has autism, this is incredibly offensive and NOT how autism works, when I was younger and saw his autism videos, it only enforced the mindset that I had that I was the same as everyone else, and that lead me to not accept help, be really stubborn, be awful to my teachers, because I thought they were treating me like a baby, when in reality, they were just helping me, and giving me the accommodations that I needed, but didn’t think I needed and didn’t want. It's terrible how there's two sides to the stigma as well. On one side, there's the "puzzle piece" motive, in which autistic people need to be "fixed", and then there's the "superhero" thing that Dhar Mann is doing, which also isn't doing well in Although the terms "low/high-functioning" are a bit outdated (we usually just describe our situation e.g. non-verbal, or just use "autistic"), it's good that you know that there is, in fact, a spectrum to it.

At first glance, it honestly looks like a jar of soapy dishwater with a little cream on top, but the girl reacts like it's the triple gooberberry sunrise from the Spongebob Movie. Does Dhar Mann know what food art looks like? That's the bare minimum there- it's just some milkshake with a little whipped cream on top. As a person with autism (I know, there's plenty of people in these comments with it, but still), I will say that my autism has not been a massive hinderance on my life, but it hasn't exactly benefitted me, either. I'm very emotional, I can sometimes be a little slow on the uptake, my learning methods can be a little specific and hard to work with, the list goes on. Autism does not benefit me in any way whatsoever. I'm still a normal person, and I'd still like to think I'm smart, but I'm not a genius like these videos portray people with autism to be (Not to say the people in this were geniuses, anyways, this was some pretty basic stuff). Autism does not severely hinder my life, nor does it benefit me in any way whatsoever. If Dhar Mann wanted to portray autism properly, he'd show the ways people with autism are effected by it and how they live with it and continue to thrive despite it. He'd show that yes, sometimes they need help, sometimes they need things explained to them a different way, but no, that does not mean they're stupid in any way. These portrayals are just unrealistic, flatout. Why would these bully characters ever think these things about people with autism when everyone in the Dhar Mann universe who has autism is treated like Albert Einstein?

i have autism and i get bullied so hard for LITERALLY having a brain that works a little differently 😂 autism does NOT make me slow, in fact (not flexing) i recently got the top of my class in two tests, and i genuinely enjoy the learning parts of school. i get decent grades. i have autism. i am a “level two” autistic, according to my diagnosis, but i suck at maths. on a good day, i can mask really well. on a bad day, i can’t talk because i get overwhelmed. today i had to leave school early from a meltdown. I’m autistic and I have a client with a learning disability…everyone just needs to know that we’re all just people with different likes and dislikes and skills and struggles who need different types of support. I help my client read through certain things and rephrase it in a way they understand, and they help give me cool shortcuts and a ton of idea for day to day life things I struggle with at home. They’re also really good with cars. So it’s just like any other friendship with any other person.

I have a socializing disability but I found a very good friend, that helps me at school whenever we need to expose a presentation. He's a very trustworthy feller, sometimes a bit arrogant, but hey everyone has his own faults. It's funny how he has almost nothing in common whit me, but we still get along well. He always tells me how f*cking good I am at memorizing poetries. I have the tendence of stuttering too sometimes, even when not talking in public, and trust me it can be a real pain in the ass.

As someone who is also on the spectrum, I honestly can't say enough how much I appreciate you calling him out on misrepresenting the Autistic community. People need to realize that Autism is in fact a neurological disability that we actually a struggle with, and it is NOT a superpower. Yes, savants do exist, but that is only a small section of us. Trust me, I wish that my Autism made me like a human calculator. I would gladly trade all the sensory issues and trauma and bad social skills with just being socially awkward and so good at math that I could do a calculus problem in like 3 seconds. The way Dhar Mann is presenting both of the autistic characters is making it seem like he thinks there is some kind of look, because there is no way you would see both those characters irl and think "Oh, they must be on the spectrum" on first impression and a lot of the things that come up are some of the boldest assumptions I've seen anyone make about Autism. You were right, people shouldn't treat someone with Autism well because "we are the same like everyone else." We should treat people like Autism well, because they are human beings too. I mean it can be this way for some but for so many other its not! I'm an autistic person, and I'm the type that's good at math. I love it, it's like a puzzle. Sometimes I'll do it just for fun! It just clicks with me, and I want to have a math based job when I'm older. *However.* Having every autistic person as the "I'm really good at math uwu" and nothing else is an awful stereotype that tries to be good but isn't. Even me, who is the type that's brain is wired to math, have many other things. What about hyperfixarions? Loud voice? Lack of social skills? Picky eater? Strike one: Between this and that "mom fires nanny" video that you covered a few months ago, I am convenience Dhar Mann has no idea what students learn at what grade level and what kids act/speak like at what age level. If I had to guess, this takes place in sophomore year of high school so these students will be 15/16 years old. At that age level, a math contest would certainly not ask for simple percentages as their final round of sudden death. Maybe if they were in fifth grade but not high school. Strike two: Then he also proves he has no idea what autism is. I've met a few people who were autistic, and as mentioned, they're all different while Dhar Dhar treats them all the same. Strike three; He uses the laziest cliches of all time for his narratives. That the girls make it to the finals, the extended pause after answer she answers the sudden death question, and that the other girl's father was the server from earlier. Like seriously, Hallmark movies are less formulaic than this. Seriously Dhar Mann, do proper research, don't use bland/repeated character tropes, and learn to actually make a more compelling story by twisting it up then MAYBE they could start to be better at trying to get your message across instead of being the clickbait, cookie cutter crap. Then again, quality takes time and money which he doesn't want to spend rather when lazy feeds the algorithm beast just as well.

It was because I was given the tools to help me (such as giving the space to do work, my sped teacher helping me with assignments and giving me the breathing room) I hate how whenever people portray autism in media it's either you are very smart and you are a young adult it's just that you don't know how to socialize with people or you don't know how to speak to anybody and that you occasionally throw temper tantrums when things don't go your way. Which is just, disgusting to me. Edit: also math was not really my strongest, like I got good grades out of. However I needed guidance for that, I did better in consumer math (which has just math with money) but even then I still struggled. So, not everyone on the spectrum is a super Saiyan at math.

I just commented something similar about the portrayal in media. It's either a slightly socially awkward genius or a person who isn't able to function on their own. You seldom if ever see anything in between. I'm sure many with autism dient get a diagnosis (or at least not at first) be use they're neither and don't think they could be autistic (and their family doesn't either).

THANK YOU AUGUST!! Your point about how dangerous Dharr Man’s streotypes autism is so correct. Especially the “Austism isn’t a disability, just a different ability” in other videos is awful. Because this can be twisted to take away any help that autistic people may need in school. It also implies that we don’t struggle when we do.

@@wolffle_yt autism is classed as a disability. It’s a developmental/learning disorder but it does fall under the disability umbrella. And that’s okay. Autism is a massive spectrum so some autistic people might need a lot of support but others might not need as much. For example, I never needed extra learning support in school but one of my friends did. However, I did need the extra disability support for exams. I needed to be seated on the back row so I couldn’t feel everyone staring at me and extra time because I struggle with timing (which I don’t think I used but it was their as a security blanket to help me be a little more calm and less stressed)

I honestly agree that dhar mann has not met an autistic person As a teen diagnosed with autism I sometimes have trouble picking up social cues and alot of autistic people stim. I work with special needs children every day and yes some of the kids with autism are very smart but unfortunately there are other kids as far as we can tell don’t have much going on in their minds then there are kids all in between. But no matter what each kid is deserving of respect and love which we try our best to give. Level of Intelligence doesn’t equate to more or less respect/love.

My brother has autism so that hit me when tessa said being autistic means you're slow, considering the fact that my brother is really smart and he's only 9 years old, and my step cousins both has autism and when I was around them I literally couldn't tell at all.
