If they were all mechanical horns, and set to continuous, instead of having these new crickets on steroids, the fire alarm system would sound lovely, scarier, harmonious, and bring back the good old days of my childhoods 80’s and 90s school days. Good video tho; and understandable, that those old Simplex horns are hard to come by.
@BlackLightning45474 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Yeah, the evolution of fire alarms and fire alarm systems is mindboggling. Going from AC mechanical horns and bells, to DC mechanical/electro-mechanical horns and bells, to electronic horns, to piezoelectric horns, to speakers. Also went from unsynchronized non-ADA 1.5cd(or less)strobes to ADA synchronized multi-candela(capable of 185cd)strobes; an open-close circuit, to conventional FACPs to intelligent/addressable FACPs. Yes, we all know that old-school was the best time of fire alarms as they were built with higher quality, sounded amazing together, cooler looking, and now hard to come by nowadays.

My 5 year old watches your videos. I now have random alarms, strobe, pull stations in my house. I have to figure out how to set it up.
@BlackLightning4547 Жыл бұрын
That's awesome! It's pretty simple to setup. You'll need some wiring(preferably 18 gage, solid or stranded works) to connect the devices with and a power source to power them. The power source can be an AC to DC wall adapter, three 9 volt batteries put in series, or a power supply. I'm assuming the alarms used are 24 volts DC, so you want to get a power source that provides that. Depending on how many alarms there are, and the kind of horn strobes(mechanical, electronic, etc.), the 9 volt batteries may not be sufficient for the task due to their low amperage, plus you'll have to get new ones overtime as they get used, so a wall adapter or power supply is your best bet. Now, as far as wiring, here's a video that I did years ago of how to wire a pullstation to an alarm. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mGOklGyLbcZrmpo Hope this is enough information for you to get started, please comment here if you have anymore questions.

That sounds like safetech's fire alarm test 62! Although you got the same pitches, but different horns. There were the same pitches and 4051 horns. And the electronic horn was a wheelock AS set in code 3 while the rest were in continuous. The EHS-DL1 doesn't have a jumper for code 3 or continuous probably.
@BlackLightning45474 жыл бұрын
The Faraday 6020 IS lower pitched than the BZ-51-PC2 and the AES-DL1-RH-24-VFR cannot be self-coded, but that's cool though
@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL4 жыл бұрын
@@BlackLightning4547 yeah you have a cooler system! I didn't know that an AES-DL1-RH-24-VFR can't be coded. I was correct on my guess though. And the alarm in the hallway looks old. Did you get that in an antique store? Oh and btw i might get a wheelock MT-24-LSM. And i wonder what the LSM stands for
@BlackLightning45474 жыл бұрын
@@SirensAndAlarmsOfNorthernIL Thank you, and the cool thing about the AES-DL1-RH-24-VFR is not only that it has 3 tones, but it can be switched from 4-wire to 2-wire on the fly by a dip switch, and it also has a high and low volume control too. The alarm in the hallway was bought from Ebay and it originally had a Wheelock AES-EL1 3-tone surface mount horn behind the plate but that stopped working for some reason. I have a Wheelock MT-24-LSM(rebranded by Cerberus Pyrotronics) LSM might mean Lens Strobe Modern basically Modern Strobe Lens but backwards

Fire alarms are nothing to be scared of. Sure, some can be very loud, but that's the point. The point is to notify you effectively that's there's a fire emergency in the building and that you should evacuate. My suggestion is to listen to fire alarm videos on low volume, then slowly build up, and/or, purchase one. Start with a strobe, then a chime strobe or speaker strobe, then a horn strobe or bell strobe. Get comfortable and get a feel for it, and who knows, you might find it interesting.
