Chacha Bhatija aur Dharamveer me bhi Rafi sahab ne hi Dharamji ke liye playback and in fact O meri Mehbooba from Dhramveer was also very popular. LP always remained faithful to Rafi sahab and in his final years LP Rafi sahab gave 4 movies with great songs Amar Akbar Anthony Suhaag Asha and Sargam (6 solos for Rishi Kapoor). Rajesh Khannas success cannot be called as short-lived cause his popularity in his prime remains unmatched till date.

Nobody can sideline a legend. . As far as Rajesh Khanna was concerned, his voice matched the voice of Kishore kumar. Therefore his preference was understandable. But people like Dharmendra made a name using Rafi's voice and then switched to Kishore. Even those with light voices like Rishi Kapoor went in for Kishore's voice at that time. Amitabh who followed as super star also used Kishore Kumar's voice. Therefore your suggestion that RK was responsible for sidelining the legend Rafi is foolish. Another point is most of our film actors' voices are not musical. It was the quality of music that was given preference. Please note that it was Mohammed Rafi who sang for earlier Rajesh Khanna's films. The same is the case with Dev Anand and many other actors. Similarly earlier songs of Rishi Kapoor was sung by KK but later it was Rafi Saab. Therefore a good singer can match any actors' voice. Primarily, it is the quality of the song that need to be considered. I am a layman as far as music is concerned, not that much learned about music as many of you are. But, when you have a debate on any art, literarature music or even technical subjects, we normally seek the views of the so called expert artist or technical or musical wizards as the case may be. Now let's listen to the music directors and singers who are musical wizards themselves. Generally everyone accept the fact that a complete and perfect singer is one with a melodious, deep voice, who can sing all types of songs effortlessly including classical, bhajans, qwali, ghazals, songs of both high and low pitch, songs of all moods and expressions without losing the quality of his voice. About the quality of voice, for your information, in 2013, that's after 33 years of his demise, Rafi won the CNN-IBN poll for the Greatest Voice in Hindi Cinema. Moreover, even for some of KK's intitial few songs Rafi Saab had given playback including the famous song "Man Mora Baavra." Further, some of the songs with high pitch like "nafrath ki duniya" in Hathi Mere Saathi, Kya Hua Tera wada, yemma yemma could not be rendered by KK and they had to get these songs rendered by Rafi Saab. Rafi Saab is the one singer having all those qualities. Then the question is why music directors chose KK was due to hidden reasons which I don't want to explain. My humble opinion is that KJ Yesudas, Manna Dey and SPB and music director AR Rahman (Oscar winner) have at least better knowledge of music than you or me. They are musical wizards. Now continue.... Rafi has been and will be an emperor of this music world for ever. Kishore was also a good singer but he was not so talented as Mohd Rafi has been. Rafi has been skilled in the singing of all types of songs because he was a trained singer who had learnt singing by taking proper training in shastriya Sangeet. Rafi has sung all types of songs eg sad songs, romantic songs, kavvali, bhajans, patriotic songs and all types of songs. Kishore had also accepted when he was alive that there were many songs which could not be sung by Kishore but as per the recommendation of Kishore the same was sung marvellously by my favourite ,the greatest singer, . Mohd Rafi sahab. Rafi has been the greatest singer so far and I think Rafi will remain the emperor of this music world as a singer till this universe exist. Rafi must be offered the Bharat Ratna award as soon as possible. My salute to mohd Rafi . Sahab.
