As someone who has Crohn's disease I will say this is depicted pretty accurately. I think many of us are inclined to try to hide this illness because some of he symptoms are so embarrassing. Missing the end of a movie because I couldn't leave the bathroom is something that happened to me. This video made me come close to tearing up a few times. Thanks for representing us here.

This is actually a good message, Dhar! I was diagnosed with Chrons at 9 years old, I hid my symptoms atleast 6 months because I was scared. Slowly I started to lose weight and losing blood. I couldn't eat. My school work was getting affected, I sleept on classes, couldn't run at gym class. Everyone started to see something was wrong. Then one night my mother heard my go to the bathroom almost every 15 minutes fo a few hours, she became suspicious. She took me to the local clinic and they saw that I was severely underweight, malnurished and looked bad over all. They took a blood samble, and bam, we're on our way to the emergency room in a ambulance. I had such low blood count the nurse was surprised I was consious. I was in the ICU for a few days. Drifted in and out. Then I got better. The medications were horrible. This one medication, my enemy, Cortisone, made me very chubby in my face and made me gain weight pretty fast. I'm 31 now. The Chrons is still haunting me, every day. But it's a little better now. All my 3 siblings have it too, but much milder. It's a horrible disease and I don't wish it on any one.

God that scene at 3:25 got me deep. I have epilepsy and well I've had a few seizures in school and that have left with people talking about me. It's so embarrassing. I had a girl walk up to me that was in my class when I had one and she just made me feel so insecure. People need to understand that people with these illnesses have feelings too, and they don't need to be talked down because of them. Everyone has their flaws. But some take their own insecurities and put them on someone else and make them feel bad. I love this video and the message. You shouldn't hide your flaws you should embrace them!!!! Love you dhar man

I feel you I heard them say that and thought Epilepsy is a serious thing that could end lives or ruin them and it definitely isn’t funny when someone has a seizure or stroke or something like that
@katherinehalliwell Жыл бұрын
@IzaacChristian-bx3bq seizures have definitely ruined my life. I'm 18 and I can't drive due to them. And I have very strict rules of what I can and can't do due to them. The only good thing is I'm getting a service dog to somewhat give me a sense of freedom. And you're right they are serious. People can die from them. It rarely happens but when it does its devastating. I've had many in school and I have been talked about. And made fun of. Kids doing jokes. Flickering the lights on and off.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you’re doing well. When I was in grammar/elementary school there was a boy in my class that had seizures. I don’t know if it was epilepsy but it’s possible. Me and my classmates all knew about his illness. We were taught by our teacher and the school nurse not to be afraid, and it’s something he can’t help. We were also trained at that young age that if he suddenly has a seizure, lay him down on the floor and keep him calm. Have one person run and get the nurse. He was our friend and always helped him. No one ever teased or bullied him about it. Never even joked. Maybe kids were raised differently in the 70’s.

As someone who is suffering with Ulcerative Coilitis (very similar to Chron's Disease), this video meant a lot to me. I, like Jake, have been embaressed about my disability ever since I was diagnosed with it. The difference is, that when I tell my friends about it, they shame me and not want anything to do with me anymore. Which is why I don't have a social life. So, I can certainly see why Jake would want to hide his disability--it hurts so much when your circle falls apart because you are upfront and honest with "friends."

Thank you for this... It kind of hurt to watch actually... I have a appointment for same reasons on the 27 of November... I am in so much pain sometimes, I can't even get off the floor hours at a time... I sometimes wish my body would just fail and it would all just end... Every time I eat (If I make myself) it hurts so bad. Either nausea or gas pain of different pain levels. My breathing also seems to be affected at times. It may either be Crohn's or IBS, which if thats the case, then I'm screwed. I have horrible anxiety and stress issues that there's no way i'll ever be free of this. However, I'm trying to stay positive! With my mom by my side, I won't be alone at least! Anyway, sorry for blabbering! Thank you for this vid- Please spread the love becuase you never know what someone is going through...I love you all; Keep fighting~🖤

One of my extended family members died from Chron's Disease about 8 years ago - it was the son of uncle's brother (that uncle is married to my mom's eldest sister, so he wasn't within my actual family tree on my mom's side of the family, but our family is incredibly large and welcoming of people indirectly related to us). I never met him, but I attended his memorial service with my immediate family since all of our relatives did.
