Also, 2) I'm autistic and I've always seen it as a blessing and a curse. I appreciate it for the way it gives me alternate perspectives of the world around me but it has been a journey to get over my personal hurtles. I can't solve a rubix cube nor understand subtle social cues, but I can tell you the finer points and useless information about world War tanks and strategic planning with too much detail. 3) no way in hell a child loving mother would sit there and let a principal call her children mentally deficienct.

I feel like the whole "smart phone" controlled electrical system would cost a whole hell of a lot more since you would most likely need to rebuild the entire electrical system to be able to function in response to it. Then again Dhar Mann probably never even had to do his own grocery shopping, so I can see why he has no concept of what things cost.

On top of that, I would think that it would take at least a few months to develop a system like that, especially since he doesn't have access to the school to do any testing. The fact that they were even able to install the new hardware without anyone knowing is also kind of insane.
@stfinalwrath Жыл бұрын
You'd need someone to build and code a program to run it off an application which would already cost quite a bit of money lol. No one is gonna build an app to run an entire electrical system for a large building for free, and electricians would likely have to as mentioned above, rewire the entire thing to be compatible with the application. It's just not likely or cost efficient no matter how you slice it lol..

Exactly. Suggesting a smart control system as an alternative to replacing the panel is dumb as all hell, considering that installing such a control system would involve replacing the panel anyway, and then some. Then you have to factor in the massive amount of software writing and you’ll end up with a project twice as expensive as a simple panel replacement.

I hate how autism in media is basically "smart but dumb"
@johncronin95405 ай бұрын
I agree, but the “symptoms” I’m seeing indicate not autism, but dyslexia, or some other similar learning disability, involving reading and writing. Of course, it could be the terrible writing, but dyslexia seems to more accurately cover the learning problems depicted in the video. I also have a pretty good idea that no public school system would ever be foolish enough to write such a letter, because they would almost certainly be sued. Of course, I can’t speak for every state, but most public schools, if unable to provide appropriate education for those with learning disabilities, would be required by law (I believe the ADA - Americans with Disabilities Act) to pay full tuition for a specialized school, as most parents aren’t going to be qualified to adapt homeschooling lessons for someone with dyslexia. I’ve had classmates with dyslexia, and they basically took oral tests and work, instead of written tests. They also had supplemental help outside of school. It would be pretty disturbing, to say the least, that the teachers and principal, who supposedly have degrees in education, would be so unaware of these learning disabilities that they wouldn’t be working closely with the parent in developing an education plan, or at least testing for these learning disabilities. I should also point out that there is no necessary correlation between learning disabilities and overall intelligence. One of the most brilliant persons I ever met (and had as a university professor) had severe learning disabilities.

I’m a 3rd yr electrical apprentice and I am sure that the solution the school needs is not monitoring the loads and distributing them evenly or whatever that kid was saying. I can also be sure that if the air conditioners are the cause of the power outage then they would not be responsible for the entire school’s lighting system to shut off. If the school’s entire electrical system shut off then it’s definitely a problem with the panel. From the sounds of it the air conditioners were newly installed so at the time of installation entirely new wire would be ran to supply power, meaning that they would be on different breakers than the lights. If they didn’t have enough space to put more breakers then a new panel would need to be installed so breakers could be put in. Finally I’d like to note that a breakers entire job is to divide up the loads that run each circuit and turn them off when the load exceeds the capacity.

In every appearance, he does super well in his classes, always studies, and is like some uber genius who always does the right thing. And I guess for the sake of the plot whoever writes the episodes kept him an uber genius but made him fail his classes (assuming not because he isn’t smart rather he just suddenly doesn’t feel like doing the work)??? As an autistic person, I've always never liked Jayden's representation of autism. Dhar Mann only ever says to the audience that Jayden is autistic, and never shows. The way Jayden acts is almost inseperable to a neurotypical person. And sure, one could say that it's because Jayden is masking (masking is an autistic person hiding their autistic traits to seem more allistic, usually out of feeling not comfortable enough around someone to be themself, or fear of judgement) his autistic traits, but in every video, in EVERY video, Jayden rarely displays any autistic traits. Jayden is literally just a walking "Oh look at me I'm helping speak for people who can speak damn well on their own" by Dhar Mann. And what's worse is that the actor is actually autistic. The fact that he's not allowed to actually show signs of autism makes it kinda sad.

100%. I'm autistic and I cannot name a single autistic trait that Jayden expresses. Even stereotypical ones, aside from the whole 'genius' thing. No sensory problems, no issues with motor skills, no social difficulties... it's almost impressive. The BEST I can think of is that electrical stuff *might* be a special interest of his, which would explain why he's so good with it. But that doesn't seem to be what Dhar Mann was going for, seeing as Jayden is evidently a genius at other stuff. If Jayden's actor is autistic in real life, then that makes the whole thing inexcusable. But it would explain why I've always had a soft spot for him. (On an unrelated note, if my mother had received a letter from my school saying I was 'mentally deficient' or anything like that, she would have burned that school to the ground)

Which in most cases is prohibitively expensive and would take an actual firm months, if not years to design and implement. So long as the AC isn't pulling an excessive amount of current due to a faulty compressor motor, replacing the main breaker and inspecting/uprising the feeder conductors should solve the problem.

As someone whom is autistic, I hate how a lot of media very often portray autism and other disabilites as something you WANT, or that it makes you SPECIAL, or that you're SUPER SMART. Like no, you don't want it, it isn't a superpower, and almost every autistic person I've met would agree with me when I say that not only isn't it a "superpower" and makes us geniuses, we have a much harder time learning in school, and even learning "basic" stuff that "normal" people already know. Also, the "Gifted Kid" to "autism/adhd" pipeline is TOO acurate...

Yeah, no, it’s certainly not. People without it shouldn’t sit there be saying “ahh, I wish that were me”, because no you don’t. Social skills and speech are a huge issue with a lot of autistics, so making friends becomes x10 harder. Still, as someone who was born with this affliction, I’m not ashamed of it. I’ve adapted and I’ve improved. I can’t speak for everyone, as I’m actually quite privileged in comparison to a lot of autistic people, but I would say to think of it like a part of yourself, and this is the hand you were dealt, so you might as well play.
@the_hostess Жыл бұрын
@@snowset675 Exactly! I may not want to be autistic (with adhd), and I CERTAINLY do not wish to have OCD, but I do. That is also why I, and many other people, have stopped saying "I have autism", and instead that we "are autistic", because it is who we are. I hate all of my struggles and issues, but without them I wouldn't be myself. Everyone, like you said, are dealt with different cards in life, and we just have to deal with them. It is not something to be undermined, or seen as a disease, or that we are less intelligent, but it is also harmful to make it seem like a "gift", or something that makes us "special". LOL what’s even better is that it’s straight up illegal. Schools can’t kick students out on the basis of disability or, to use the video’s word, “deficiency”. Even in the case of expulsion or excessive suspensions, the school has to be able to prove that it was because of a behavioral reason rather than a disability or intellectual ability reason. As a fun fact, if a school suspends or expels too many students who have IEPs they’ll investigate it and the school will be charged with proving that it was because of behaviors and not because of the IEP or disability.

I’m glad you covered this one because I have a lot to say, and I don’t know where to start. I guess I’ll start off with the school. Are you telling me that the school has no special ED programs? No IEPs? Not even any referrals to other educational institutions which would be better suited to deal with those like Jayden? They have NOTHING?! Is Jayden the only kid in the entire school with autism or any sort of disability? I guess he is, because it is the Dhar Mann universe after all. But I find it contrived that they have no sort of special ED program or accommodations setup. Also I’m pretty sure you can’t just expel a kid just because he has a disability. That’s not how that works. The kid has to do something to warrant expulsion. Being “mentally deficient” is not grounds for expulsion, and I find it grotesque Dhar Mann would even think that’s how any of this works, because it’s not. And now the mom. If the mom is the same character as in the Mikey videos why does she just go along with her kid being kicked out of school for his disability? She can plan all sort of traps and scenarios to teach her delinquent son a lesson he won’t learn, but she can’t apply just 5% of that same cunning here to help her son with a disability? She’s just going to throw her arms up and admit defeat? She’s not going to try and challenge the school or advocate for her son? Because if you’re handed a letter saying your son can’t go to school anymore because he is “mentally deficient” then I’m pretty sure you have solid grounds for a lawsuit against the school. Also why is she letting the same school who kicked him out for his disability take advantage of him? The electrician will surely be paid, but is Jayden going to be paid? I very much doubt it. He was being used as free labor. I know he volunteered to do it, but I still don’t think the mom should have let him. Because I feel that would potentially teach him that he has no value beyond what labor he can provide, and that it’s okay to let the same people who tossed you aside for your disability use you for their own gain. Jayden literally has nothing to gain from helping the school aside from the satisfaction of doing it. It’s the school who reaps all of the rewards while Jayden is left holding the bag. Also why is the electrician showing up at his house asking for Jayden’s help? Again, why is the mom not questioning why some random man is asking for her son? I think I would be calling the school and the police if I were her. Finally I wanna talk about Jayden. In past videos he was shown to ace literally everything. He would get perfect scores on EVERYTHING! So why is he struggling now? I know they wanted to demonstrate how people with autism may struggle with things, but using this per-existing character just didn’t work for what they were going for. Since it’s the same character from the Mikey videos, the whole “he struggles with written assignments” just doesn’t work because it contradicts what came before. Also why is Jayden being kicked out of school, but Mikey isn’t it? I think they should have used a new character. I’m obviously not expecting Oscar winning writing from a Dhar Mann video, but I think they could at least be consistent and portray things like autism and disabilities with more tact and research.
@ItsSoBadBruh Жыл бұрын
Everything you just said was exactly what I was thinking. Jayden gets perfect scores on every subject in the past few videos, all of a sudden, he doesn't in this video? It really makes no sense. And isn't Mikey in the same class as Jayden? Why isn't Mikey in the video? It's not like the age difference mattered, considering it's been shown that they're in the same class in almost every video 😐

I feel like I could go on forever about all the things wrong with this video, but my favorite has to be when the electrician just shows up at Jayden's house. Imagine being the mom after she answers that door. Like, excuse me? Where did you meet my son and why did the school think it was okay to give you his address? Also, who are you? What kind of person shows up to your house to see your kid, but doesn't even tell you what his name is? Even better is the total sus-face Jayden makes when the guy explains how he found him. As someone who is both Autistic, and a middle school teacher this video is ridiculous and upsetting. But the thing that really killed it was at 8 minutes when the principal straight up discloses that kid's diagnosis to the guy. It's a serious HIPAA and IDEA/IEP violation which would have that admin up on potential legal charges. Also, how gross to do that to a kid who cannot consent to his diagnosis being shared like that. No kid owes an adult their diagnosis. It's the adult's responsibility to have patience and understanding. And, you know, be the goddamn adult in the situation.
@kassmorris6227 Жыл бұрын
And now I am getting enraged at every teacher outing this kid's grades and insulting him in front of other students. And the science teacher telling him he needs to be "good at everything" Has this school even heard of accommodations? Something tells me every teacher here is in violation of his IEP... And he has a documented diagnosis. So he's entitled to that or a 504 plan. Not providing one is a violation of federal law in the US, subject to the school and district suffering huge financial penalties for not meeting this kid's needs.
@adamvalerio1377 Жыл бұрын
As a person that isn’t autistic, no that is not a HIPPA violation, I wish, just wish a little bit that before people type “iTs A HIPPA vIoLaTiOn” would just google what anHoppa violation really is. My source besides simple searching is that my wife is a Director for a major hospital network.
@kassmorris6227 Жыл бұрын
You're right. It's more of a FERPA violation, which extends medical privacy protections to students under the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act. Regardless, it is illegal for school officials and teachers to disclose a child's diagnosis to anyone who is not on a student's IEP team.

I am on the autism spectrum myself and I can confirm that all people on the spectrum are different which is why it is called a SPECTRUM to begin with. I did not speak until I was 5 and I was put in special ed in kindergarten. I rode the special ed bus until I was in 3rd grade. I was in regular classes and at times, I'd go to another class room so there was back and forth. I had trouble socializing with peers especially in middle school. I do get shy and nervous and around strangers but I open up fairly quick. I am quite prone to hyperfixating on things even as an adult such as video games, books, plushies, iPods, and TV shows. Just because someone is autistic doesn't automatically make them "dumb" or "stupid". I got called the R word often in sixth grade and felt I was broken in certain aspects such as my social skills for example. There are those on the spectrum that are very talented at things such as building legos and there are those that struggle in other aspects such as maybe a specfic class in school, communication skills or regulating emotions.

The appliances pull a set amount of current from the system, there might be such a system that could do that, but it would need to be implemented into a substantial number of the appliances. To fix this problem, 9/10 a sub distribution board would be added on the side, much cheaper. 1/10 they get approval for an upgrade and replace everything.

Also looks like his experiment was a little transformer..... they work backwards... flipping the wires would have changed the current direction but would have worked all the same.

Trying to be a electrical apprentice myself I know all the knowledge for electric, and passed 2 schools already top of my class, and yet everywhere wants an experience electrical apprentice like that makes any sense at all, like why would an apprentice go out of their original job just to go to yours. Idk man still looking though

16:12 even the codings bad, it uses python and says compiling. For people who dont know, python doesnt compile files. As well this code does nothing useful, it goes through the numbers 1-9 and counts how many even numbers there are.

God, I hate when Dhar Mann portrays people don’t accept autism people because they think they’re too dumb or something, then something happened like they are so good at this or so good at that (even might be better than them), they accept them and said “ooooh it’s different ability” it’s not good, they should be accepted regardless 😐

The way Dhar Mann just tells his actors the script to say even though they don't even know what it means just shows how unrealistic these scenarios are

This is kinda why I stick to shows like WWYD if I want to watch something like this. At least WWYD is a social experiment and makes sense (they use things that have happened in the news and such to make their episodes). Dhar Mann has fallen from what little humanity he had in his videos and it's just cringe now.

The fact Dhar Dhar thinks it's possible to identify a specific type of power outage by how the lights go off is just crazy. I had an autistic friend in primary school, and he was incredible at rubiks cubes, not going against the laws of nature.
