For example, if your fear food is eggs, you could also just take vitamins and supplements to help with the recovery. Sadly it is, when my son was 2.5 years old he became afraid of eating all food. He went from 70 percentile in weight to 3rd in a matter of months. He went from 34 lbs to 27 lbs. All because he was afraid to eat because he thought it would make him vomit. Thankfully after feeding therapy, Occupational Therapy and a lot of prayer!! He's doing so much better! He is st the 50th percentile for weight still struggles with some foods, but eats enough to be gaining weight and growing. He's small for his age, but he's catching up. ARFID is scary and can strike without much notice. Every stomach she he gets were concerned he won't want to eat again.

As someone with arfid, the title is not exactly what arfid is. It’s more like “girl is sensitive to food” because I’m not scared of food, it’s more like if every taste, smell, etc, of food was 100x stronger except for the foods that your confortable with, and you can taste things that your not even eating, that’s more what arfid is like. And also Arfid can make you lack nutrients, and make you more skinny (not model shinny like unhealthy skinny) (Edit: I’m sorry that I got some info wrong 😅 I meant more that arfid *usually* isn’t the fear of food, it’s more likely sensitivity, so putting it in that box is false bc not everyone with arfid is scared of food. Arfid is different for everyone because there’s also different types. Hannah has all 3 types. I also have ARFID and have all 3 types. Now for me I am actually scared of food because I’m also scared of the implications eg choking, getting sick, becoming allergic etc

I have ARFID. This video is kinda exaggerated. It isn't a phobia of food! It's a phobia of *trying* *new* foods. And it's not really a phobia either- it's an ED. Describing it as a phobia is just something people do to help others understand it better. Nobody with ARFID that I know of is gagging and barfing at the mere sight and mention of their unsafe foods. It's the act of being pressured to try it, or actually trying it, that's the problem. And it tends to develop in early age, which is why it's always really basic "toddler foods" like chicken nuggets, fries, chicken strips, pizza, etc.. Yes the list of safe foods tend to be relatively small in comparison to the average persons, but it's rarely as small as hers. My list is atleast 30 individual food items, and that's the minimum. Also, a bully telling you your food is bad can definitely discourage someone to stop eating it at school, but not in general? Safe foods don't suddenly become unsafe when a kid says "Erm I think honey is bee poop" LOL. I empathize heavily with this girl, but the way it's portrayed in this video is inaccurate and dramatized for content. This isn't that useful for bringing awareness besides making it seem like a made up ED used in, well, a Dhar Mann video. It's nice to see it given some actual recognition through a large audience, but I wish it was done with a little bit more care in mind.

Hannah's story reminded me of something that happened that I think is pertinent to Hannah's story. I had to go to a doctor some years ago complaining about some achs and pains and he suggested a solution that I certainly didn't want to try, but he insisted and so I did. My problem wasn't fear but disgust for his solution. After trying his solution, I found that the solution wasn't as bad as I thought and have been using it since. My point is that there are many things that can keep us from moving forward, and Hannah's story points out the hard things in life do not have to be impossible. Thank you Hannah for being an inspiration to many people. 😊
