Well one film that also likely served as inspiration was biker boyz ( not exactly a well known film) but it too was based around bikes and had some similarities with this film. One more possible reason for Tata Young in this film was that Pritam is known to often plagirise songs and by incorporating her in this film that plagiarism element could be taken away. I also think the first one is the best of the series largely because it had the best villain. Dhoom 2 had good action set pieces and the chemistry between the Hrithik Roshan Aishwarya Rai pairing was good , he still wasn't as good a villain and was more of just a thief. The love story sort of watered him down further.
